I'd be fine with it but I can see why people would be disappointed if we only get 10. Althoughh there are other ways of representing the show's past by not just bringing old doctors back for example, I'm hoping that maybe River Amy or Clara make an appearance in the 60th as we haven't seen much of them with other doctors other than their own especially Amy (and yes I know its impossible to bring them back without undoing the other writers wrting, just as suggestion tho)
Of course I'd love to see some more of the old, beloved Faces from Whoniverse, but honestly: having 10 & Donna back for the 60th is better, than I could have ever asked for, so basically I'll be totally fine with it, if it's just David & Catherine
Nah, according to David there are "other players in these that we don't yet know about", plus all that indoor filming, and we know Capaldi AND Smith were seen on set, at different times throughout the early part of this year.
I mean we are also getting Ncuti’s doctor in the special at some point. I do believe 11 will come back. Hopefully Capaldi too. It’s an anniversary. We need our Doctor’s!
If there's going to be returning Doctors or surprise returning characters like River or companions, the the 2nd special will be the one as that's the one that's the most secretive. They've done a marvellous job keeping any appearances secret so far.
If would be dissapointed considering it's the bloody 60th anniversary and it's become a bit of a tradition to bring back old Doctors for special occassions (or randomly in the cases of The Two Doctors, Time Crash and Twice Upon A Time). Yes, we know from the trailers that Ncuti is going to be in it, but we don't know his Doctor yet, so I can't judge if I'm excited about that or not (I probably am). Plus, having just Tennant will make it feel like one era is only being celebrated while Doctor Who is so much more than just the Tennant era. I mean, we literally just left a non Tennant era behind us. Basically, I want it to be more than just a New Who celebration, which is very much what the 50th was. With Power of the Doctor setting up things like The Guardians of the Edge and the Companion Support Group, Russell has a lot of stuff to work with to make the celebration a good one, so I'm hoping he takes advantage of it and gives us what WE want and not what the BBC wants.
I'll be happy with just David, bonuses for some other doctor cameos. Important to remember that this anniversary special is giving us a regeneration too. (or is that expected at Christmas? I haven't been paying attention). Holding out hope as a River-in-60th truther but accepting of the fact that it's unlikely at this point
Probably too soon to see Jodie Whittaker reprise her role? - but I'd like that one day if not the 60th anniversary. Give the 13th Doctor decent material for once lol! :)
Jodie Whittaker has already said that she would love to return to the show. I can see her being the next "tennant" and being put into specials in the future
I think the idea of the star beast bring a series 4 call back is a good idea to re-start the show and bring casual viewers with something safe then go into fan territory with wild blue yonder and the giggle thus catering to both types of doctor who viewers
You know what at 4:22 I just was thinking how funny it would be to see 11 encounter 14 being like, "You again!" and 14 just responds "Yeah, not this time mate! Other way round!" 11 just replies shocked, "😯Oh, soo~!" "...Spoilers yeah, just about!"
Knowing how well they just about managed to keep Tobey & Andrew’s return under wraps before No Way Home’s release, I’m personally still keeping a very open mind about it, we know David obviously won’t be the only Doctor in general cos of Ncuti’s appearance but knowing how secretive they’re being about things like the plot of Wild Blue Yonder, you never know
I would love to see Capaldi and Gatwa in an episode in the future. I think they’re both Scottish? So they have that in common. And then their energy in interviews is quite different. Would really like to see their Doctors paired up for a one-off.
Im completely fine with it just being Tennant and Gatwa. I honestly really dont want another bonkers multi doctor story, we just had The Power of The Doctor which was basically a huge crossover episode with how many classic Doctors and old companions appeared. I want something unique with a solid story rather than some retread of a multi doctor story, theres just so many now and I think having 4 multi doctor episodes in a row would kinda kill the novelty even more. Im all for returning support characters like River tho, her sharing scenes with 14 would be really good as much as I think her storyline was wrapped up nicely already.
if 11 came back it would be cool to see a husbands of river song type interaction where 11 thinks hes talking to 10 and is thus superior, and 14 lets him feel that way until he says something that only 11 would know, revealing that he comes after
I reckon we’ll see a lot of fan favourites but I also think that Davies is more interested in doing something different. This clearly won’t be The Day of the Doctor.
While I'm ok with the specials focusing on Tennant, especially given Ncuti will also be a part of the story making it still a multi-Doctor, as someone who previously fell out of love with the 10th Doctor, partially because of the over hype and "Tennant or nothing" mindset I've seen within the fandom, I'm hoping this doesn't fuel that idea and instead it serves as a means to humble this version of the Doctor and for everyone to make piece with his departure. Even though I can still see myself enjoying it, part of me will probably feel a sense of cynicism towards the idea of not only having him as the sole Doctor, but also claiming he's a different incarnation when it feels just like 10 again.
I think Capaldi's reticence is to do with how he left the show, I suspect there is more to be revealed there as it does not add up. At the time Chibnal was reported as saying that he was happy for Capaldi to stay on. Then Capaldi announced he had decided to leave. Then Chibnal took over, Jodie was announced and then later it's revealed that Jodie taking over was a prerequisite of Chibnal's for him taking on the showrunner role. These things contradict. Either Chibnal was happy for Capaldi to stay on, or he demanded Jodie get the role if he took over. If the latter then Capaldi obviously had to go to make way for her. I think Capaldi was shoved out, unwillingly, but said he was going as it was better than being publicly sacked and would not bring scandal on the show he loves. He took, as you'd expect, the professional and the gentlemanly route out. But I got the impression he had planned to break the 3 years and out trend and stay for something more like a 4th Doctor run. If he was shoved out against his will it would explain why he has been so cool on the show since leaving it. Personally I think Capaldi got a lucky break in the end, I think all the brilliant character work he and Moffat had achieved with 12 would have been dashed to bits under Chibnal's unsubtle writing. In the end better left with the good we got than have it soured by incompetent writing.
Can't really blame Capaldi for leaving. The writing was pretty ass his final season. Or it could just be the tradition every Doctor has had since Peter Davison, of not staying on longer than 3 years.
@@UnchainedEruption I don't agree about the writing, I think season 10's finale is one of the best of NuWHo and shows Moffat still at the top of his game at the very end of his run, Extremis is also a standout episode of that season. And the season is sprinkled with some wonderfully written scenes, such as Bill confronting 12 on if he has ever killed before.
David Tennant being my favourite doctor, I like the idea of him coming back, but coming back alone I do not, I would prefer either capaldi or both, because capaldi hasn't been in any specials yet, and honestly, I just want to see more of his doctor
Knowing RTD it will be full of surprises. He only ever teases the small stuff, the stuff he don't mind if you figure it out but always leaves the big stuff as a total surprise!
For the 60th all I want is a well written story which continues 10 and Donna's characters and dives into themes of change and learning to let go. I don't want shitty fanwank central. We've got Tennant, the Nobles, Beep the Meep, the Toymaker, Mel and potentially even Susan back; that's enough and we don't need more. If more characters do come back that's fine because Russell is a king at character writing who knows what he's doing but we shouldn't hope for them, and it doesn't matter which characters it is as Russell is great writing any character. If you like a mess which is only for the purpose of fanservice then just rewatch Fugitive of the Judoon, Flux and The Power of the Doctor. And it's not like Russell isn't gonna be bringing back characters during Ncuti's run; we're gonna have Kate, more Mel and at least two other returning characters (as we know from leaks).
I'm having a hard time being enthused about the idea that it might just be Tennant and Tate for the 60th anniversary special. Having said that, however, I'm willing to give it a chance. RTD just might get it to work...
I definitely see matt and peter coming back. Them denying it doesn't discount anything seeing as humans lie all the time and they would've signed NDA's. I could see jodie popping up too. Tho I definitely agree that christopher eccleston won't pop up. There's sufficient grounds for him not to pop up due to past events unfortunately. Actors have denied that they'd pop up in doctor who before and it usually turned out to be lies. Also, peter was spotted with rachel talalay days before it was announced that she was returning. Also murmurs that matt was spotted on set (not the fake leaked pics on twitter tho). We don't really know anything about what happens in the 60th, most of the filming was inside. Let's wait and see. This reminds me so much of the lead up to No Way Home.
I doubt Jodie would crop up considering she *just* left and on a lesser note that was a very controversial time in the show I think they might ignore for the first few episodes.
id love for classic who docs coming back but if not bring back doctors why not classic who companions like for instance mels been conformed for series 14 im not sure on the 60th tho but jo grant could come back katy manning has been involved with doctor who for a while anyway plus she has worked with rtd in the sarah jane adventures or just old companions like martha jones or r9ver or clara or amy or bill or susan
If Matt Smith isn't in it, then that's very unfair on him, given thst he has expressed interest in returning. When it comes to the 60th, if a past Doctor seems keen to return, then they should shoehorn them into the plot even if they don't fit, because the 60th only comes around once.
You know with Disney now being involved do you think Doctor Who will utilize pe of the new techinology to implant old doctors faces onto new bodies like with Luke Skywalker in the mandolorian ? Maybe even use de-aging tech with some of the actors that it could apply to.
They may do a "The Day Of The Doctor" thing where previous Doctors appear in archive footage. Think about it, most of the "Classic" era actors who played the Doctor are either dead or too old and the "Nu-Who" era Doctors may be the only ones that appeal to fans who came on board with the revival so whatever happens, it has to be a light touch rather than a "let's cram as much nostalgia into these 3 shows as we can" situation.
My prediction is a new actor playing a YOUNG Bill Hartnell, as we get a flashback to the 1st Doctor's youth with the Master and the Deca and his first encounter with the Toymaker. Basically an adaptation of the the flashback scene from the Gary Russell novel Divided Loyalties. RTD knows the novels, he wrote one (Damaged Goods) and he adapted one (Human Nature) so I feel like it is a possibility.
I actually think having Amy and Rory appear in the future show would be easy. Just have them use the Tardis or River’s vortex manipulator while the Doctor and River are on one of their dates. So they’d be coming from a time before they were trapped in New York. The actors still look youthful enough.
I'd love to see other Doctors, but if it's just David, I'm fine with it. I never thought we'd see David and Catherine on screen again as the Doctor and Donna, and I'm just over the moon that that's happening. Anything else would just be icing on the cake for me at this point.
I mean, literally the last episode as of the time of this comment featured the 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 13th, a remastered 13th (if you will 😉), the Fugitive and 14th Doctor's, and a whole array of returning companions and characters. Some of these were just fleeting cameos, but it was an achievement height that not even the 50th Anniversary reached. So I'm fine with it just being David and Ncuti, to whatever capacity the latter is in them. It almost feels like the BBC Centenary special was the 60th, and these three stories with David are little extras.
I think its for the best to be honest, the 60th is going to be the introduction of Doctor Who for alot of people due to the Disney+ deal. Overwhelming the audience with multiple Doctors and returning characters might make people switch off.
I'd be ok with it, 10 is definitely my series 4 is easily my favourite. However, not only do I want it to be the case, I also don't buy this Capaldi being done with Doctor Who stuff! He was after all, as they covered in depth when be was first announced, the original Doctor Who fanboy wasn't he? So unless his experience as the doctor was absolutely awful, I don't but it. Also there was that photo with the director around the time the specials were being filmed that suggests he was at least in close contact with the people making the 60th.
if there is multiple doctors in any of the specials i kinda want donna to be there and an a conversation kindly like 10 would be talking to her and another doctor interrupts their back and forth banter and Donna is like "🤨 who is he?" and the doctor responds with it being himself and donna is shocked and he responds with "what? rose told you that could happen." expecting her to be not fazed at all and she responds with "But why did you chose to look like that?" and he response to her with a knowing look and says he doesnt get to choose its instinctual "Like a feeling or a memory... or a reminder." and then he turns to look at her with a lost look. idk i would want to it to call back to capaldi's speech at the end of "the girl who died" it would be even better if it was capaldi saying it to her if he was there but we know that wont happen.
Call me crazy... But I have the strongest of feelings that Eccleston is coming back. Like... between the comments about recently working with Bernard Cribbins and him diving deep intro conventions and big finish. I dunno... just got a super strong feeling that it might actually be that time. It's a clean slate for Russel too, I'd be genuinely shocked if he hadn't reached out at the very least. Guess we'll have to revisit this in November and see whether I sold myself a dream or not XD
Honestly I’m fine with just 10 and Donna, all I want is a good story! Yes for past anniversary’s we’ve had multiple doctors but just because it happened in the past doesn’t mean it should be expected. Personally I’d rather see the return of the Christmas Day special .
I would say Matt would be the most likely to at least cameo cause Peter doesn’t like multi doctor stories Jodie was towards the end of her pregnancy when they started filming and Christopher isn’t on good terms with the curry production but I don’t want it to just be the 5th anniversary all over again where it was mostly David and Matt with John hurt thrown in
I'm fine with it only David or not. At this point Doctor Who is my Sublimation, and I love absolutely every moment I get to experience with it. I DO think it will have more than David, though. Ncuti at least. Stupid squidgy fanwank (possibly) hypothesis: 13 to 14 regenerated clothes and all... and I think this is more important than it might at first appear. It's not 10's look. It's a pastiche. at first glance it's 10' silhouette. But the details are little bits and pieces each common to more than one Doctor. Tie that can be a bowtie... 2 and 11 Checked trousers and jacket: 1,2,4 (sometimes)... Long coat (just about all of them one point or another). Braces / suspenders seem to be missing, so there's a strike against my hypothesis. Ther aren't any single-Doctor-specific items; no big scarf, no celery, no frilly sleeves, no leather jacket, nothing like 13's lovely rainbow shirt. This is something trying to "hold the Doctor back" to the most common way they were. Almost like someone or something wants to mislead the Doctor into thinking they can't change, can't progress, and via Donna and her potentially fatal memory problem... the lie that the Doctor can't save those they love, or will always leave things worse than they found them. I think that will be a major part of the story. I HOPE we don't see 14 regenerate into Ncuti's Doctor. I hope we have no number for them, and we never see which one they are. And I'd write the end of "The Giggle" with 14 and Donna going off on adventures of their own. We never see 14 regenerate into the next incarnation. Leave it open for other media, or future, or never resolve it, like the Watcher or maybe even the Timelss Child and the wonderful Fugitive Doctor (wish we'd get more of her). anyway. I know nothing, and thank you Crispy for another fun topic and video!
For me, and I'm sorry to say this, The Power of the Doctor felt more like the 60th Anniversary show than this upcoming special will feel like. The reason why is because of the appearance of the Classic Who Doctors. Chibnall really came through like I didn't believe he could. It was brilliant. The 60th will feel hollow by comparison.
Also, you can't use Big Finish MultiDocs as reason for why the TV 60th won't be a MultiDoc, or shouldn't be. Big Finish is audio only, most of us don't listen to em, too distracting without video footage there, so for a large portion of the base of ADHD Fanatics, Big Finish is just a thing that exists, nothing of note, nothing we can actually get stories out of.
Welll if it is the toy maker anything can happen so if they don’t use that situation fully the whole thing is pointless. The toy maker is supposed to f with the doctor’s mind so would make sense. As someone who’s doctor should be David I grew to love Patrick more just hope it’s not just David and Catherine will be pretty disappointed
In the classic era there were only two specials, that's 2 multidoctor stories in 20 years (and that 6th+2nd story). We've already had more than 3 multidoctor stories in the last 17 years and it's becoming gimmicky and cheap. I think forcing multidoctor stories every 5 years makes it exponentially less special.
Only tennant wouldn't surprise me, but it would disappoint me. Catherine Tate's character deserves proper closure or at least a proper return...only reason I'd come watch.
Christopher shouldn't come back to the show. Russell had him black balled and the only reason he's done Big Finish and conventions is he loves his fans but not Russell
It seems like such a wasted opportunity. We should bring back the 80s Doctors while they're still alive and physically able to act. 50th anniversary only had 2 familiar Doctors, plus a new one. Now there's only one, and it's the same David Tennant who came back last time. Not even Matt Smith this time. Just seems like a big missed opportunity for a multi-Doctor special.
Nah not buying it, Russel wants to bring Doctor Who back big. And sony and disney offcourse whats that too, and they have the perfect excuse. Hope its not stock footage though.
Crispy, my thoughts on the matter are very interesting, so I’d really appreciate if you took the time to read and reread them. Here: Make. That. Shirt.
Maybe even bringing some companions from the classic other than Tegan and Ace. ;)
I mean, there is wiggle room to bring those companions back (especially the Moffat era ones).
they could become the doctor the doctor works by all of his cells regenerating so that means he could take the form of Amy or rose
Weren't the "leaked photos" of Smith the ones generated with AI?
When were they spotted on set? I saw an Ai photo of matt smith and a picture of Peter Capaldi hanging out with Rachel Talalay.
Past Doctors in anniversaries should never be kept secret. That's the kind of thing that needs to be announced.

7:50 technically river met 10 in bigfinish many times

I hope the anniversary specials feal like season 4, season 4 was the bomb and my fave season of the show.
Holding out for a surprise, unannounced fourth special that's just Capaldi and Eccleston. ;-)
I think its for the best to be honest, the 60th is going to be the introduction of Doctor Who for alot of people due to the Disney+ deal. Overwhelming the audience with multiple Doctors and returning characters might make people switch off.
I want 2nd and 3rd to one day be in a live action multi Doctor story.
0:25 crazy thoughts… what if Tennet will play the 10th Doctor and the 14th?
Honestly I’m fine with just 10 and Donna, all I want is a good story! Yes for past anniversary’s we’ve had multiple doctors but just because it happened in the past doesn’t mean it should be expected. Personally I’d rather see the return of the Christmas Day special .
I’ll probably wait till it’s out to make my mind up if I’ll watch it but I think I’m more keen for series 15
Matt Smith said he would like to come back as the Master.
I would say Matt would be the most likely to at least cameo cause Peter doesn’t like multi doctor stories Jodie was towards the end of her pregnancy when they started filming and Christopher isn’t on good terms with the curry production but I don’t want it to just be the 5th anniversary all over again where it was mostly David and Matt with John hurt thrown in
Moffat is reportedly doing writing for RTD2, so why not see River again?
Cuz her storyline finally wrapped up fine and we don't need her to return and potentially muck it up
The giggle in everyone’s head 🤡 I still think it’s going to be caused by the stooky bill broadcast because of the toymaker.
Christopher will return for the solo episode only, He doesn't like the idea of multi-Doctor episode. He wants to be the only Doctor in his story
7:34 NO RIVER HER STORY ENDED PERFECTLY DONT MESS IT UP 😂
I'm fine with it only David or not. At this point Doctor Who is my Sublimation, and I love absolutely every moment I get to experience with it.
I DO think it will have more than David, though. Ncuti at least.
Stupid squidgy fanwank (possibly) hypothesis:
13 to 14 regenerated clothes and all... and I think this is more important than it might at first appear.
It's not 10's look. It's a pastiche. at first glance it's 10' silhouette. But the details are little bits and pieces each common to more than one Doctor.
Tie that can be a bowtie... 2 and 11
Checked trousers and jacket: 1,2,4 (sometimes)...
I honestly wish David and Donna would go in their own vein and the N Who would come in another guise.
we could get a seaon with the tenth doctor we never saw him regenerate
Other question: Should Tennant return after the 60th? Because I feel that this should be his final appearance, in a big capacity, that is.
Dont think it will be a multi doctor story, but think the others may be in it.
We saw 10 and 11 together. I think it'll be boring or repetitive. We want 12 back.
Give me capaldi!
I'm marking the words of eating the hat ;-)
TV adaptation of The Ruby's Curse for Alex Kingston return?
I feel like David is the only returning actor as the doctor in the anniversary, but I'd be happily surprised if he wasn't.
ESPECIALLY with the last Doctor Who episode having multiple Doctors as well...
Not every anniversary has to be a multi doctor story
Also, you can't use Big Finish MultiDocs as reason for why the TV 60th won't be a MultiDoc, or shouldn't be. Big Finish is audio only, most of us don't listen to em, too distracting without video footage there, so for a large portion of the base of ADHD Fanatics, Big Finish is just a thing that exists, nothing of note, nothing we can actually get stories out of.
River song will 100% be there.
River x 14 would be amazing ngl
I don’t want River back cause I always found her rather annoying in Doctor Who
hello
sorry to be the guy, but first
Nope, I was 😂
Crispy, my thoughts on the matter are very interesting, so I’d really appreciate if you took the time to read and reread them. Here:
Make. That. Shirt.
