- Manchester United are reportedly looking to sign a centre-back, a midfielder and a forward this summer, with other positions being prioritised based on outgoings in the squad. That leaves room for some serious players to join up with the squad, and god knows we need it after the season we’ve had. With Jason Wilcox coming in, along with some other big names in the backroom rankings, I think there’s an opportunity for us to get some intelligent deals done. Today, we’re going to put ourselves in Jason Wilcox’s shoes, and identify some of the names that could be brought in to the squad. As well as that, let’s take a look at the players that could make way. Who makes the cut?

Ste, Bella Kotchap has played 4 games this season, he's been injured the rest of the season. We can't be buying players like that with our injury record.
Was it one long term injury. Might just been bad luck.
@@g_od2080it was a re-occurring shoulder injury I believe
@@g_od2080 Couple of dislocated shoulders and a bad knee. Avoid.
I support you
@skullsnax u r right...
What about the CB from Fulham that's going for free he has played decent this season he could be a good backup
the way i want that guy. thought Wilcox was gone pounce on him since he was the head of academy when Tosin was in the city academy. looks like necastle will sign him tho
Would have been a good option but looks like newcastle are close to signing him now
Murillo of forest
Going to Chelsea
Yep. Also the left back Robinson
The most transformational signing will be Joao Neves. Not sure if he'll want to come to us but if we trigger his release clause and get him, we'll move up significantly. Him and Mainoo in a double pivot should be great and perhaps Amadou Onana for some physicality we may require in some games or late in games. Midfield wins you trophies. It's not a coincidence we won the most with Keane, Scholes, Carrick in midfield and little since then.
João Neves will be a top midfielder for the next 12-15 years, the intelligence that kid has is something, he has a spacial awareness, his positioning and endurance are very high. The only thing he lacks in my opinion is shooting capacity. About Antonio Silva he is another elite player, but this season he has been a bit lower than the previus one. We have seen otamendi missing some plays, and that might be putting pressure on Antonio. They will be expensive but they will have you set in that position for at least 10 years.
Antonio Silva is very good and I think he his a defender
Its the 100 mill price tag thats a stumbling block
Neves looks great imo and of all the possible places to spend big that will help united right away and in the future is at 6. All the top clubs have phenomenal 6s and with casemiro crashing we need a 6 so badly.
@@adamtwamley293 well everything has a price, the real question is how much is the board willing to pay to solve that problem? As a benfica supporter I prefer that Joao Neves stay at Benfica, as I would have preferred that Bernardo, Cancelo, Rúben Dias, Ederson and João Félix, but I'm not part of the board and I understand that every player has a price tag. As a football fan and as united watcher, I see there are a lot o issues with that team, so maybe Neves could help solve a few of them, but united need way more than only one player, in my opinion it needs about 6 or 7. So if the option is to buy only one top or all the others, I would buy all the others. With 100M you can solve some of the problems. But nerves might not be available next season or his price tag might be even higher...
@@HugoCorreiabzk I’m not disputing obvious talent or his price if enzo is a 100 million pound plus player then so is Neves. But Utd have a squad wide rot and we’ve done the huge signing i.e pogba, di mara, sanchez and lukaku they haven’t worked out id rather sign a couple of players with that money instead of blowing it all on one player also we have to be within FFP which given the horrendous financial handling of the club in previous years will be a factor in the window
According to the media following last nights game, we can expect upwards of 200M for Sancho.
At least.
they are comparing him to Messi now... just WOW.... 200m is too less for the next MESSI... 🤣
Psg should buy him then Rashford would be happy to go as well
The irony of United fans talking about the media overhyping players when Garnacho and Hojlund get the most PR and hype while underperforming and literally struggling against championship teams.
@@Pengboycarti You again!!!!. You must have a Sancho poster on the wall, or maybe a Sancho blow up doll. Player FC will be the death of football.
My perfect window for this summer. IN- (Defence) Frimpong, Todibo, Branthwaite, Tosin, Miguel Gutierez - (Midfield) Hjulmund, Wirtz, Rabiot - (Attack) Olise, Sesko, Nico Williams. OUT- (Defence) AWB, Lindeloff, Maguire - (Midfield) Eriksson, Casemiro, McTominay - (Attack) Rashford, Sancho, Greenwood, Antony.
Just fyi as he is probably gonna be talked about a lot in the future.
Sesko is pronounced Sheshko and he is not Slovakian but Slovenian✌️
As a Slovakian I wish he was playin for us 😂
Nobody cares
About Slovenia just another country that shouldn’t exist
@@willgimenez5188 you must be a riot at parties
@@adamtwamley293 never been to one
Something so underrated that we currently can't really do is, have a squad where we can rest our top guys and play a cup tie 11. Actually have 2 pairings of Central defenders and even fullbacks would be huge. Excited for the future and hopefully it can be a start to bringing United back into the fold.
Sancho had a great game but a single performance isn't enough to change ones position on a player's long term future.
As an example, Many fans thought Amrabat was the best thing since sliced bread largely based on one performance.
No, the club are the problem- too many players are damaged after United
@@dobianuli2742 Too many players are the wrong choice, for a variety of reasons, when they get here in the first place. Don't let your football players manage your bank account, don't let bankers decide on your football squad.
@@dobianuli2742 Sancho didn't have the hunger, discipline and work rate to make it in the Prem. Huge oversight by the people who signed him.
@@alexfielding7191 but he is the hunger and desire to do well in the champions league?? He wasn’t as bad as people made out, his stats were decent. Man Utd is a graveyard for all big signings except for zlatan and Bruno they’ve all flopped
@@dobianuli2742 In a one off game against PSG. Do you know who also did that? Tuanzebe, he's now at Ipswich
I am a Sporting fan and watch the Portuguese league every weekend, and being a Benfica rival I have to admit that Joao Neves is already a top player, it's like he has duracell batteries in him, he doesn't stop running, as for Silva don't believe he is as good as people make him out to be, Inacio for me is better
I want Cardona, Medina, Lacriox, Fort, Fofana, Rabiot, Bakayoko and Strand Larsen in this summer
I'm not sure about german league players.
Eric Dier looks like Franco Baresi in the Bundesliga.
It helps playing for Bayern
It’s a far inferior league. Suits Sancho.
He looks like that in the CL as well to be fair. He is just playing well. De Bruyne, Gündogan, Haaland and so on are all from the BL as well.
haaland, gvardiol, akanji & kdb bought from german league
sure kdb was played for chelsea before
but his campaign at chelsea rather awful, dont u think?
and now, they are at the strongest city side
the list goes on and on
there are a lot of bad signings from german league, but also happened with transfer from PL teams right?
We need hungry young players. We need people who give it all everyday.
That’s a given. But you also need proper men, proper old skool men, that don’t take any s**t, that call out flakiness, that won’t tolerate moaning, whinging, downing tools, that won’t tolerate childishness, that won’t tolerate social media mentality, that won’t tolerate “woe-is-us” attitudes.
@@thesmithsnerd yeah like Roy. I think we need a mixture. However the Young ones should not be egos out of control.
This is the most articulated I've heard Howson, only note, find synonyms for 'echelon'. Your content is what I hear for lunch and after the grass. Thank you for the consistency
Why are we not even thinking about a Mainoo and Dan Gore partnership.
Gore needs to be guven opportunities too. Boy has the energy and abilities to carve a name for himself
It’s one thing identifying talent for Southampton, or even Man City, but United are a different beast, it’s the qualities you can’t measure in stat form, it’s more about personality and character over talent. And I don’t think it’s gonna be as easy to identify the correct types of players as some people think.
It's both obviously. Otherwise you'd just go to league two and recruit good professionals from there because they're cheap.
@@mundolioknows6447 I said it’s MORE about personality and character over talent, I didn’t say it’s ALL about character & personality with a minimal level of talent. Of course you need talent, well done Cap’n Obvious.
Waffle, utter waffle. This mythos around Utd needs to stop. Why have certain characteristics as a club, but talent is talent.
@@MrGts92 what “mythos”? About having working class workrate? About never downing tools? About never sulking around the pitch? Around never being pampered prima donnas that are too precious to put a shift in. Guess you never seen Bryan Robson eh? Or Pete, or Brucey, or Pally, or Sparky, or Eric, or Keane, or even a young 17/18yr old Giggsy, Becks, Lee Sharpe, running themselves into the ground, never complaining, never coming with the “woe-is-me” attitude. I guess you really don’t know this club.
@@thesmithsnerd"it's more about personality and character OVER talent"
You nailed it with “culture shift”. What a breath of fresh air that could be.
Great show . Great knowledge of players. Keep up the good work.
Really like the look of Joao Neves. 17:03 My concern is Licha, Mainoo and Neves as 3 in centre of the pitch is quite small and we might suffer a bit on set pieces
I'm sure Rashy would tear it up for PSG. It would be great to see him have a fresh start.
If Ten hag goes, I still think Sancho could have a spot as a starting left winger. Garnacho would be a great second option for when we want to go more direct, but Sancho's passing & crossing would get more chances for Hojlund.
Ste a suggestion, could you do a Top Free Signings again in a few weeks? I think United'll do well to have a couple of free transfers every season, Eriksen, Evans have been immense to us in their respective signing seasons
Ndidi and welbeck would be good frees to bulk out the squad a bit. Premier league proven players with experience
Is Barkley thrown into this conversation? Hes been good in a poor luton team, can pass, can ball carry..maybe a more mobile version of Erriksen?
@@StuartSmith-kb5pf Will Welbs be free next season?
@@ameyagokhale5123 I believe so. I'm sure I saw it somewhere
I’ve only recently been following Man U but I’ve noticed that no matter how great Anthony does Man U pundits seem to entirely ignore his performances from Newport onwards.
It's not "Man U" mate. Never. Ever.
You're always doing something lol non stop action man!
I thought we should’ve gone for Bella-Kotchep when SoHo got relegated. Would love us to bring him in, and the Wilcox links are something I hadn’t realized
Reading some articles it does seem like they're willing to keep ten Hag on because of how poorly everything was run above him. It does seem fair but also what's the point of getting a new manager in while they're overhauling everything. That would basically be an interim manager because things won't be sorted 100% by the start of next season and there aren't many stand out candidates so it seems smart as well. Start of 2025 season when the entire hierarchy is in place and structures have been fixed it makes sense to really decide the manager
Really hope we go for Joao Neves this summer. Absolute baller
The chances of Dortmund stumping up 75m for Sancho are zero. I would expect 35m - 40m as best. INEOS might decide he suits their possession based style of play.
Rashford leaving would be a positive, and he can be replaced by Garnacho.
I rated Bella Kotchap with Southampton in the PL. Tosin from Fulham on a free is a no brainer. I totally agree with you on Branthwaite.
You would need truckloads of cash to get Neves and Silva from Benfica. I don’t see Neves and Mainoo being physical enough as a duo.
Sesko would be very exciting, all round play is superb.
I went see at defender like Todiybo, Martinez, Antony silva, frmpong Dalot , Luke Shaw , Malacia ,
Mild field like Neves , Onana ,Mount , Buruno ,
And attacker Rash , Garna, Rasmus, Ivan tony , Olise and Antony
What are you on bud? Why the heck would Dortmund pay £75,000,000 for a player who they know we want to sell, who wants to leave and most importantly they cannot afford as far as wages? He's on about treble the wages of their highest earner. Saying sell him for £75million is ludicrous.
Exactly. Whether hes worth it or not is a completely different conversation. Unfortunately United have no leverage on any major sales at the moment.
Definitely a clap back at Dortmund’s ‘you owe him an apology’ post! 😂
Sell him to PSG then we dont care we just take money from the mazimum bidder. He was shit for us
Pray that PSG goes after him. With any luck ,perhaps Bayern might entertain signing him!
@@rickyreward226look bro tell me man utd ain't shit, this head in the air looking down on the rest by the average man utd fan is really embarrassing, we're trash bro, Sancho would be mint for '99 Man utd squad, how bout dat! how many of this present bunch barring mainoo would?
I agree Ste, I would absolutely break the bank for Neves
One of the bad things about Roony is that he is out for 8-12 months with an injury he sustained a couple of days ago
Yes to Sesko (wanted him last summer) and Neves. Like you say, Neves and Mainoo is a seriously quality midfield that’ll have us sorted for the next decade. What an unpressable partnership that would be.
Midfield of neves and Mainoo would be unbeatable
Ste, can you do an analysis on Dimarco from inter? Guy is a baller imo and has that passion this united side lacks. No links to him but I would be gassed to see him in red
Silva & Martinez man ❤
AWB is a great player to have in the squad. Purely defensively there isn’t many better than him. Great option to have as a back up to Dalot who is an attacking full back option.
The problem will be selling the players we have. But your descriptions of these players are spot on. I think Utd could get you on the scouting team🤣.lets hope we do have a big change cos we desperately need it
Love the collar
Slovenian Ste! Don't do us like that 😂
I kinda agree with you on Branthwaite. Not really seeing the hype, especially for the price tag being quoted.
Loved the video couldnt agree more. Neves is to me the most important player that will immediately improve this team and the only one i would break the bank for. All the top teams spend huge for top notch 6s look at the top 3 in our league alone. How much is rodri worth? Rice was 110mil plus and Liverpool was going to pay 100mil plus for caicedo but instead spent money on mcallister endo and gravenberch who have all played at 6 but again over 100mil worth of players.
Joao Neves is a must, Silva for a double swoop would be great but agree we’ll have to pay through the roof for just them two
Neves is a must for United , fast strong and tooop quality player
But a bit small for a double pivot with Mainoo and Lisandro behind them.
Jason Wilcox!? People are getting excited about Jason Wilcox as DoF!? We really have finally hit rock bottom.
We should actually try to keep Evans around for another year. As face and personality from the Ferguson era to teach the kids. Even if he barely plays.
Would be an outstanding window if we could pull that off. Wouldn't mind getting Angelo Stiller from Stuttgart if we couldn't get neves
Sell Sancho for big money, he’s playing good in Germany
Right, he is not fit for epl.
I don't think we will get more than £45 million for him.
Sellhim 75m to PSG. They need to refreshen their squard after mbape leaves and sancho and rashford would be great for them
Id like to see silva/todibo, youssuf fofanna, nico williams, and we need a left back. Not sure about price of sesko. Especially fot a back up. Hard to keep both happy as well
Sesko, Neves & Silva!!! Just go all out for these 3 if nothing else
Neves looks class. I’d love him at Utd
75m for Sancho? I think that's mighty optimistic.
Centre Back - Tosin Adarabioyo & Jean-Clair Todibo
Left Back - Leif Davis
Defensive Midfielder - Mats Wieffer
Winger - Nico Williams
Striker - Joshua Zirkzee
mats weiffer is pretty good
nico williams is not who you think he is. 4 goals in the league all season in la liga of all places, getting outscored by greenwood who hadn't played in 2 years for a far worse team.
@@doa1377 he’s gonna be a lot cheaper than neves. We can’t do these big money signings anymore without selling players. Like people are gonna say why leif Davis he’s plays in the championship and last season league 1. But what has shaw and Malacia done nothing this season cause there injured. Leif Davis has literally played every match
Looks pretty terrible to be honest.
@@A_n_y_t_i_m_e so you rather keep Antony

Version of Ruben Dias
Mark do we have a budget for Antonio Silva and Joao Neves?
Can you put some player names on the pics? Can't make out the player names from just hearing them. Would be good to see how it's spelled.
Ste is loving his life with that defender. He can't get out of it. 😂
Jesus thats alot of players in & out for 1 window
I already agree Ste, Branthwaite isn’t good enough to come in and command a regular first team spot. Maybe as a backup, while he’s still learning his trade, but that’s an expensive backup! So avoid for me!
Steve are any of the players we have out on loan ready for the first team squad next season. I was wandering what you think of Will Fish
We need to decide out and out what sort of team we’re wanting to be, I’d happily be a counter attack-esc side, but our weakness then which always shows is a team that low blocks.. so we want to keep the ball more, then we really need to listen to offers for rashford. This isn’t the hate band wagon, but for the next season or so there should be only say 6-10 games (cups included) we should be playing counter style football. So that leaves minimum 40 games in a season where we want to control the game, and sadly 300+k a week is just crazy for basically planning to use him successfully for 20% of the games,
We get hyped during summer for new players we make obscene expectations then when the player is out of form s little we butcher them
like your thinking thinking
An 18 and a 19 year old as our base of midfield and you’re surely asking for trouble, especially if you’re selling your two experienced midfielders in Casemiro and Eriksen
Hey Stu what about Antony, Malacia, Onana, VD Beek, Amrabat, Evans, McTominay????
Roomy bhardji timing couldn’t be worse. ACL injury today out for 6 months. Then again, wouldn’t be unlike us to sign an injured player
Can do a video on Sevilla number 15
Antonio Silva would be an incredible signing
Don't know why anyone is thinking of keeping varane/replacing him with a todibo or alternative, replacing maguire with a left footer, and then sell lindelof for something and getting tosin from Fulham as a 4th and evans(or older)/kambwala as 5th/6th and that could be quite cheap
Hey Steve my grandad was a saint Nazaire commando on the Campbeltown
I seldom comment but this analysis is excellently done. Cheers mate.
Do we have any buy back clause in Mengi?
Always thought it was moronic to let him leave
Agree with Sancho, if they won't pay it, irs not utd that will suffer, it's Sancho, bin him im the reserves and let him rot unless we get the money we want, he can push Dortmund to spend it. However signing a massive risk off the back of a half decent game against us is ridiculous, you not remember the Dan James transfer, signed cus he had half a good game against city. Personally think the players coming in should prioritize personality and mindset over talent, that can come once we've got a set up worth supporting
I’ve heard it all before, and I won’t believe a word of it again until I see it myself
I love the shouts but we also need to find a balance of youth and leadership. We clearly lack leadership as much as I love Bruno. Neves/Silva/Roony sound great but we don't want to become Chelsea.
No way we get £75mil for Sancho !. Forty,& I’d snatch your hand off for that !
I would love to see bastoni from Inter at United, perfect profile of player for premier league + inter have money troubles so will need to sell at least 1 key player this summer
N barella
Really don’t know why no one’s mentioning Di Marco from Inter. Been immense the past 2 seasons and definitely a better option that Shaw who’s always injured
Swedish talent Roony Bardghji has torn his ACL, injury confirmed by Copenhagen.
The winger on the shortlist of several clubs for the future will be out for the next 6 months.
It baffles me how you can watch United for so long and mention these players - completely unrealistic, not even imaginable

Love your work Ste but lots of wrong info in here.
Wilcox had nothing to do with the Bella-Kotchap deal (he was signed by Southampton a year before Wilcox started), Sesko is Slovenian not Slovakian and its Roony Bardghji not Roony Bardagli.
What about promotions from the academy to fill 3rd choice positions?
I think all these news are a threat to the performance of our current players before the season closes.
Free agent for Martial replacement: Ilhenacho. He will be a good backup to Greenwood if he is around. He will overtake Rasmus within a season if Rasmus stays and Greenwood goes.
There's still a possibility that Jadon Sancho will apologise to Ten Hag and be reintegrated into the Manchester United team.
Neves but I doubt we'll sign him love it if we did though!
Got a feeling we will just be stuck with some of these guys until contracts run down. Key is to minimize mistakes in new player recruitment and contracts. It’s a big summer - but maybe not in the way we’ve considered transfers before.
Been saying it for ages, Marcus + Luke Shaw is a potent force - look at last season, with no Luke Shaw - look at this season.
Plus Ole's 2 full seasons. Virtually every attack went through them.
Low block stoke city style isn't good enough for man utd.thats all rashford thrives in .he needs to go
@@neilthornton3544 we've never played Stoke city style football. We played mostly counter attacking football under Ole. We still play the same type of football now only without the defensive element.

Bardaghi just tore his acl. Will be out for 9 months sadly
Bella Kotchap was been injured with weird injuries the whole time. Hasn't looked good at PSV for a second.
An actual left back. Leif Davis and Alphie Doughty will be available for peanuts. An athletic CM needed too. Allan Varela and Mats Weiffer tick all boxes

The point is the club needs a reset and signing prime players right now probably isn't the move. someone coming in in their prime either wants cash or doesn't have enough ambition to win because realistically we're not competing next season and possibly the season after with the squad we have. Most of our targets would be 24 or younger right now, maybe a few experienced players but we're highly unlikely to pluck the best players in their prime at the moment

Either way we'll only realistically compete in 2-3 years by which time Hojlund and a lot of our targets would be around 24-25

Silva and Neves are very unlikely given Utd aren't going to be spending much over £50m on any individual player. Todibo is currently the most likely CB signing.
Unless Varane stays we need 2 serious CBs not one serious CB and a cheap one. You can’t get an injury to Martinez or for example Silva and then expect Bella Kotchap or Maguire/Lindelof to come in and do a job. We’ve done that the last 2 years and it’s been a disaster.
