I am not the sort of person who uses "thank you" or "I'm sorry" in those exact phrases unless I say so sincerely.
Being forced to say it out of politeness a good chunk out of my childhood actually made me a very capable liar and deceiver to the point persuaded people I was doing something even though I am not while making sure I don't cover up and just act on a low profile.
In essence, I made a mask of myself for "please and thank you". No one to pour my heart out in times my thoughts are troubled, and approach with caution and discipline out of respect.

Like if i'm in public and help a kid with something and then their parents prompt "what do you say?"
that "thank you" wasn't earned, it was forced.
and if everyone is trained to say it, whether they're actually grateful or not, as a knee-jerk reaction, how can u ever know if it's real.
personally i know i piss some people off when i say a monotone "cool" or "alright" or "ok" when someone does something unnecessary for me in an attempt to help. I also say different levels of "thanks" or "thank you" or "i appreciate it" when i mean it, but i'm sure that largely goes unnoticed

I love how manbo-p always turns the song into a story, it becomes more meaningful and interesting.
I think it's funny how Manbo-P chose Miku for this song because Miku's name is 39 and 39 in Japanese is san-kyu and sankyu in Japanese means thank you therefore Miku's name is discriminatory! Great song btw owo
Hmm I think ミク is actually meant to represent an uncommon reading of 未来 since her Chinese name is 初音未来. But I supposed the pun still applies.

I wouldn't say I like the English subtitles because the original Japanese lyrics are much more careful and kind. What Naru says in this song is close to the following phrase.
"It is okay to hate 'thank you.' You don't need to accept what you don't like. but I wish we can decide what is 'wrong' together, with everyone."
Naru is trying her/his best to understand Mito cautiously. That's why I like this song.
I think there was probably a reason why Mito would never like 'thank you.' Maybe someone pretended to thank Mito in passive-aggressive manner, or someone forced Mito to say 'thank you' even in a situation that she/he never could appreciate.
However, I always thank those who make subtitles for good videos. Thank you for allowing more people to enjoy beautiful songs.
I think Mito has a trauma that makes them reject anything that would split people in two different groups. That's why they got triggered with "I'm sorry"

On one hand, they're both gender ambiguous, so it is both gay and straight simultaneously. But on the other hand they're also metaphors, so they can only really bump abstract concepts, if you catch my drift

Ngl, the message of this song didn't really resonate with me until I started using Twitter. It really hits hard and is an important message I think doesn't get expressed enough and many people need to hear. "It's your choice what to hate, but it is not up to you to decide what is wrong." Everyone has their own strong beliefs and sense of what is justice, and that is 100% okay, but "right" and "wrong" are more complicated than that and no one's mindset is absolute truth or should be enforced as such.
Also the character designs are cute and I ship them
Did we watch the same video? That's not what the video was about it was about people who only say sorry or thank you not out of kindness but out of a reaction response and the other character is sick of it, there is a thread in this comment section about that line you quoted being a mistranslation due to the translator being bad at their job and even then the whole incorrect quote was basically saying that one person shouldnt decide what is right and wrong but instead everyone should decide not just a single group.
Also, that makes no sense, there are literal nazis on Twitter by your own logic they aren't bad people and if you believe that then you have more problems than just Twitter my friend.
