- Haynes Repair Manual came in clutch on this job. I highly recommend getting one of those books if you own an Xterra. They are very detailed and it will help you save money by doing the work yourself instead of paying three to four times the amount when going to a dealership. I called a local Nissan dealership to see how much they would charge for this job and they quoted me $225. I competed this job for only $80. Save your money!

I have an 08 Xterra. I replaced the driver’s door switch as my window was down and wouldn’t come up. I bought a new motor/regulator in one. If I unplug the old motor and plug on the new motor without actually installing it-is that a way to see if the new motor works? I tried that but nothing happened. Does the new motor/regulator have to be installed in the door to work?
Hey. Good question. As long as the window regulator is connected, along with the window switch, it should operate. If there is power to both I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Check fuses as well?
@@TheNonnell thanks! Where are the fuses?
They should be on the passenger side of the vehicle near the glove box. Also, if you’re looking to do a lot of work on the truck yourself I’d recommend buying a Haynes repair manual. It explains how to repair your vehicle, do maintenance, and shows you where everything is laid out.
@@TheNonnell Thanks. The motor needed to be grounded. I touched it against the metal on the door before installing and it worked!!! :) My window is fixed and working now! :)
That’s awesome! Glad it’s fixed!
