Musta Got Lost live is incredible (Wooba Grooba with the Green Teeth!) Detroit Breakdown live also is awesome. I hope you check out a bunch of their stuff! ~Be Blessed
My first real concert I attended was the night I graduated from High School in June of 1973 was J. Geils Band. This was the song on the radio, top 40 breakthrough hit. Many firsts that night. I remember the sound of that Hammond B-3 and have wanted one ever since. A great Boston band. I'd love a reaction to another Boston band by the name of The Standelles and their big hit "Dirty Water" SUCH a great groove!
Actually, The Standells were from L.A. and had never been to Boston (they didn't write the song). Dirty Water has become the ultimate Boston anthem, though! Love that dirty water!!!

Back In The Day They Were One Of The Most Incredible Bands To See Live..Not Just Great Music,, They Had A Great Sense Of Humor & They Made SURE YOU HAD FUN.
I had this on 8-track in my first car around 1974. Originally called The J. Geils Blues Band, the early material was rooted their love of 50’s and 60’s R&B and blues. In the early ‘70’s they were known for raucous live shows featuring former DJ Peter Wolf’s humorous banter and Magic Dick’s stellar harmonica.
J. Geils was the lead guitarist. He died a few years back. Peter Wolf, the lead singer is one of the best front men ever. Nicest person in the biz. He now plays with a band called the Midnight Travelers. Check out live Geils performances circa 1978…….”Homework”and “First I Look at the Purse”…..and that is Magic Dick on harmonica….
Greetings from Canada, again, eh!!! Great choice, one of my bands!!! The Mighty Might J. (Files, Tiles, styles, miles) Geils Band!!! When I bought this album way back in '74, the vinyl was blood red, like the album cover, so COOL!! This band is unique for having a harmonica player ( Magic Dick on the lickin stick) as a lead, with guitar mostly rhythm and lead. These guys are a treat live. I've been there many many many times, and they will "BLOW YOUR FACE OUT!! Sadly J. Geils ( guitarist) passed away a few short years ago, but the music lives on! They have one of the greatest "roll down your car window and let it rip" songs in Whammer Jammer, it's a harmonica solo with band backing. Best version is on the "Full House" live album from 1972 from the defunct Cinderella Ballroom in Detroit, a show I almost made it too, but, life happens.............Rock On!!!

The bass in this song is fun-ky! J Geil's Band is a party rock and funk band. They have a number of hits, and their live stuff is great. Musta Got Lost live is incredible (Wooba Grooba with the Green Teeth!) Detroit Breakdown live also is awesome. I hope you check out a bunch of their stuff! ~Be Blessed
Great live band. Full House and Blow Your Face Out are both outstanding live albums worth checking out.
@@denisewhite1426 I didn't know that. Sorry for the mistake I'm usually really good with trivia. I missed it, but given the song, an understandable error on my part. Still a great early garage band hit regardless.
@@thomasmcintosh390 , no need to apologize - it's the logical assumption! I was pretty sure that many moons ago (probably when the song was current) I had heard that they were not from Boston, so I looked them up to make sure. Now you have a new piece of trivia to surprise your friends with, lol.
It's pronounced with a long "I", as if it was spelled "Giles". Other great songs by this band are: Looking For a Love, Musta Got Lost, Just Can't Wait, Love Stinks, Centerfold, & Freeze Frame.
So much fun. They brought it by by the truckload
Angel in Blue...
"I do" is my personal favorite from them.
Something uplifting from the great Billy Preston- “That’s the Way God Planned It” live on the Midnight Special 1980. His mother sings a coupla lines. Yes! RIP Brother Preston.
love “Circles@👍👍🦋
RIP Billy..the 5th Beatle.
Love your reaction! I was doing the same dance in my chair while I watched. I got to see the band live twice, and they were incredible both times, a real party jam band. I remember this album as well, pressed in red vinyl, Bloodshot was great listening. Thanks for bringing the big smile on my face!!!
Great band. Peter Wolf was a great front man. 💜
Still is!!!!!!
@@barryshapiro3349 Truth. I keep forgetting he’s still doing his thing.
A lot of people only know the commercial stuff like Centerfold, Love Stinks etc... they were SO much better than that. Check out more of the early stuff. They absolutely SLAYED, especially live.
Incredible band live. Saw them a couple dozen times while living in Beantown, and every time they just smoked me!
One of the first bands I saw live. Awesome 😎
Morning funk is the best!! Excellent choice, sir! 💜🎼🎵 🎶
The transition is the ultimate grabber - you can't help but dance it/jam it. Jamel rules.
First I look at the Purse has to be the next J. Geils song to be played.
Love them. Thank You for playing. Really takes me back.
This song is such a classic ! This is called music !
In the 70's, in Boston, a Geils show was the best thing you could ever see. One of the most incredible live bands ever. Peter Wolf defines the term Front Man. RIP Jay. These guys were all that.
Peter Wolf and the band need to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!
Still one of the ROCKINEST bands from the '70s. Guaranteed to be played at EVERY party. Listen to this music and everybody has a great time. Even better live!
I just gave my Bloodshot album to my son in law, it was a red vinyl album with the original price tag of $3.85. I love this whole album!!! I carried that album with me for over 30 years. Still in great shape with the original plastic covering on it too.
Jay Guy-ills Band
Next should be
Musta Got Lost with intro...you'll love, love ,love it! Thanks enjoyed your reaction to this
Party band! No party was complete without the J Geils Band
PLEASE DO "LOVE STINKS" "BREAK DOWN No. 9" "NO ANCHOVIES PLEASE" THANKS JAMEL !!!!!
Already did Love Stinks.
Then "Just Can't Wait " would be the logical choice.
Finally someone reacting to classic J Geils. Most underrated band maybe ever!
Please do Must of Got Lost!!
Great, great song - but it always bothered me that they spelled it like that, lol.
Yes, but it must be the LIVE version.
Live version with the full introduction
One of my all time favorite bands. Love their music. Thanks for playing this
You’re gonna love “Musta got lost”, “ain’t nothing but a house party” and the stadium anthem “Freeze-Frame”
Great party song! Brings back fun memories. Thanks, J 👍❤️
Rhymes with miles of smiles!
Saw this pop up on my feed and was like "Oh, Hell Yeah!" Fabulous song I haven't heard in way too long. Thank you, Brother!
Such a fantastic beat
This HAS to be one of the top 5 party songs of all time.
Detroit adopted these guys, and the feeling was mutual. Never missed a show!
Jamel, J Geils Band "I Do" & "Musta Got Lost" are two of the funnest performances by any band ever! Wolfe's full rap intro is something to behold. They were a phenomenal live band. Guaranteed to make your day! ✌🤩🎶❤
When doing J Geils you should always do the live version. Totally different energy
J Girls band was my 1st Concert Ever wayyyyyy back in the 70s!!! AMAZING!!! Bluesy with Soul and a Great Party Group!! 😁😁😁 Miss those days!! Dive Deeper plzzzz Blow Your Face Out!! 😋 Amazing Live!!!! Love the Reaction!! 😁 Oh... Magic Dick the harmonicaist was Badass!!
Oooo J Geils Band. Saw them in concert early 70’s. They are great entertainers!!!
Just Groove to it ✌️
"Somebody" might surprise you, the lyrics and the sound are unique. There's a certain funky instrument that I would have fun watching you guess what the heck that is.
Washboard.
THANK YOU, J. 💜 I been trying to get somebody to play J. Geils for the longest time! Killer band. 🔥 Fire-filled funk.
A song that will improve anyone’s mood immediately. Another song that does that for me is the Reggae song “Johnny Nash- Guava Jelly”, he did the best version. You should definitely react to that, no other reactor has lol 👍
That jamm session around the 4 minute mark is soooo unique! Each instrument is playing something totally different, each their own melody, but when mixed it makes its own melody! The live version is probably the most heart pumping thing ever on vinyl!
Pronounced guy-ils. Like isles, but with a G
or G - aisles
G - eye - L's
guy - L's
guy - yells
😎
Listen to Detroit Breakdown for sure
Rhymes with miles!
Personally, I prefer thinking of it like "aisles" but with a G, but it's to-may-to/to-mah-to really.
guy els. The band was so tight live but Peter Wolf the singer was crazy and so intense live that the actress Faye Dunaway went to one of their shows and she ended up marrying him. They were together for 4 years.
They were Boston based so I saw them often.
WOW the memories!! Thanks for doing this. Back when you could appreciate the solos the musicians would do and fell it!!! Teenage memories. I needed this, thank you.
Back In The Day They Were One Of The Most Incredible Bands To See Live..Not Just Great Music,, They Had A Great Sense Of Humor & They Made SURE YOU HAD FUN.
My husband and I saw them back in the 70s. One of our favorite groups.
You should check out the live version of this song at Winterland. It's on UA-cam.
That keyboard solo brought back vibes from when I was 14! Dang!! 👍🏻✌️💕👏🏻
Early on, these guys would do a free concerts in various small parks around Boston. Love 'em.
Seen them at the summer concerts at the commons also Sha Na Na Rod Stewart 💚🍀
Happy Tuesday Mel!! I remember in college it was “Two for Tuesday’s” 🍻 Not sure why that popped into my head today lmao 🤷🏻♂️🤔😂😂🙌🙏
Pete, our stations are still doing Two-fer Tuesdays..but in the south, we're always behind.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@jamelakajamal Ya gotta do Musta got lost with intro. Peter Wolf free styling back in 74!
Boston blues band. Seen them 5 or 6 times. 4 times in a Boston area club. BLOW THE ROOF OFF. Check out the music from their Live album. Whammy Jammer is unbelievable.
J “Giles,” or “Guy-L’s,” …rhymes with “smiles.” Now, treat yourself to “Must Of Got Lost,” from 1974!!!
Saw the J. Guy-Ills band more than any other act in the 70's... they opened for everyone!
Now that your groovin to J. Geils Band.
Could you funk up the place with “Ain’t Nothin But A House Party”.
Unless you’re dead or in jail, there ain’t a reason to bounce to this one.
Thx Jamal👍
Headliners of my first concert around ‘73, just a great rocking funky blues band, been a fan ever since. Geils was a truly an under appreciated guitar hero! Had this original album, Bloodshot came out on red vinyl
I'm getting a heavy reggae feel with this song.
This tune has always been one of the best jams, ever. You crack me up, as that's why I subscribed. My neighbors loved this tune so much, they threw a rock through my window to hear it better...
I saw this band in the early 70s in Hartford ct. Freaking fantastic. Peter Frampton was also on this bill. Damn I swear it was 5.00 . Gotta love the 70s
Raputta, Raputta the beautta!
Did you see them before or after the civic center collapsed?
