Sitting here in the cold, now an old man, I was privileged to work with these guys the Xmas after it came out,at a well known night club in Oldham. The memories that have just flooded back from when I was a cocky young disc jockey thinking old age would pass me buy has brought tears to my eyes. So you young ones enjoy every moment, it goes quicker than you think. MERRY CHRISTMAS especially to any of the old crew from Baileys or Cats whiskers.
@@annthompson3246 some is wasted on the youth, but as for this youth (30 Yrs) I have been spending the last 9 Christmas volunteering with salvation army, helping them get a Christmas dinner on the table for those how have no home or table to visit
I was from Kent in the 1970s, my mum had gone away, so my grandfather had some family in Norfolk, so we went to visit them, we were welcomed with enthusiasm, I had cousins l had never met, 6 of them 5 girls and 1 boy, we all got on really well. This song was number 1, I can remember dancing to it, my cousin's and I always see or contact each other. The song has fond memories, My cousins mean allot to me. 🎄🎄🇬🇧 🎸💃
This song breaks my heart. The lyrics speak for me in any event. I lost in May my beloved husband after 21 years of happy marriage. We used to enjoy twice the Christmas time as on 24th - Christmas Eve was his birthday also. This year I spent Christmas alone, looking at our pictures from previous years when we were together and happy. Indeed, my tears could melt a mountain of snow.😢
I lost my Dad in December 2013 and my Mum in September 2023. This will be my first Christmas without either of parents. I remember hearing this song growing up but it really hits home now 💔😪
Hi Nell, I lost my Mum in 1975, my Father in 1987 and my sister in 2007. Everything changes but the good Lord has given us the strength to carry on. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Well, it's the same as most for everything else. A load of wankers celebrating the death of a billion murdered and abused animals and eating their corpses!
Another Great Christmas song. Here it is December 2023 and I still love to hear this song... Thankyou for posting this video. Merry Christmas Everyone..Enjoy!!

When they were at their peak I took my young music mad nephew to see them at the local theatre. They absolutely belted it out, and invited 50 kids onstage with them to sing Tiger Feet. My nephew is now over 50 and remembers every minute like it was yesterday.
The only Christmas song I played back in 2003 after my mum died at the start of the month and the funeral at the start of Christmas week. It captured my mood perfectly, and still does. Great song.
My mum passed away in 2012 on the 30th November and I heard my dad playing it the day after. I really had a go at him for it because it was too raw and way too appropriate. I can easily listen to it now though. It's not the cheeriest Christmas song, but it is a belter. We all have these bereavements in our lives and hopefully you too can now listen to this song and not feel too upset. Merry Christmas to you.

This song always used to remind me of good times as a young child with family, friends and presents, even though it has a sad vibe and i didnt really understand what it was talking about, as it was played every xmas. My mother loved xmas time and always made a big effort trying to give everyone the best time! A few years ago i lost my mother close to xmas time and since then the song has a new meaning to me. The lyrics make more sense now.. ❤MUM❤
I have a story so much like yours, we didn't have much and I was youngest of 7 kids. My mother worked so bloody hard after my father became disabled and still always had a wonderful time with plenty of food and little presents. My mum then died shortly before Christmas and never been the same
I've no idea why I looked this up again this time of year. Surprised that there's only one comment since mine 4 years ago. For all those who have lost loved ones this year, enjoy the song but you're never going to be truly alone when you have even just one friend. I've always over this hit and reel it out every year. This year is more poignant than ever, but I know there are many, many people who are going to be feeling the very same way. Love to all those who are going though it too.
Heard this song playing at my local cafe this morning. Thought it was Elvis at first! Arrived home and googled the chorus. Now added to my Xmas day playlist. I’m in Australia and have never heard this song before
Excellent excellent record, one of the very best ever. It was a pleasure to be heartbroken, or even pretend to be, just to wallow drunkenly in the sentiments, lyrics and tune of this great hit from Mud. And what a lovely year 1975 was, especially with this record as part of it.
This song reminds me when I was a kid and life was just a playground. Loving parents, brother, sister, family and friends. I had it all and still have it all. Even though I have lost lots of friends and family along the way, I love my life.

Working in a hospital this Christmas again and this song reminds me of those who don't have anyone at this time of year. People who care for you hold them and don't let them go
It's that time of year again, where we (metaphorically these days) dust off the old Mud record, and give it a spin. Merry Christmas peeps and creeps. Hope you have a good one.
Agree with you 💯. I was born in 1970. Christmas in the 70s was just magical. Now it's so commercialised. Can't recapture that magic of days long gone 😢
Despite not sung live, this performance hit a definitive "10" with me. The strength and message here was enough to carry me through this at a time when I was at an all time low. Surely I'm allowed to have my own memories, cherished or otherwise, and not challenged by the "nonsensical" woke views that exist now but not then. Happy Holidays is your option, not mine.......so whoever you are.......HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The most Elvis Christmas song not done by Elvis. The amount of times I've seen this listed as as Elvis track is testament to the sheer tribute the song is to The King.
This song is not a tribute to Elvis it was written a couple of years before he died and it's quite disrespectful to Mud when people say it's a Elvis song at the end of the day Mud released it not Elvis it's there song and they done a great job
@@ggmm6182 Dude obviously it's a tribute to Elvis. He's imitating his voice and is dressed like him. Even the chords are the exact same as most of Elvis songs.
My mother died last year. Both my dogs died this year, as well as my good friend who lost her battle with pancreatic cancer, it has been a Harrowing 18 months to say the least. Just have to hang on to what keeps you sane, what keeps you honest, what keeps you warm. Don't forsake the gifts bestowed upon yourself, be it talent or technical prowess, virtue, and keep faith that tomorrow will bring forth brighter horizons.
These Christmas songs are so beautiful we would never get them ever again,so let’s treasure these lovely songs and keep them in our memories.Lots of love to ‘this band.
It'll be four years to the day I was listening to this song when I sadly lost a brussel sprout which having slipped from my plate fell to the floor and was set upon by a pack of hungry jack russell terriers. Even today, when I hear this song I still pine for that lost sprout but life goes on and so must we.
Beautiful ......this will be listened to every Christmas season in many many places and homes all over the world.... I wonder why Elvis never did a cover of this song? Im fairly confident that Les Gray RIP would have been delighted if Elvis had made this request.
Beautiful song...wonderful 😍😍😍, I can't believe that this marvel existed ...... wonderful voice, or verses make me die , the part where he believes he recites the verses is an incredible thing ..... a strong, sensitive, sad message for the lack whose someone you love and that the arrival of Christmas goes to amplify it. At Christmas there are many lonely people we have to think about, putting an extra place at the table and insisting on having them with us even if they often resist.. I'm touched by this song, it's perfect in everything, thank you for sharing it ...… ☺️ ☺️ ☺️.

Nice to know I'm not alone... remember this when it came out....I was 20 and single and sad to say lonely at Christmas in 1975, but pleased to say things just got better and better. Anyone who is lonely I recommend you find your local you find your local church ...does not matter what religion, they will make you so welcome. Give it a try ....what have you got to lose. May the good Lord take a liking to you and God bless all who read this.
One of the most relevant Christmas songs, a song about spending Christmas without the girl he loves. I will be thinking of all the lonely people come DEC 25th . Happy Christmas 2020 to you all.
For all those who will be lonely this Christmas , remember things will look up in the future and you must stay strong. Christmas can be a very hard time if you're going through a break up / divorce. Most importantly Try your best to surround yourself with loving family and friends. Have a wonderful Christmas everyone John

Try to imagine a Christmas all alone
That's where I'll be, since you left me
My tears could melt the snow
What can I do, without you?
I've got no place, no place to go
It'll be lonely this Christmas
Without you to hold
It'll be lonely this Christmas
Lonely and cold
It'll be cold, so cold
Without you to hold
This Christmas
Each time I remember the day you went away
And how I would listen to the things you had to say
I just break down, as I look around
And the only things I see
Are emptiness and loneliness
And an unlit Christmas tree
It'll be lonely this Christmas
Without you to hold
It'll be lonely this Christmas
Lonely and cold
It'll be cold, so cold
Without you to hold
This Christmas
You remember last year, when you and I were together?
We never thought there'd be an end
And I remember looking at you then
And I remember thinking that Christmas must have been made for us
'Cause darlin', this is the time of year that you really, you really need love
When it means so very, very much
So it'll be lonely this Christmas
Without you to hold
It'll be so very lonely
Lonely and cold
It'll be lonely this Christmas
Without you to hold
It'll be lonely this Christmas
Lonely and cold

It's that time of year again, where we (metaphorically these days) dust off the old Mud record, and give it a spin. Merry Christmas peeps and creeps. Hope you have a good one.
Back when i used to love Christmas i still do but not the same as a child in 1970s🌲🎁🎄🎅
Agree with you 💯. I was born in 1970. Christmas in the 70s was just magical. Now it's so commercialised. Can't recapture that magic of days long gone 😢

One of my favourites always takes me back to my childhood . The oldies are always the best. God bless wherever you are.
@@ggmm6182 By any chance do you watch Dave Gorman?
This is actually a beautiful song
What a 70's classic . And it will be me again this Christmas
As dad died last year
These were thanking the days of PROPER CHRISTMAS MUSIC
Now into November 2023,Christmas is creeping up again! Hello all from England.
These Christmas songs are so beautiful we would never get them ever again,so let’s treasure these lovely songs and keep them in our memories.Lots of love to ‘this band.
I used to work for Mud. Just the nicest boys in the world, especially Les. RIP my buddy :-(
😭
You were so lucky, what a lovely bloke.
I bet you had some great times and some real laughs....sounds of my youth....cool.....
Essential Xmas song.
I have it on repeat now in October, best christmas song ever made, never gets boring and that more then 40 years later.
Thats the song my husband and i used to dance on an Christmas Eve. Now its a bitter sweet Memorie. My husband died on the 22 of june 2017
It'll be four years to the day I was listening to this song when I sadly lost a brussel sprout which having slipped from my plate fell to the floor and was set upon by a pack of hungry jack russell terriers. Even today, when I hear this song I still pine for that lost sprout but life goes on and so must we.
Rest easy sprout
I feel for you, brother. May your mind rest in peace after longing for the brussel sprout.
😊 great post !!!!!!!!
MMM Mmmmm 😊
i havent laughed this hard at someones comment RIP sprout
Wonderful backing vocals and harmonies.😀
Just love this since my Dad played it when i was 5..MERRY CHRISTMAS DAD..LOVE YOU! I stare in the night stars & you`re shinig down on me..
Like Elvis Presley, his singing voice is very difficult to replicate.
James A Scott there’s a video on here titled Elvis Presley - lonely this Christmas, and it drives me crazy every time I see it! The things people do for views ...
@@JohnHarris-ri4ev and the comment section is closed so i cant make hate comments haha. But i disliked it! Very sad to see what people do for views indeed!
This song brings me back 40 years ago, when i've had that lonely Christmas. But its one of my favorite x-mas songs. Thank you..Mud.
Супер! Так выдержано в определенном стиле от начала песни и до конца, атмосферно. Все органично, нежно, певуче, музыкально, мягкая оркестровка. Слушать одно удовольствие!
Yep.i lost my dad last year.ill NEVER forget the both of us watching debbie harry singing deni deni ,his chin hit the floor .love him .and it was lonely at xmas .merry Christmas dad.
This goes out to my late Aunt and Grandmother me and my family lost last year. May they celebrate Christmas in the sky forever.
Love this Christmas song ❤
Takes me back some good memories
Wonderful song , love it and I miss my whife who passed the way this July. My first chrismas alone.
So Sorry for your loss
@@mjotd8670 Many thanks
Nice to know I'm not alone... remember this when it came out....I was 20 and single and sad to say lonely at Christmas in 1975, but pleased to say things just got better and better. Anyone who is lonely I recommend you find your local you find your local church ...does not matter what religion, they will make you so welcome.
Give it a try ....what have you got to lose.
May the good Lord take a liking to you and God bless all who read this.
"It'll be lonely this lockdown, without you to hold."
Its july. You too?
Arent christmas songs better when its not christmas?!
Scratched Soul yep!
PERFECT comment David
Thank you
🥂🍾
step one: get people you care about
One of the most relevant Christmas songs, a song about spending Christmas without the girl he loves.
I will be thinking of all the lonely people come DEC 25th .
Happy Christmas 2020 to you all.
Perfectly summarizes the Christmas mood in 2020.
For all those who will be lonely this Christmas , remember things will look up in the future and you must stay strong. Christmas can be a very hard time if you're going through a break up / divorce.
Most importantly Try your best to surround yourself with loving family and friends.
Have a wonderful Christmas everyone
John
or someone from your family died. its different kind of loneliness but still u have hole in ur soul.
I do hope so freind divorce is so crap when does the hurt go
Thanks for this.
Thanks John. That might just give people who are feeling low a little boost at the most hateful time of the year when you are lonely
Merry Christmas jhon and all the best for the new year
This sums up my whole Christmas childhood in one song. Memories, family, tiny tears dolly and my mammy's big smile I miss so much!
So lucky to have been around in those decades when every band and group made Christmas songs to try and get to number one , nothing like it nowadays, if it wasn’t for those years what would we have,
We would have nothing.
@@Black.Sabbath you’re so right
