As a teen I thought Tom Jones was a joke. As an adult I really appreciate how great he sings and what an amazing voice he possesses. He killed this Ides Of March classic.

You are so right, Shannon. He was killing it right out of the box, starting with Delilah. I'm 68 now (August 2024). My peers back then thought I was crazy to like Tom Jones. I merely recognized great music when I heard it, and I'm a guy - there was no Tom Jones infatuation element in it for me. I hope they look at this clip today and sheepishly realize I (and you) was right.

In 1970, The Ides of March released this single, which sold over one million copies and was, at the time, the fastest-selling single ever for Warner Brothers Records. Listening to the original I thought this song is perfect for Tom Jones. I bet he covered it and wished he had done the original. Sure enough, here it is.
