It’s December 31st, 2024, and I’m still enjoying the music of Michael Prophet, one of the greatest and most talented reggae icons in the Roots Reggae community. He had a unique crying tenor vocal style and a distinctive deep brown voice. Truly one of the best Roots Reggae Dub legends. Rest in power-your music lives on!
Surely Michael Prophet, must be the greatest reggae artist of all times! What a wonderful, beautiful, artist, Michael was . Whatever he sings he brings such, class and heart felt sincerety within his vasted numbers of , such timeless masterpieces ! He's class all the all! R I P. Legend.
I don't know about GOAT, but he was certainly one of the best, if not the best dub vocalists of all time. His voice and his style as a vocal contortionist, were perfectly suited for roots dub. There are very few others I would place in that category. It takes a pure crooner to pull it off well. I remember an old interview with the Radics and even they were impressed, and they backed practically everyone of note in the late 70;s early 80;s so that is saying something. He had this talent when he was still green as an artist. Big ups to those that recorded this so beautifully and saved it for posterity.

Wicked! Miss the singer so much - never got to see him live. A few years ago I was in London for the Carnival, Prophet was in the Brixton mass, but I had booked my flights back one day too early and missed his show. One of my regrets.
