@@WallySketch No it isn't. In RPGs, especially based on D&D , clubs are the cheapest weapons (1 GP) and are very easy to use.
Swords are not cheap and can be damaged in many situations. His advice was excellent. Your brain is useless.
The conversation is actually quite useful, seeing as they don’t have money for ordinary weapons, they have to resort to using very basic but still effective weapons.

I like how Goblin Slayer gave out some genuinely good advice. He doesn't patronize the newbies, he just sees two people trying to make a living and respects that.
Straight to the point, no boasting. He is ironically what most veteran Adventurers should be like. _(well, Swordsman and Spearman are not bad, so...)_
Nope, he just sees two potential future partners for exterminating goblins.
When they asked about using the club on bugs or rats, he didn't just automatically say "of course it will" or assume anything. He genuinely said what it will do at least, and said he wasn't sure. He knew his limits and didn't make stuff up.

@@Gat720Dua Well nicknames and stuff are often given to someone mostly thanks to something they did that had a big impact in the people around them. In Trigun Bash The Stampede The Human Hurricane was the nickname given to Bash when he supuoussedly destroyed that city and Goblin Slayer is called that not because he only kills goblins but because he's the only one that kills goblins the most, he's name didn't change from Goblin Slayer to Orgre Slayer after killing the ogre by himself with the scroll (Something that i bet no other silver adventurer has done)

Never doubt a club. Cheap, easily replaced, and highly customizable. All you need is some of that goblin slayer imagination. Imagine a club with protruding spikes, slathered in poison.
Just rip a goblin's spine out with the skull still attached.

spikes would just make it stick into the target, making it harder to use against others. just a blunt object will bash in a goblin's skull, and as long as it doesn't break you can keep doing it

The idea of killing anything other than goblins was so foreign to him that he thought they mentioned rats as a possible weapon.

Which makes me wonder if ADR Script-Writers noticed that, and was amused 🥴buuuut actively rewritten the line to, "Would it[a club] _work against_ rats and bugs?".
Reminds me of 2019's Live-Action "Aladdin," teaching the context of what ways a sentence/request/wish can sound like for the Genie _(i.e. "Make ME (into )a Prince" vs. "MAKE me A PRINCE"), 😆.

One of my personal favourite scenes of Goblin Slayer. He gave a sound suggestion, explained the methods, no bs, no misleading (when he said he isn't sure about rats and bugs). He's obsessed with goblins, but also a reliable senpai
I didn't realize until just now he wasn't following along with the guy about using the club on rats he thought the guy was asking about using rats to hit goblins. That is great character dialogue.

He’s fairly competent. When the giant swordman and spearman took him along for a quest. Just cause he’s occupation also covers the role of a scout. He gave some insight to the situation. Even suggesting to throw the necromancer off of his tower and let gravity do the work. Considering the necromancer couldn’t levitate.

Yes, it is in the name.
You know, a good idea for this guild would be to hire adventurers to write down basic strategies and guides dealing with various creatures. Yes goblinslayer could write an encyclopedia about goblins, how they fight, the best strategies to use against them, so on and so forth, but pretty much any type of mission has been run before so new adventurers could be told, "Before you set off on this mission to fight vampire moths, read The Count's guide to moth slaying so you know what to expect." I bet that would raise the survival rate at least a little bit.
You know… That’s a really good idea. Why isn’t that a thing in more fantasy? We have the exact same thing for dealing with various other cultures, animals, plants, and more, so that makes total sense to exist in the world.
@@olivierdubreuil-gagnon2201 they sort of do mention that the adventurers should be mentored and taught by more experienced adventurers. in particular retired adventurers so they not only have something to do but can earn a living
Well, goblin slayer literally wrote a book on how to hunt goblins and gave it to the guild. Just no one wants to read it. You can't make people not be stupid.
If I’m not mistaken, at the end of this season the guild hires some retired adventurers to help train newbies.
@@greatfist The guild absolutely could make people not be stupid. "Nobody gets a mission until they read this info on the targets and passes a test." if literacy is an issue, a guild employee could be the one to verbally tutor them on the info until they have it down. Passing the exam for goblins means goblin slaying missions are allowed, orcs, fairies, lamia, whatever the mission may be. once they pass the test they are authorized to accept it (within their adventurer rank of course, just because a porcelain adventurer read about the demon king doesnt mean they can take a quest to go fight him)
So no one is going to point out that GS puts his hand on his armour's faceplate were his chin normally would be when he thinks?
Its minor details like that, that paint GS as a person who is so used to his armour it's part of his body now.

the only time you ever see him out of it is when he is sleeping at cow girls house, or has been incapacitated and people undressed him to heal him. aside form those two scenarios he eats, sleeps, and everything else in it.

Imagine a short comics teen titans style, where goblin slayer have buyed multiple sets of the same armor.
His party finds it and all starts dreesing like him and acting like him while he is away.
What I like is the fact he still took the time to give them advice to the best of his ability and knowledge despite it not being related to Goblins. Now if they asked for advice on Goblins I assume they would either be put to sleep over all the advice he could give or traumatized by said advice XD

Him denying any quest that doesn’t involve goblins is comedic relief in itself.
He's right. A good old club is more versatile and better for bashing than a sword.
Blunt weapons are great. Don't need sharpening, very effective against armored enemies, easy to manufacture, and easy to replace.

@@atol671 The point here is most adventurers are uneducated peasants that dream about becoming heroes and like to own flashy equipment so most don't use uncool weapons like clubs.

@@mksmike Sorry you took it the wrong way, I was talking about the adventurer's POV, to them clubs and other useful but not flashy tools are uncool, not worthy the image a cool adventurer has to project, that's the reason why a lot of them don't wear helmets, they want to be known and fawned upon (from the LN).

Never doubt the potency of a club. There’s a reason why World War I was one of the most brutal conflicts in history. The clubs used in the war, even coming down to using a branch with hobnails driven into it, were simple, cheap, effective, and oh so deadly to any skull they came into contact with.
A "benefit/drawback" of trench warfare. It forced the fighting to still maintain a close quarters element.
@@bradprice8040 Yessir. Too many men lost sleep for fear of night raids by their enemies equipped with clubs and other melee weapons as well. The same could be said about the green creeps in this series. Club in hand, adrenaline pumping through your system and a murderous rage would be enough to terrify anything, human or otherwise, in your path.

I mean it worked for early man, it can work for you. You get a really big ass stick that’s nice and heavy and you beat em over the head until it dies. Rinse and repeat. Less up keep, although not great with mobs, so keeping this in mind I think it can do a good job.
But a very big stick.
Jokes aside. Clubs are a really simple weapon. Find a solid piece of wood with a heavy end, if you have a strong swing then you can really deal some damage with a club.
Don't have to worry about it getting stuck in something, extremely cheap (or even free), and highly customizable. Broken bones and internal damage aren't anything to scoff at.

Fun fact: Side manga had a chapter with these two characters. His club advice works. They don't die and dude gets his sword back after beating a giant roach to death with a club and cutting the sword out of its gut.

Firan25 no in the game apparently everyone refers to him as the Doom Slayer or just the Slayer. You can hear it in the doom eternal trailer and in the Doom game that came out before it
@@Firan25 Doom Slayer and Doom Guy are esencially the same person. At the end of Doom 64 he enters Hell and closes the portal to remain there forever and stop them from ever escaping again. While in Hell it is currently theorized that Doom Guy harnessed enough power to become immortal by siphoning the power from his fallen foes.
Hell, being a dimension connected to other dimensions, is connected to Argent D'nur and so it is implied that Doomguy ended up there somehow. After the Argent D'nur fell, a Seraphim grants Doom Guy some more power and he becomes Doom Slayer. During this time he rampaged through Hell for many eons.

To be fair, GS has a point in that a club is super cheap and easy to make. Hell you could even use a fallen tree branch as one in an emergency.
Blunt weapons are actually a lot better when dealing with armored opponents (like, say, giant bugs). A sword is almost the worst thing you can use when it comes to anything with good armor in real life.
I love how his response is instantaneous until they point out that they aren't fighting goblins, and then he has to pause and _think._ 😂
Okay, a vengeful vendetta is one thing, but this guy's got more tunnel vision than even that big helmet of his could possibly provide.
Yeah thats the whole point he has more then a few screws loose and it feels like alot of the characters are trying to help him recover from the mental trauma of the goblin attack and the training he put himself through to become the greatest goblin slayer

He is a specialist. The modern world works because of specialists rather than generalists. Sure a handyman might be able to handle some plumbing, but a plumber would get it done better. Its the same for adventurers. Goblin slayer is a specialist and thus is ahead of his time.

In all honesty, I'm happy those two low-ranked adventurers lived to the end of the series. They may not have been THAT important to the story, but I like it when characters who may not end up living in the end make it out okay.
They recently got promoted to obsidian in the light novel as well.

Guild Girl-chan is so cute. She's a supporting character but she has shown a lovely personality thus far.

And in the manga its even better because she had even more dialoges and developing
I liked the short scene of the bald farmer who came to advertise a quest for goblin slaying in Ep 2. She has to keep up a proper professional demeanour, despite him being in obvious distress, and knowing that such a low tier, low paying quest would normally be unlikely to attract attention, in spite of the danger goblins pose to civilians, it gets her down as soon as she can slump behind her desk for privacy.
It helps explain why she's so happy to see Goblin Slayer.

I really like how for all their shortcomings Rookie Warrior and Apprentice Cleric are humble enough to accept their own current level limitations and fight as a team, it certainly has allowed them not to die. Or worse.

I like how that made the whole silver rank thing actually matter in this scene, if I remember correctly you can only become a gold and platinum rank by doing or killing something very big and important in their universe ( but I might be wrong) but even though he only hunts one type of creation, and he's very one track minded, goblin slayer isn't a idiot for being an adventure is almost suicide in this world and to survive as one, you have to be Ethier very strong, very gifted, or very smart, for a famous slayer of goblin once said stupid adventurers don't last long.
they mention that there is only been a handful of platinum throughout the entire history of the guild which has been around for hundreds of years. gold at the rank just lower is still a major event.
there is 10 ranks and they go from Porcelain to Platinum.
Platinum seems to be pretty much exclusive to the Hero, this makes sense considering Hero's teammates are only Gold rank adventurers. Even Sword Maiden who was in the party that killed the Demon Lord remained Gold rank. And as it is implied, it's not hard to become Gold rank but a lot of people don't want to reach it as it would mean that they would be working for the government and that means they cannot go adventure on their own anymore.

I love how Guild Girl barely gets 5 words out before Goblin Slayer is already halfway out the door
My personal favorite is the shield. Wooden shield works too. It can be used to block and attack. Smashing board 4ever.

I hope in his post-adventuring days he gets to be a teacher at that adventuring school they’re opening in the town. He’d be a quirky yet effective teacher.
He actually does help with teaching there, though obviously he's nowhere near post-adventuring days yet.

I technically a club is free wepoan in D&D because big stick ready available.....unless your campaign in a desert or some place were tree don't grow a lot. Thought any season play would tell at least have a club if anything because does blunt damage wich something you'll need for skeletons.
Using a club is actually decent advice. Before humans learned how to make weapons out of steel and bronze all we had to do was get a heavy stick and hit each other with it.
Clubs are actually the best weapons. You can take a pipe a brach or anything that is long and heavy as a club. You can also add nails to it for spikes and If you some how came alone with oil you can get a flaming club
The funny thing is that in a side chapter in the manga, his advice actually works
its shown in the episode as well
I respect this guy's dedication to his job - killing goblins. His gear, his tactics, his mindset - they're all specialized for a single purpose. And whether he knows it or not, he's filling a niche in the Adventuring market, which all but gaurantees he'll always have steady work.
That’s the kind of guy that would rip and tear until it is done.

Gman Plays Games There’s some fucked stuff in it, but I say it’s a good watch from what i’ve seen. I like the characters, the story is compelling, the goblins are very clearly explained as evil and are thusly appropriately hateable and you have no remorse for watching GS kick ass and take names. Plus honestly, I like to think of him as Doom Guy for goblins (who can actually talk).
