The only reason Southgate got the England job after the Allardyce 'scandal' was because they wanted someone squeaky clean. The only reason England have reached the latter stages in recent tournaments is because they've had piss easy group stages. Soon as they've played a decent team they've been found wanting. In the premier league United will be up against decent teams every other week. In the next few years (while we're rebuilding) we need a manager who can help us win games where we're the underdogs. Southgate will never be that man.
This is just a lie isn’t it? Who did England get knocked out to in 2016 again? Southgate is the only manager to defeat a top nation within 90 minutes for England in nearly 60 years, not saying I want him as manager but to say he hasn’t done a good job for England means that no one has ever done a good job for England barring Alf Ramsey.
Every single fan needs to keep as vocal as possible in how little we want that bell end as manager!

@@Lioris13 it's simply not going to happen. The only reason he's done this video is because he did some stats research after the initial tabloid link and he doesn't want to waste it.
Don't forget the fan backlash among other things is why Greenwood didn't come back.
The noise when it was revealed the board were considering bringing him in, put a damper to that plan.

Forget his record, forget his style, forget his tactics. When it comes to managing blue chip clubs, especially Man Utd, the key prerequisites are, suave, charisma, stature and an ability to command a respect that borders on fear factor. And I’m not just describing Fergie here, think of all the great managers throughout history; Busby, Shankly, Pep, Clough, Lippi, Jose, Ancelotti, Cruyff, they’re all cut from the same cloth. You need that aura before you even start a conversation.
Also worth noting that come the start of next season is will be two months shy of FIFTEEN YEARS since he last managed in club football

Is it a prerequisite for a manager or any potential manager to be a friend / fan of Rashford? Mourinho, Ole, Ragnick and Erik seem to be pressured into keeping Rashford happy and as soon as Rashford mood dips managers are fired. I know correlation doesn't equal causation but there's something wierd going on.

I agree with every point apart from using his previous premier league stats.... he took over a team the year after he was playing for it and it was also 14 years ago... you cant suggest he's not had the ability to change just a little bit in 14 years??

Yeah, we can all agree that Southgate with England isn't the manager we'd want managing utd. However Ste using Southgates stats as Boro manager is just stupid. You can put Pep or Mouriniho as manager of that Boro side, and they probably wouldn't have got an awful lot more out of the Boro side than Southgate did.

I think he was using them stats as a correlation to what he still does to this day. Looking at how England struggle and even falter agains clubs of equal parity or better and not being able to show adversity. But ya boro isn’t really much to hold a torch to. But for also having a part time job for the past how long to actually having to do the work everyday day for year/years to coke doesn’t bode well either

He picked Sterling based on the tap in goals he scored for Man City because City have so many options that when they play the ball across the 6 yard box, Sterling races in for a tap in. England did not have that luxury of great players around Sterling and Italy just man marked him so he could not get near the ball in the penalty area. Did Garish WaistCoat spot that and make any changes ? No, he just expected England to bang their heads against the Italian defensive wall even harder.

1. GS comes in and slightly underachieves on his aforementioned premier league record with united. we are 8th with ETH so with Gareth almost definitely we'll be in a relegation scrap by the 4th gw onward.
2. The Glasers out movement reignites stronger than ever before.
3. Our stock just crumbles and is sold as pennies on the dollar.
4. Regular Joes are buying them in bulk with Sir Jim and INEOS upholding their agreement with the Glasers and buy them out by new years eve (talk about a Santa gift heh?).
5. SJR throws them out of our club before the ink dries out on the sale agreement, scraps the A&B shares bs, installs a 50%+1 majority vote fan ownership of the club and bows out with a hired plane doing rounds over Old Trafford with a banner that reads "Mission Accomplished".

I think Ten Hag will get another year to turn it around due to a lack of credible candidates. We need an inspirational manager that's tactically astute and in it for the long haul. We don't want the type of manager that starts well, then falls out with everyone and then leaves after two years. I'm not entirely convinced ETH is the right manager but I'd love him to prove me and many others wrong next season.

You don't have to convince me. From the first time I saw Southgate's name linked as manager, it was no way. I got the same rush of blood when they announced Moyes. You have to be kidding. So far not impressed with Ineos. Loads of talk. No way of doing most of it. Not in less than 20 years. Still mostly owned by Glazers. Nothing is likely to change. If they appoint Southgate it will be a joke. All these supposedly great sport brains would instantly loose any credibility. This current England squad is the best we have had in years. Given now that there aren't many English players in the English Premier league. Better system in 1966. And as you say won nothing. Playing for your country is totally different anyway. Many players at club level couldn't give a toss. Regular pay cheque. Turn out, sit on the bench, out injured. Same as a boring office job. But you might see that lift for country. Well you can hope. Slightly different scenario, his record at Cardiff was not great but results there were not all down to him. Subsequently he guided Molde to two league titles which at least was a full time position rather than the part time England job. More importantly Ole was hired by United as interim manager, and his performance in that capacity earned him the permanent manager role. Southgate will be walking in with a permanent contract with only the part-timer international credentials. Completely agree with Stephen's views, would be very worried if Southgate was in the running.

INEOS want the whole England setup, from the coaching staff to the medical department to the analytics team. Bringing Southgate is the easiest way to acheive that. Then if he fails, they can sack him after a year & retain the setup

There is no way this group of senior players will accept Southgate, I think the only guy they would accept is Rooney. Rooney is not ready yet and may never be. He came out the other day and said some of the players are faking injury, so not likely. Just stick with ETH, mind the medical department and bring in some fast tough young players, with the idea of bullying other teams in the league and the two cups, no Europe to play for.

I gave him a chance with england we did well making our first final since 66 only to piss it away with awful game management, then he proceeds to get us relegated from the nations league with some of the worst football i've ever seen, we've not been that much of a laughing stocking since taylor in 94
What about 10 proofs ETH can't manage Man Utd.. 82 goals shipped so far, onana, antony, malacia, mount, sancho, hojlund, lack of any football knowledge, lying, excuses, inept.
This season has been gash, but it really irks me when people say things like 'the manager has no football knowledge' as if they're some kind of scrub. If he had no football knowledge he wouldn't have changed his style of play last season to match the players. He hasn't done that this season, go and look at the youth teams, they're all playing the way he wants to play and they're winning stuff. If he stays or goes, I can understand either way, but let's not pretend he's just stumbled into the job and you could do better.
