The Kingdom of Kush was completely forgotten once it met its end.
With the renewed interest in the classical arts of Greece and Rome, the Renaissance rediscovered the existence of Kush. Still, it was not explored until Napoleon’s expedition to Egypt in 1798.
It was not until the early 20th century that the Kingdom of Kush received its rightful place in history. When the first archaeological survey of Nubia took place between 1907 and 1911, the distinctive cultural aspects of the Kingdom of Kush emerged, and it was finally seen as a separate entity from Egypt.

'...To both African and Egyptian Culture ' last time I checked Egypt was part of Africa why try to create a nonexistent disparity?
Thanks for pointing that out. I had to comment on that one as well.
Devil's advocate, maybe it's due to Egypt's influence and cultural blending with middle eastern peoples?
@@adamkadir3803 well, the Nubians are the closest culturally to the Egyptians or were people in the Middle East building Pyramids? That aside King Piye after conquering Egypt decided to do a spiritual purification and made his relative the high priestess... 🤷♂️
White man🤦🏾♂️😂😂, that’s really crazy tho
I literally came to the comments as soon as I heard that part. Like what? Glad it was top liked and everyone else recognizes the bullshit also.
Fun fact Meroe and Aksum where among the first Christians in the world
****Ancient Egyptians and kush Nubians are brothers who separated. Stop trying to separate them. They are the same line. DNA evidence shows this.
Ishmael and Isaac were also half-brothers.
The conflict still rages on today.
Keep in mind the Egyptians were a African race as well. Many believe other wise often suggesting they were closer to Middle Eastern decent. Remember Egyptians are indigenous to the African continent like just like all the rest of the ethnic groups.
When u find a pyramid in the middle east then I'll believe it
There are pyramids in Sudan, in East Africa dummy @@vondongaming
@captivatinghistory You're going to hate me for this. You're going to think that I'm only posting this to stir up trouble but; these points are SO IMPORTANT that I'm willing to risk it.
I want us all to notice the "slight of tongue" used in this video to, do as so many other historians do, which is to try to separate Egypt from Africa. This video does so more skillfully than most by doing so in a light and complementary fashion. Using statements like "they (the Kushites) married the artistic ferver of the Egyptians with the vibrancy of African traditions" and "Kush" provided some of the most significant contributions to "both African and Egyptian cultures." Both statements are very complementary to Kush/African cultures while also subltly establishing in the viewer's minds that Africa and Egypt are somehow different places. This is done in the face of the obvious fact that Egypt is literally in Africa.
And although I'm coming off as very nit picky I believe, as most do, that the devil is in the details. More commonly other historical sources on this topic would also boldly depict Caucasians in Egyptian garb to pass that imagery off as the "authentic Egyptian" in spite of the fact that Egyptians repeatedly depicted themselves as a brown skinned (African) people. You didn't seem to go that far and I appreciate your restraint.
I know that this type of commentary is usually ignored at best and most certainly never seriously replied back to by the content creator but; eventhough I respect your platform for me to see this and not speak on it would be a great, great disservice. I thank you for covering such an AMAZING topic and I look forward to the genuine corrections that you, as a highly respected source and supplier of history, are willing to make.
I agree full on. The ancient Egyptian and Kush Nubian were the same people. Siblings cousins.
What you say is correct. Egyptian civilization was initially black. However, over the centuries and millennia, Egypt it was successively invaded and ruled by several white groups such as the Hyksos, Assyrians, Persians, Macedonians, Romans and finally the Arabs so it went progressively from Black to Brown to the White we see today.
Bros written all this just to say in his mind >I'm related to ancient Egyptians who built pyramids and not just a descendant of a spear throwing slave
@@eastafricanist9156 nope most eyptians today are still the same a small percent are arabs
Thanks for clarifying this. I think it's important!
Totally fascinating. Thank you for such a great video.
You did not cover how Taharka and the Kushites saved King Hezekiah and Judah from Sennacherib and the Assyrians. 2nd Kings 19:9.
He only had 10 mins
“And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he is come out to fight against thee: he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying, 10Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.”
2 Kings 19:9-10 KJV
Cush is a son of Kham in the bible (Genesis) Cush is also the father of Nemrod who was a mighty hunter and King in the land of shinar (modern day Iraq) King Taharqa is also mentioned in the bible.
Yes Taharqa saved the Hebrews from the Assyrians
Which proved they were black
It’s a story guys don’t take it literally. Romans took the story and put their own spin to it
I believe the persons you call “Kham” and “Nemrod” are Ham and Nimrod respectively in English Bibles.
The word “Kham” exists in no English translations/versions of the Bible.
Curious to know what “bible” you get the names “Kham” and “Nemrod” from.
“These [Bereans] were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
Acts 17:11
The Kish Empire in Africa was first part of the first Sumerian Empire of Kish. Many of Kush's names still bear witness to the size of the Kush Empire, for example. Kish in Babylon, Hindu Kush, Kush in Anatolia, Kush in Egypt or the name of the paradise Kush that Moses in the OT. ,1. Moses 2:13, described on the upper reaches of the Euphrates. The first empire after the flood, the empire of Sumer = Kush, was much larger than it is described in the history books. It stretched from India to the Caucasus and through Babylon to Egypt. The symbol of the two coiled snakes was found in Sumer, Anatolia and India. The king of Kish was Kush, and his son Sapdeka the son of Kush.🤠
The Bible is absolutely fascinating to me!
Sometimes translated as “Ethiopia” in some Bibles.
The “eunuch” reading Isaiah that Philip baptized was
“a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias [Isaiah] the prophet.”
Acts 8:27-28
“Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? Then also you can do good who are accustomed to do evil.”
Jeremiah 13:23
Great video 👍
The Egyptians we're african
Egyptians: call themselves kemet (black)
Egyptians: draw themselves with black skin/textured hair
Egyptians: left Afro picks in their royal tombs
Modern propaganda: Egyptians weren’t African
@@JACKtheSEXYPIRATE true
They try to make Egypt / Kemet look hyper-distinct from Nubia / Kush, but the relationship between the two was actually closer to than that of the Greeks and Romans. Kemet / Egypt was an outgrowth of Kush that gained autonomy, and was at times an ally and an enemy, but their civilization, science, knowledge, people, institutions, and religion actually derived from the Kushites.
Oh I love that picture of Rameses II on his chariot fighting the Nubians
Some of the Nubians are drawn the same color as him
Were Nubia and Kush the same people?
Yes
Yes they were.
Yes they are todays sudan somalia Ethiopia Eritrea Djibouti those are Kushite people.
Only the modern day nubians are the descendants of the kushites. people from ethiopia and somalia are cushitic yes but they are not related to the nubians.
@@BilalMarcus
Wrong. Even the video, it documents how Nubia was an outgrowth of Kush. These were the original people of the Sudan prior to Arab invasion after the 7th century.
Guys Africa is NOT a country its a CONTINENT made of if MANY culturaly different countries. There is a country in AFRICA that is almost totally a white population. North America is ALSO a continent. Does that mean Canada and the USA are the same and have identical cultures? Egypt DOES have its own unique culture, so does Sudan, Nigeria, ethiopia, and Angola. They are all indeed AFRICAN COUNTRIES but i dont think theres really such thing as a continental culture. There are countries in Asia that dont really have an Asian culture. Canada and the USA have VASTLY different cultures. Idk what the mix up is here but the only thing the vid got wrong is saying there is a cuture specific to Africa..
That is true just like I am black from Northern Louisiana and we have a different culture up here than a Blacks from the New Orleans area... but we are all black. Why don't you guys try to make these distinctions in Europe?

2nd study: The 2005 testing of melanin levels of Egyptian mummies was performed by German researchers which resulted in conclusions exactly as Dip said, as displayed in the following:
"During an excavation headed by the German Institute for Archaeology, Cairo, at the tombs of the nobles in Thebes-West, Upper Egypt, three types of tissues from different

Skin sections showed particularly good tissue preservation, although cellular outlines were never distinct. Although much of the epidermis had already separated from had already separated from the

don’t ever play with the african ness or blackness of ancient Egypt again in your life, or I will humiliate you even more.
You should have known I would burry you alive when I brought that quote out.
Interesting that someone here mentioned that “Nubia” may derive from the word “gold.”
Got me thinking about Havilah and the River Pishon where there is gold that is “good.”
Of course the rivers Tigris and Euphrates are still known today.
But where is the land Havilah and the river Pishon today?
“And a river went out Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
11The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.”
Genesis 2:10-12
Very interesting
🤣There's no way you can explain the history of kush and the powerful nubians of east africa in ten minutes. Their history is simply to long and spans back too many thousands of years, prior to recorded history.🖤👑💯

Egypt is in Africa .also Egypt is land ham / or ham land of Africa.
The Bible says that Kush (or Cush) is the son of Ham, grandson of Noah, and father of Nimrod, correct?

@@Matt_Hew The thing that non african people don’t realize is that Ancient Kemet culture is so similar to even today modern day black africa in it’s cosmogony, religion and even language that when we see you 🤡 claiming it was arab or some other BS, we laugh at you non stop. For example, the ancient egyptian spoke a language called Medu Netjer, the Bamileke and Bamoun people, who trough their oral history and migratory route, cosmogony and writing script trace their roots to the Nile Valley have for mother language a language called “Medu Mba”. In Both Kemetic language and Medu Mba, the word Medu means words. For the word sacred for us it’s “Ntah”. Sounds familiar to “Mefu Netjer” which means sacred words (hence the word hyroglyph the Greeks gave to the writing script) . In west Cameroon where the Bamileke/Bamoun reside even the river has the same name as word “Water/ocean” in Ancient Egypt which is “Noun”. Look up Noun definition on google then lookup Noun river Cameroon. This stuff exist with damm near 60% of ancient Egyptian language. 😂😂 You can play this game with african-americans but you can't play this foolishness with somebody like me who speaks and learns Medu Mba on a daily with my Bamileke cameroonian mother. Now you made yourself look dumb again. In african history one of the greats basics is the migrations. If you don't know this, then restrain talking about ancient egypt or africa for the matter, or else you will make yourself look dumber. 😂
0:56 5000BC but the text reads 500BC?...Critical error in my opinion
Kemet / Egypt was an offshoot of Kushite / Nubian civilization, not vice versa.
Egypt began in the south. And the First Pharoah, Narmer, of the first Dynasty was from the south {Upper Egypt},
“There was empires in Africa called Kush”
“Egypt was the place that Alexander the Great went, He was so shocked at the mountains with black faces, Shot up they nose to impose what basically, Still goes on today, you see?” - Nasir Jones
Kush is Son Of Rama .

Question here, why is it written palestina on a land that clearly was not palestina in that time.
It supposed to be the land of Cn'aan.
Read the book The Beginning and the End by Ibn Kathir. This is all I can say about history.
"To both Egyptian and African cultures"...uhm I think somebody shouldn't be teaching history if they are this clueless
Bro, Sub-Saharan and Supra-Saharan Africa are very distinct places. Both are Africa, yes, but claiming them one is like saying Western and Eastern Europe are one. Modern-day African Americans can't claim their ancestors built the pyramids in the same way the Russians can't claim their ancestors built the Rome.
@@alasdeangel3929 but white people like America DO claim ancient Greece or Rome and have for centuries! What are you on about?
@@DirtyEdon thank you for pointing that out.
he is either more accepting of whites claiming ancient European civilizations or he simply believes it just doesn't exist?
Either way his comment is hard to take seriously seeing that New Zealanders, Australians and Americans do this on a regular basis.
@@alasdeangel3929 the term Sub-Saharan was created by Arabian scholars in the mid early 1900s to separate North Africa from the rest of the continent.
In ancient times there never was a Sub-Saharan Africa so it doesn't exist

please if you don't know history ask historiyan chush is the name of a person he was the king of ethiopia his son is Namrud he ruled the hole horn of africa he is mainly the king of thiopia and ethiopia is the land of chush!
Egyptian history is African history why would you separate the two. and Kush Kingdom was the first to rule over Egypt.. the Kush Kingdom is basically the same as the Egyptian king them because they basically created the Egyptians.
@1:53 I thought Sub-Saharan African, anywhere below the Sahara desert, that where the landscape was very green with lots of trees. Or has the term has changed, to the meaning of black.
I have read in older books that sub-Saharan refers to the people there and that they are black where as northern African people are less black...perhaps even Caucasian especially where Afric is so close to Arabia and Spain. But more and more genetic studies are showing that northern African people are from all over the region including subSaharan Africa which wasn't as isolated as people thought.
"After the Kushites overthrew Libyan rule over Egypt, the Egyptians welcomed their Kushite rulers,"
Because Kushites were the original Egyptians...
Nubia means gold and Nubian pharaohs mean the golden pharaohs, the golden dynasties
I didn’t know that “Nubia” possibly meant “gold.”
