Raphael Varane will leave Man United as free agent at the end of current season. Decision confirmed, as revealed in January. Varane will be available on the market as his contract won’t be extended. Raphael Varane to Man United fans: “I’ll see you all at Old Trafford to say goodbye for the last game at home this season. It’s going to be a very emotional day for me."

Saudi Pro League clubs are pushing to sign Casemiro when the transfer window opens next month. There is also huge interest from Saudi in Bruno Fernandes, although that deal is regarded as far less likely. Casemiro’s representatives have already held talks with Saudi Pro League clubs. Manchester United are prepared to sell and would like any deal agreed at the start of the window but will not push Casemiro out.

No farewell for De Gea but a farewell for Varane. That is shocking from the club.
The way the club handled De Gea was disgusting, but let's be glad Varane doesn't get screwed over the same way.
And let's hope De Gea is the last player that happens to.
Have new regime now hopefully not the last player to leave full clearout needed.
That's the reason we're having the worst season in almost 50 years.
All to do with the time of when the decision was made. United decided to not renew De Geas contract pretty late in the game after he'd played his last game which is why he didnt get a farewell. Whilst with Verane we decided earlier.
I don't think we were letting DDG go until after that FA cup final. That's the only way it makes sense. Besides the mistakes, I hear he blanked the Glazers in the post game medal ceremony. Not a smart thing to do to your employers when your contract is done!
Anyone that says he’s crap hasn’t watched him properly clearly. Whenever he was fit, especially with a run of games he always looked a class above our other players. The injury’s have been the problem not his ability

I am single in my late 30s so I have the time to comment jn YT while coming home from work. But the vast majority of us are for Rashford, like Varane; half-half in Maguire and ETH. No one likes Rasmus, Martial, and Lindelof.
Rashford is not the problem at all. It's silly to say so.
His quality is beyond question. Even half arsed he put everyone bar Evans and Martinez to shame that we've signed in the last 10 years at centre back. Injuries hampered him and that was the issue. Wouldn't have minded keeping him, but that would have been on severely reduced wages/pay as you play deal and I doubt he'd be up for that.
The problem isn't that he's a bad player, the problem is he was a terrible signing for Manchester United. He wasn't in full decline yet but he was nearing it, that's exactly why Real Madrid replaced him. We put him on a huge deal and signed him as the pillar of our defence. Not his fault at all but shows the terrible decision making at the club. We had no youth that he was supposed to mentor, and we weren't on the verge of winning the league where the van Persie type signing makes sense. Really put the cart before the horse with him

I’m sick of the mourning on Twitter from our Gen-Z fanbase, acting like we’ve lost Duncan Edwards, Bruce, or Stam. And talk of a great partnership with Lisandro, they played 32 games together 🤦♂️
Varane only played 67 times for us in total in the premier league out of a possible 114 fixtures over 3 years.
Top player in his day no doubt, but he needed to go. Every single CB needs to go, bar Lisandro.
Perr Schuurs from Torino is my ideal pick, him and Lisandro would gel so well. He’s just returning from an ACL tho, so dunno how he’s doing, but he is the guy. If you want a great CB pairing of old, the likes of Bruce & Pally, Rio & Vidic.. Perr Schuurs & Lisandro Martinez are the guys.

Plus Schuurs is miles better anyway, and very right sided, natural balance with Lisandro. The term “Rolls Royce” is so overused these days, but he is that, he’s silky as anything, and United have always had that, be it Duncan Edwards, Gary Pallister, Rio. Schuurs is in that mould, and he’s only 24, but an old head. Lisandro knows Schurrs from their Ajax days too, they played about 70 games together.
Rashford and Garnacho have the same number of goals this season in PL.
One is a 27 year old seasoned professional on £350k a year who contributes nothing defensively and constantly runs into dead alleys. The other is a 19 year old who works his socks off!
And yet apparently the 19 year old does not have football intelligence and the 27 year old “we are reluctant to sell”

Waste of money basically, busted flush on arrival and Madrid knew it. He was fininshed in the Champion's League game against Citeh at the Etihad and that was about 3-4 years ago...
Perr Schuurs (Torino) fits the mould perfectly to pair up with the Butcher 💪🏽… they played 70 games together at ajax so they're familiar with each other and such a silky defender. Should be come fairly cheap too.
My only concern is Martinez injury if it becomes a recurring one. But that's a problem for another day.
Rashford and Luckhurst can go together for 80 mill.
Varane was class for us, always very professional and he consistently played at a high level.
United buying players past their sell by date is nothing new. United buying players and making them look stupid is nothing new. Many years ago we bought a player called Gary Birtles from Forest, he was a potential superstar had won 2 European cups and scored goals for fun. He played with the ball to his feet running at defenders. We played him as a target man with the ball flying into his head hence no goal in first 25 games.
Garnacho hasn't played so well in the last two games doesn't mean that Mainoo and Amad are better than him. In those games also, the entire front 3 (if not the entire team played badly).I hate when people sit behind the microphone and display signs of selective amnesia.
Tune it down a bit with Mainoo because I have seen how several England born players faired over the years. So spare us the Mainoo stuff.
I'd take a fully injured Varane over a fully fit Maguire anyday, this is just devastating news only because the slab is still at our club

Very very good player. No injuries and he would have been an absolutely amazing signing. Shame he was made of glass as on his day he is world class.

Verane was 28 with many miles on his body & was already showing signs of it with a lot of injurys for Madrid before he was signed. Clubs like Real & Bayern dont let there legends go unless they know they are on the way down. And weve gotten done so mang times with this in the last 10 years. Schwienstiger, Verane, Casemiro
Not to mention the stupid free signings, Ronaldo, Cavani, Zlatan, Falcao. Hopefully those days are over
The reason Varane's leaving is because the offers are coming in for him. The players we moan about week in week out are probably still gonna be here, because not many teams will pay their wages... Varane's getting on and is frequently injured, yes, but still runs rings around Maguire, Lindelof, and Evans. Hopefully Martinez will be fully fit next season, But Varane leaving isn't great news. We had a solid defensive partnership last season, and we should replace him with a quality CB next season... Not just the cheapest or the most available option.
When i think of varane all i cant think of is how we should've gone for him10 years ago.
United did try to sign him at 18 and I seem to recall that he played a champions league game at Old Trafford for Lens around that time. It was already obvious he was different class.
He went to Real Madrid instead of United and I suspect he was left with a tinge of remembering that time and then ultimately signing for United.
Varane was just one of the many players we signed 5/6/7/8 years too late
i think the club might have a age cap on players we have and players we sign. just a thought as all the players leaving are declining. lets just wait and see how old the players are that we sign

Man United played thier best football under Ole. We went into big games with the hope that we could beat them.
I'd take Ole back over all the other managers Man United have been linked with. Ole over Potter, Southgate, Tuchel and the rest.
If you look at clips of Varanne at Real Madrid he had the best attributes of Kyle Walker combined with the best attributes of Wan Bissaka. Speed, tackles, tight progressive control.
Thing is we can't just "sell" players. We need to be realistic, we have a load of seriously overpaid players and underperforming players on our books. If we can sell (which is unlikely) we need to drop their price heavily. Even then the player probably won't move because of what would be a serious drop in wages. Newcastle have had loads of players they can't get rid of since they were taken over and they'd probably take nothing for a Hendrick or Hayden. Then there is the cost of replacing these players. It's going to take years of sensible investment to fix.
The Fa cup v dippers was a good show case of Garnacho. He was excellent. You just get a bit if inconsistency with youth. He will develop into a top player. I agree build with the youth and sign good young technical players.

Let's be real. Varane was a great player but a stupid signing. It's the epitome of a Manchester United signing these days. Either someone completely over hyped like Maguire, or someone entering the end of their prime or start of their decline. Zlatan, Cavani, Varane, Casemiro, Ronaldo. None were bought to plug a hole or with any succession plan in place, they were bought to go into the starting 11 as the main man. Who thought that's how we should be building the squad?

I think ETH is a great coach. This period reminds me of Dave Sexton era. He was a great coach. It’s just the players struggle with them because they are a bit cold personality wise. They aren’t the gregarious give players a hug type. They don’t have much of a sense of humour. Look we don’t want a comedian but the players have to warm to them a bit. At the end of a day it’s a professional job. Man management is really important though. I still think ETH can succeed. I want to see him given a go with the new regime.

I think we might be doing a Chelsea this summer. A complete cleaning of the decks and restock, which is going to take time to gel and it might be another difficult season, but long term we'll be in a better position.
When SJR bought Nice, first season they finished 5th, there was an overhaul of the squad, they were relying on loans like Saliba, Lopes and Todibo for quality.
Second season, they get some players in, it takes time to gel, they start poor and switch managers, finish 9th.
Third season, they buy a few players in key positions, they're 5th with a game in hand, challenging for top 4 still, they've got the best defensive record in the league. Now have a solid base to build on.
Amad has looked bright. Decision making and creates himself time and space on the ball, almost like Scholes.
He’s been a good CB but age, injuries have taken there toll. Football has changed since his Real Madrid and World Cup winning times and he realises that.
Fuzed has loads of possibilities for how you can customise your kit. You could really spice up that green and gold one. I made one for my team with sponsors logos and everything

I'd tend to agree about varane. I do think he was committed to United but largely for professionalism rather than passion. To be fair to him he's not a badge kisser, he's a serious operator. Having said that I think in a months time he won't be thinking much about United ever again. He'll probably end up with a coaching role or similar in Real Madrid, France or Lens and pin his life in Madrid or back home.

Sorry to say this but he wasn’t really anything special in a United shirt, too injury prone, and struggled with the pace of the premier league. His best years was definatly behind him when he joined and Madrid never really put up any kind of fight to keep him. United to stay clear from signings like this going forward.

On Managers I think United really need to identify what kind of football they want to play and pick the manager for that. If its true we mainly want a coach rather than a full on manager then I think its worth looking at the exciting coaches around europe such as Alonso, Amorim, Motta, Michel etc
Should have had him at least 5 years ago, but peak Real players don't come to Utd. Casemiro is another case in point. I genuinely hope that era is over. We should not be a retirement home for greats past the best.
Selling kovar and singing biyindir (sp) is a great example of how messed up football is now. Selling a youth prospect and signing his replacement for the same money because of an FFP accounting technicality is just sad.

Since Varane joined the club in 2021 he has been injured or ill and missed a number of games on 11 separate occasions. A lot but I was even more surprised to learn that Luke Shaw has been out injured on 24 separate occasions since he joined us from Southampton in 2014.
If only that were true. None of United’s form has been a tactical issue. Logic line that is why you made the statement you did.

I think saying he’s not assed about the clubs abit harsh tbh you can say he hasn’t been fit and had way to many injuries but in terms of work and effort, I think he’s been a solid defender for me he give more of a ass the Harry or Scott when on the pitch but this is just my opinion !

Martinez, Varane, Maguire, Lindelof, Evans. That's 5 CBs, that should be enough under normal circumstances. Shaw and Kambwala could play there under exceptional circumstances.
What happened to our defense this season is a complete anomaly.
Solskjaer was a good manager with entertaining football maybe us as fans need to look at ourselves for hounding these managers with general abuse as soon as any little thing goes wrong I swear every manager after 6 months looks broken it cant be great for their mental health
