Thank you for making this video: im sure it settles a lot of anxiety for new diy'ers. Could we also get a video on how to professionally make a cable with these connectors? I personally am making cables successfully with continuity but am struggling to make clean and tidy ground twists/braids lol! It would be great to see techniques.
Great Vid! I ordered a bunch of sq plugs and your cable early in the quarantine and it’s the best. I replaced all the cables on an already built bass pedalboard and it sounded better. More presence and punch in the tone. Also I’m building a guitar pedalboard and it’s going to be all btpa cables.
Stupid question time...when setting up a SPS4 with Mogami 2314 cable, what's the conventional wisdom regarding using a short section of heat-shrink tubing to prevent the strain relief screws from gouging too deep into the insulation and biting into the shield wire? Any info helps. Thanks
Hi Mauricio, the angled SP400 and SP500 do not. The Straight SPS4 and SPS5 do. This information is found on the last page of this PDF - btpa.com/pdf/SquarePlugs_Compat.pdf
I mistakenly ordered the SP500 connectors with the CA-0678 cable - I see now that it’s recommended to go with the SP400. Would you recommend exchanging the connectors, or will they still work reliably? Thanks!
I have sp400s with 0678. However, I need a double ts to trs to connect an iridium in stereo. Can I still use the 0678 cable with the sp550s to make that “Y” cable.
Unfortunately, no. I am not sure of a cable small enough to run two into a single SP550-S. You can always use our stubby TRS to run two cables out to two SP400. In that case I recommend the MC-3641 (part number on our site) and CA-0492.
Did you strip back the black conductive PVC layer on the 2319 cable? This is often a mistake people make and will result in exactly how you are describing.
The only question is, your cable CA-0678. Is awesome but I just finished re-doing new cables with square plugs sp400 too but I have noticed thw sound is not as loud as it used to be, i went to website and cable states to remove black sleeve/avoid that black shield from touching, otherwise signal will be lost. Would that be the case of my signal lost or something else?? Thanks.
@@BTPA_USA 2nd part.....just wanted to update last message, I did every single cable I made and after stripping off the black conductive pvc the signal is as strong as the first time. Thanks Brad!!!!! 0 noises, cables are great. God bless you and Best -Tronics

Spec sheet exactly the sort of info I've been after. Thanks for taking the time to put this together Legend👍Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Great info. I've purchased many SP-400 and BTPA CA-0678 cable from BTPA. They both work great! Thanks Brad!
Thanks, Tim! Appreciate you!!

I just received 74 of them that I ordered from BTPA. Looking forward to my build!

Awesome!! Glad you are liking everything and thank you for the support! ♥️
Next year when I remake patch cables for my son I'm definitely switching to the sps5 for his rack and the sp500 for his pedals.
Love to hear it!
Nice, do you all sell the mini xrl connectors
Yep! btpa.com/aaa3mblp and btpa.com/aaa3fblp

THX for the great video
would really like to buy and use them on my pedalboard
is there a official dealer in Switzerland?
Custom Boards Finland carries them I believe!
Squareplugs are the only ones ill use now, The Low Profile is a godsend
Love em! ♥️
Such a great, informative video!
Thank you!! Glad we could help. More coming for their newer lines of connectors
Hi there, do the square ones fit on the back of the Gigrig G2 on the Loop Jacks? Thanks
Hi Mauricio, the angled SP400 and SP500 do not. The Straight SPS4 and SPS5 do. This information is found on the last page of this PDF - btpa.com/pdf/SquarePlugs_Compat.pdf
What solder temp do you guys recommend for assembling these? The sleeve side seems to suck up a lot of heat and I’m having some trouble with those.
which squareplug connector should be used with btpa CA-0446 cable? I'm making some guitar cables and this isn't listed in your comparison PDF.
The CA-0446 cable is a standard diameter guitar cable, which is too large to fit the Square Plug line of connectors.
Which cable of yours could I use for the SP550-S TRS plugs? Could I just use the CA-0678?
For TRS-TRS cables the CA-0678 cannot be used. CA-0528 on our website or this Mogami cable work great - btpa.com/Mogami-W2552
Great video! Is Mogami's 2524 compatible with the SP500 connectors? I'm seeing conflicting things online about it
It is not.
I mistakenly ordered the SP500 connectors with the CA-0678 cable - I see now that it’s recommended to go with the SP400. Would you recommend exchanging the connectors, or will they still work reliably? Thanks!
The SP500 and CA-0678 will still work reliably. So no problems there.
@@BTPA_USA thank you!
Can I make SPS5 cables to use as amp cables coming from my pedalboard? Thanks!
You can; however if you are live gigging or touring I would not recommend it. Their new release of SPS6 connectors are suited for that, though.
Hi, is it ok to use mogami 2319 to sp400 plugs?
Hi there. No. This is detailed in the video and in the spec sheet linked in the description. Thanks!

@@BTPA_USA thanks for the tip. Would a different cable cause any kind of problem in the signal?
@@jmd12331 it would not. You can technically use the CA-0678 cable I referenced as two runs with the stubby plug, but it’s a tight fit.
Vertex Effects brought me here, and I just purchased a bunch of SP400s and cable from you guys. Thanks!
Thank you!! 🎉🎉
Thank you.
I got sp400 and mogami 2319, for some reason my tone changed a lot in a bad way. Delay sounded like it's in the box. Do you know where is wrong?
Did you strip back the black conductive PVC layer on the 2319 cable? This is often a mistake people make and will result in exactly how you are describing.
Anyone know the capacitanxe value of these?
Hi! I bought some of those plug! They feel heavy duty, do you know if those plugs are made of stainless steel?
Awesome! Not completely sure, but I believe they may have steel in them. Not really sure, to be honest, though.
So the right angle sp doesn’t fit in boss es-8 , because of its width? Or because of the alignment, I.e. one has to point up, one down?
Because of the width and the jack spacing on the ES-8. The SPS4/SPS5 straight connectors work great on the ES-8, though!
@@BTPA_USA thanks for that. It seems that Squareplug don’t make TRS straight connectors in for the ES-8 control jacks tho?
@@timleghorn157 currently, they do not. We make a stubby plug TRS that is only 1” long - btpa.com/MC-3641.html

Yes! There are a few. Custom Boards Finland is a great source - en.customboards.fi/
