Thank you much for this review! It's as if you KNEW I didn't want to read the manual! I just bought it from the B&H NYC! Thanks!
incredible review dude. Watched 5 other vids before this. You broke it all down efficiently!
Nice review, Aaron. Very informative.
Great video AB! Thank you.
Looking to dethrone the Rode Wireless Go! Great move if the Receiver mounts on a cold shoe... 👍
Looks like they really went all out to address the needs of professional users. Now, we just need to see how it does in a variety of recording environments, and whether there are any drop outs when the presenter turns around, thus blocking line of sight with his/her body.
Thanks! Great Work!
Very informative video
Hello! Unfortunately, my recordings with my iphone 8 and the Blink 500 pro pick up a bunch of static. Is it possible that my lightning port is damaged and causing that hissing sound in my audio recordings?
Awesome
Hi -thank you for your review! I using the Saramonic Blink500 Pro B2 --with a Canon VIXIA HF G40. When I recorded using the Blink 500 Pro-there was a slight hiss under the recorded audio. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this? The "Audio Mix" feature on my camera was set to off. I'd appreciate your assistance. Thank you again for your review!
The Saramonic Blink 500 Pro B2's receiver offers a line level output. The Canon HG40 has a stereo microphone input. So there is an impedance mismatch. Have you tried lowering the input signal of the camcorder manually? You may also toggle in the microphone attenuator setting (12 dB). See the Canon HFG40 manual at pages 81 through 84: www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/268138.pdf >Mark
the old blink 500 had a latency of 80 millisecond! thats a 2 frames late on a 25fps timeline, thats unacceptable! is the new pro better?
Do you see the difference between the voice and picture of 2 frames in the video using the Blink 500??
@@larissetvvieira9200 yes we do
@@DaphneIkingOfficial You mean in the video above? I don't see it at all.
@@larissetvvieira9200 They might have fix that in post. Moving the audio to match the video. Can they ?
It seems like a very hand product set - although if I were to base the audio quality on the review audio, it does sound very treble heavy, tinny and and highly compressed, compared to a traditional PRO grade Sony/Rode etc. Not sure I'd put it in the 'PRO' category, but seems flexible enough for pro-sumer. On a side note, can one charge and use the product at the same time. I.e. if you get a low battery warning mid-shoot, can you plug in a powerbank etc. and run it indefinitely?
Yes. The transmitters and receivers both have micro-USB charging ports on them for charging while in use, or away from the case. >Mark
I would not expect more than the quality you describe for a wireless system costing just a few hundred dollars. It is a product full of features but lagging in sound quality.
I was trying to connect my Deity V-Mic D3 Pro into one of the transmitters and it wouldn't power on, this video says they provide plug-in power though.
The Deity Microphones V-Mic D3 Pro is designed to be s powered primarily by the internal 51-hour rechargeable battery; plug-in power (bias voltage) from your camera or mixer is only required to turn on/off the mic. >Mark
Thank you for this review. I have a question according to batterylife. When you don't use it. Should you let the cable plugged in? Should you watch the status of the battery - so that it don't drop under 40 Percent of charge. Do you understand my question?
There s no reason to leave the system continuously plugged into a charger. >Mark
Do you have any battery drain problem on the base? My base drained the battery even when everything is fully charged.
Batteries may last up to 8 hours per charge. Please contact us at: askbh@bandh.com >Mark
Looks great no recording in the transmitters? :(
How long does it take to fully charge?
The battery will charge up fully in about three hours. >Mark
I want to use 2 mics to record my son's baseball games, with one mic for a commenter in the stands, and another to hot mic a coach on the field. Is there a way to do that with this system that allows the two mic'd people to hear each other?
Please e-mail us: askbh@bandh.com >Mark
Can I use rode Handheld Mic Adapter for the Saramonic blink 500? please answer.
No. The Rode adapter is not correctly sized to work with the Saramonic Blink 500 system transmitter. >Mark
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Very nice
I have a problem with the headphone output. What kind of headphones did not connect - it is very quietly audible. Although the volume is 6/6.

how quickly do the units charge from the case? If I only have a 30 min break, will it charge from nothing to full?
Battery Charging Time: 3 Hours for a full charge. >Mark
If I were to get two of these kits, will there be any tx/rx frequency issues with four mics and two rx?
I would expect no radio frequency conflict issues at all:

@@BandH Thank you!
Not so worried about the latency but frequent silence breaking even you are facing the receiver would set you back. I have encounter the same issue with blink 500 series as well. Has anyone encounter the same issue?
We have not run across this issue. >Mark

I’ll stick wth the new tentacle sync!?!
Hello. Is there a big difference between the Saramonic B500 PRO and the regular B500 ? Is it worth $100 extra ?
With built-in OLED displays, better mics, and extended range, this is a great wireless mic system for UA-cam videos, live streaming or a variety of other recording applications.
The whole package is designed to give you mission-critical performance in the field. For instance, Saramonic knows you need accessible, dependable controls on location to get the levels right and troubleshoot any issues on the spot. That’s why the company has built the Blink 500 Pro with a high-contrast, 128 x 64 pixel OLED display. You’ll never be in the dark when it comes to controlling the signal from the device. Saramonic also knows you demand long battery life from your gear, which is why it upped the run time from 5 hours to 8 hours on a single charge. And, the company knows you need options in the microphone department.
Whether you choose the single-transmitter or dual-transmitter system, you’ll love the included carrying case. It’s durable and sleek, and it lets you get all the devices talking to each other quickly with one-touch pairing. Plus, in the case, the receiver and transmitter devices charge in 3 hours and show real-time charging status.
Other goodies are also included, such as lavalier clips, foam windscreens, and furries for the transmitter to help with wind noise. You also get a zipper bag for transportation, charging cables for multiple USB types, and dedicated 3.5mm cables for cameras (TRS) and compatible smartphones (TRS to TRRS). >Mark
Awesome explanation…mine just arrived. Would you recommend turning the transmitters/Recv off while in charging case? Would they even charge in the off position?? Thank you again!!
Turning the transmitters and recoveries off to charge is recommend. They will charge when they are off. Ones the batteries are fully charged the case will automatically detect that and will stop charging.
@@BandH thank you for your response! I’m testing these now with the Canon M50 Mii….I am getting no recording..the rec/trans are paired…I’m getting a signal on the trans when speaking…but when I plug the mic into the camera..I am getting zero sound on the recording…is there something I need to do with camera to allow an external mic.. or does it happen automatically…looking for manual now🙃🙃🙃!!!
@@BandH hey thanks again..disregard last…the cable going into camera was loose…all working fine!!

I know the distance range of the this new unit will not beat the Rode Wireless Go but I would like to know with this new model, what is the max distance range this from the receiver is with clear line off sight ?
Within the 2.4 GHz spectrum, the Blink 500 Pro boasts automatic channel hopping to mitigate noise and dropouts at a line-of-sight distance of up to 328 feet, double the maximum distance of the standard Blink 500. For optimal performance, environments with limited Wi-Fi / 2.4 GHz traffic and minimal physical obstructions are recommended. >Mark
My case is messing up. any other way to pair without the case?
Pairing may only be established via the charging case. >Mark
In yor honest opinion, how do these compare to the Rode wireless go II ? I need ease of use and quality sound at 150'
Given the price, included lavaliere microphones, and all of the included accessories - they compare very well. >Mark

What noise level does it make when everything is silent? Tks
Receiver: Audio Output Level -60 to -20 dBV
Transmitter: Audio Input Level -42 to -30 dBV (at 0 dB Gain)
Lavalier Mic: Maximum SPL 110 dB SPL

Is it possible to use the transmitter from this pro system to a receiver from the old blink 500 system? Why I asking is because I didn't see any separat receiver for the pro system available.
Or if you have two pro b1 kit. Can you pair the transmitter from one kit to the other, so you have two transmitters connected to one receiver? I ask, because you mentioned that the only way to pair was to use the bag. And the bag which comes with pro b1 kit only holds one transmitter
A yoga center will probably buy this pro b2 kit, to make live sessions with one or two teachers in the same room. But sometimes they have two classes at the same time, with one teacher in each room.
The Blink 500 Pro and Blink 500 are completely different systems that operate on different frequencies. The components from the Blink 500 Pro series can not be paired with Blink 500 series components. Two Blink 500 PRO transmitters will not pair with one Blink 500 PRO receiver >Mark
@@BandH Thank you for your answer Mark! Then I know they are two different systems. But your last sentence maybe came out a little wrong? The blink 500 Pro B2 is doing exactly that, pairing two Blink 500 Pro transmitters with one Blink 500 Pro receiver :-)
(I continued my research and found on several places that its possible to first buy Blink 500 Pro B1, and then later add an extra transmitter. So then it should be possible to buy two Blink 500 Pro kits and then combine them when necessary)
@@BandH Hello again Mark! I just received an answer from Saramonic support. They say:
"Yes, transmitter from the blink 500 pro system can match with receiver from the old blink 500 system;
So far, there is not separat receiver or separat transmitter of blink 500 to sell, but in near future, separate receiver or transmitter will sell;
Yes, if you have two blink 500 pro b1 kit, you can pair the transmitter from one kit to the other, so you have two transmitters connected to one receiver;"
We found the volume of the recording a bit to little. Do you have a tip for us?
Re-check the audio gain levels of your input device. >Mark
are these transmitters compatible with Blink 500 RXUC Dual-Channel USB-C Wireless Microphone Receiver too?
I am afraid the two different systems are not compatible. The Blink Pro uses different protocols >Mark

What's the difference between Pro and Prox? Which one do you recommend?
The Blink 500 ProX is the next generation of the popular Blink 500 Pro system. It serves up some notable improvements, including higher digital-audio quality, smaller and lighter, updated design, lower latency/voice delay, more wireless reliability, upgraded OLED displays with real-time metering, longer battery life, and more. >Mark<
Blink 500 Pro vs Blink 500 ProX:
Smaller and lighter updated design
Advanced next-generation 2.4 GHz wireless
Higher-resolution, 16-bit / 48 kHz digital audio
Wider 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response
Less latency at ≤8ms
Higher signal-to-noise ratio at ≥84 dB
Longer battery life at 10 hours on a full charge
Upgraded OLED displays with real-time metering
USB-C charging on transmitter and receiver
Charging case with 2000mAh internal battery can charge the system up to 2.5 times, for up to 35 hours of power on the go

@@BandH Thanks 🙏
why Type C on a case and micro USB on a unit?? Dumb move.
That is actually because of the limitation of size. To include a USB-C port would have made the transmitter larger, which we wanted to avoid while still giving users the ability to charge each component separately.
@@SaramonicUSA Thank you for your answer.
@@SaramonicUSA will the Blink 500 Pro Transmitters pair with the Blink 500 RXDi Dual-Receiver with MFi Certified Apple Lightning Connector? And also how much phone battery does that Receiver actually drain? (And you did have usb-c on the old transmitters, but you did cram a lot of new goodies into this one!!! ❤️) and can I use a lav mic with a TRRS into the Blink 500 Pro transmitter? Or only accepts TRS ends? And last question when will it ship - site says it’s only preorders just like BnH :(
How about latency?
We have not experienced any significant latency issues. >Mark
I have issue, I bought the first Gen Blink 500 II
That had 20mps latency and I bought the pro
Still issue with latency but round 13mps.
Great product but so surprised that they didn’t fix it on Pro.
Why i lose signal?
Be sure to check your distance/range, any obstructions, radio activity that may be causing interference in the immediate area and battery strength. >Mark
That means that if you miss the case then there is no Longer be usable 😭😭😭😭
3:58 The microphone’s sensitivity has nothing to do with its sound character. A very sensitive microphone with bad frequency response and transient fidelity can be plenty loud - with a garbage sound. Sensitivity is simply how much SPL is needed to move the membrane to reach a certain voltage, i.e. volume.
How’d they manage to use a micro usb to usb c cable and not make the whole system the far superior usb c lol
Fee con's on this
1. Charging - the whole world is now switching to usb c
2. Pairing - the device itself hat to be able to pair without a case.
3. Output level - whether in menu or buttons but the device has to.
The device seems to be good in sound but these are the main factors to consider as well.
The Blink 500 units we received are absolute garbage - We owned the previous non LCD versions and had no problems - these units haver been back to the shop 3 times in 6 months. Receiver broke, one mic broke, charging unit broke, then intermittent cut offs from repaired units. Customer service does not exist - warranty not worth the paper it's written on!
I am sorry to hear you have experienced these issues. Most of our customers have been delighted with this system over the same period of time. Please e-mail us; askbh@bandh.com >Mark
Great! Now fix your composition....too much headroom!
Bought this just two years ago-- second transmitter won't turn on. Totally dead. Sits in charger (red light on) but does not show battery indictor on the screen. Absolute trash product. And severely overpriced.
Beware! They only last 2 years. The back-lights stop working then and you can't see any info. I contacted Saramonic directly and asked if I could purchase spares so I could replace them myself and they said they don't sell them. So I basically have mics that I can't use anymore! Shocking customer service. They offered me 10% off a new set but why would I buy more when they don't last. I only used them about 40 times in total as well! I wish I'd known, I would have bought the Rodes instead.
I have a problem of noise when recording with my GH5. My level in the GH5 is -12db and Saramonic + 5db. Is there something that I miss in the setting ?
