- Hey guys, In this video I was trying to play with two short pips, one on the forehand and one on the backhand and I took the opportunity to play a championship to test my level playing against some good players.
The objective was to learn and practice the difficulties tactically by playing with a style like this and thus being able to better teach my girlfriend who plays with a short pips in Forehand.
I was also taking the opportunity to technically evolve my game with a short pips on both backhand and forehand to be able to test and create content with more property for you guys when Dr. Neubauer's material arrived.
Thanks for watching and please leave a comment because it is very important for me to continue making videos!

Great video Leo and enjoy a lot your show .. very entertaining and just subscribed .. I myself play Waran 2.0mm FH and Tenergy 80FX 2.1mm BH (good set up at least for me who come into mid 50’s years old haha) .. success with your channel
nice! At 0.16..thats an illegal serve by the guy in Blue...not tossing the ball straight but tossing towards his body...I am surprised seeing more than 50% of good players missing out on the basics of clean serving all over the world!..Even pro players being warned in WTT championship tournaments..Leonardo, am a fan of your playing style. Keep sharing these videos!
Tooooppp

Excelent ! please what is your blade ?
Leonardo, this is such a great timing for a great video! I literally yesterday explored possibility of Matador plus fast short pips setup. I play single-sided short pips Penhold, mostly close to the table active blocking and attacking. My current setup is Galaxy T6s and Spinlord Degu.
Could you help me clarify some things?
1) What sponge thicknesses of both pips are used in this video?
2) How much spin could you produce on serves and on strokes with both pips?
3) How much deception on passive blocking would you say those pips produce on this blade?
4) How much those pips are sensitive to incoming spin?
Thanks.
First of all thank you for your comment, I probably going to make a video answering some questions, because it is hard to explain by text some things.
but the sponge thicknesses:
Spinlord Waran - 1.8mm
Nittaku Moristo Sp - Max
about the spin, both pips produces a lot of spin with the proper technique. and the deception it also depends on your technique but with Dr. Neubauer matador it feels more comfortable to do so (for me).
I'll talk more deeply about all those questions in my next video. Stay tuned
Thank you, that's a valuable information.
I was surprised to learn that Moristo was max thickness, as it produces very short ball on soft blocks. This is probably an indication of your great backhand technique.
@@LeonardoArata Is there any chance we can have an idea of when this video might come out? I am also really interested in Matador + Waran combo, and you make it look like totally worth it :) More in-depth information will be really helpful. Thanks.
@@echasnovski I'm planning to record and post during this or next week, what would you like to know?
@@LeonardoArata Basically, all questions above (bullets 2-4). Maybe add the following observations:
- How easy it is to make passive and active blocks? Of course it can be done to a certain degree but how well this setup is good for it.
- How easy to play short (near the net) and long (away from table) strokes?
- What is the ability for a flat hit and top-spins?
I understand, this is a lot of question. Sorry for troubles :)
I can't believe you get enough spin to serve with SPs on the forehand!
I play with Waran/1,8 mm on forehand. All my opponents are telling me that is absolutely insane that I can get so much spin on serves and they return the balls into the net. I still say this is insane! Some voices are saying the Der Material Spezialist Firestorm Soft has at least the same amount of spin. This will be my next try.
I play Waran 2.0mm FH on 7ply allwood Butterfly Hadraw SK .. it is fast and quite spiny on slow blade
Great Job :)
I'm a very good video editor 😂😂😂
Great matches, do you know that penhold guy's setup? It is odd to see penhold lp twiddling style from a guy like him
Blade: Hallmark Combination
Tibhar Grass D Tecs Ox
Yasaka Rakza 7 Soft
Hi Leonard,I love your video, full of energy and love of table tennis. Could you please let me know what kind of matador you use? Is it matador, matador texa, matador texa carbon, or matador texa balsa? Many thanks.
I like better Matador Texa Carbon, I think it fits perfect for my gameplay. But I tried matador and it is really good if you don't like too much power on forehand side.
Body language in yellow shorts was “I’m gonna lose” from the start.
I decided puting a combination of long and short pips. I twiddle when I get a chance.
Hard to play with long and short pips, I really wanted to do that haha
Obrigadao!
hi what size mm of your moristo sp and waran tnx
I don't remember really, sorry for that, but I always try to use 2.0mm or max
Keren bro
In this video, what exactly is your backhand and forehand ? Thanks
Thank's for your comment, I'm using Waran on forehand and Moristo sp on backhand =)
what is your blade?
No sliding when plaiyng SP forehand, but keep the hight level!!
I need to hit the ball high when playing with Short Pips on forehand which makes difficult for my sliding hit 😂😂😂
What blade did you use in this video?
I don't remember for sure, haha maybe Dr Neubauer Matador or Bty Kenta Matsudaira Alc
which one are you using on the forehand? I assume is the moristo sp but wanted to be sure. I used waran in 1.5 mm thickness but had tone of trouble on any backhand top spin generation so quit playing with it and SP
In this video I used waran on the forehand, I used to play moristo on the backhand some years ago!
@@LeonardoArata interesting you went max thickness for backhand and not forehand. Any particular reason for choosing these thicknesses?
Quais as espessuras das esponjas?
Spinlord Waran - 1.8mm
Nittaku Moristo Sp - Max
Opa, blz Leonardo!?
Fala Marcio tudo bem?
It was a bit painfull to see you play with short pips on your f-hand. Only because you got such an amazing f-hand loop, so I hope you stick with backside on your forhand in the future.
I love to test and try other stuff, I love to play with short pips on forehand though, it sounds great when you flat hit a ball properly, have you tried? hahahah I recommend it
@@LeonardoArata Yeah, I tried but it doesn´t suit my playstyle. Yes, its fun to test new stuffs.
Hi, Could you please tell me the thickness of sponge on your rubbers? Also, how did you feel comparing these two rubbers? Was one better than the other? Did you feel more confident with your long pimple on backhand or short pimple? I am thinking of trying Moristo SP on backhand and I am playing now with Giant Dragon Meteorite 1,0 mm sponge. Appreciate your input and keep up the good work!
Ooh, I saw that some of my questions about sponge thickness was answered by you in another viewer question.
