A knighthood please for this giant of rock. In the charts in '67 with 'Flowers in the Rain' & still banging out the tunes in 2021 ! What does a guy have to do for goodness sake ? !
Maybe he feels the same as Keith Richards. When asked about a possible knighthood, he responed: "I wouldn't let anyone in that family anywhere near me."
This is simply one of the very best Christmas songs ever written, arranged and performed! Every thing about the song is top notch and you cannot help but feel warm and fuzzy listening to it! AND it's one of the very few pop songs of any genre with children singing that I can actually stand to listen to! Merry Christmas everyone!
Don't know about the state of poprock music in Austria but this is song is rather well known and somewhat of a classic Christmas song. Roy Wood jumped ship from the ELO ship and formed his wonderful new band Wizzard and this song was huge in 1973 and frankly ever since!
@@thomasmarthinussen8978 I know it's a classic Xmas song in England charting every year, but it's unknown in Austria, it's even impossible to get it played in programs where they play your wishes, even in December. I only discovered the song buying a Roy Wood sampler in the 1990ies in Munich.
@@immortelle3 I understand. Some songs holds special appeal in certain countries while its sadly ignored in others. Kudos to you for appreciating quality music!
Are you familiar with Gilbert OSullivan and his fine Christmas Song from 1974? If not, check it out on UA-cam. There are several versions floating around on the net and they're all great!
@@thomasmarthinussen8978 Yes, i know this song, but it's nothing special for me. But seeing the picture on a clip of the song, it reminded me to the the video clip of this Xmas song from the Carpenters, whom I'm also a fan of: ua-cam.com/video/YR1ujXx2p-I/v-deo.html
Sorry to disagree but Presents for Christmas by the late Solomon Burke is the best Xmas song. I wish it could be Ball Pak Incident, See My Baby Jive, Angel Fingers every day!
Scott Reppert: IT's the top of the 🌲 tree for me. The best Christmas lyrics and music ever. Although It didn't make Number One in the charts(but should have done) but it as ALWAYS been Number One for me.
So ture this will always be number 1 for Christmas 🎄 love the old day's when people cared about what Christmas really meant. It hardly gets a look into these day's especially in London get my point.
I’m not sure but I think I was about 7 years old. Now I’m 60 years old and still love this song. ENGLAND
Same here, Germany

Now that's a great idea
The best Xmas song ever, sadly it's almost completely unknown and never played on the radio in Austria.

Most probably the best lyrics and tune for christmas song.
Best Christmas song ever! And check out his "Wombling Merry Christmas" version; it rocks!
long lived legend.....
The colossus that is Roy Wood . Sheer class !!
A happy Christmas song ! So many are sad.
Well one of them
"Okay kids, just sway left to right in unison"
Kids: "Nope"
There is only one Christmas song. This is it.

Hey squirrel watch this version it might change your mind
Merry Christmas everyone Mary
You don't often hear quotes from the jazz tune Time's a-wastin nor flattened ninths in a pop song... so there you go.
❤️
In the background on stage it looks like a Blue Peter symbol, was this on Blue Peter?
Is that a fender Stratocaster he is playing? Nice I have always wanted a red Stratocaster
When is this guy gonna get a knighthood.
Black Mirror brought me here
does anyone have the 1981 version of the song?
Did I spy Noddy Holder in the background there??
Where was he?
@@themagnanimous1246 Isn't that him @4:02 ?
I wish the last line was "I wish you give your love for Christmas".
That's the English way
The dancers were crap, completely out of time with the song!
Oh Roy !
You should get over your self . Why must you have to Erase all memory of your former band, just so you can grab the limelight!
The The, you are an asshole!!!
Salty you.
