      Can't agree more. I work for a top 10 house builder and the poor construction of these homes is frightening. I have always, when asked, advised anyone not to buy new unless you like problem solving and have deep pockets. The UK house building is a con, cheaply built homes with enormous price tags because the local council has let the house builders build in prime locations maximizing profit . A complete scam.

      @arghjayem 15 днів тому

      I think everyone is looking back on the New Labour government with rose tinted glasses. Sure in comparison to the last 14 years, the Labour years were great. But Labour started privatisation in the NHS through the use of PFIs (private finance initiatives) to build 100 new hospitals making what should have cost 12.7 billion cost the taxpayer over 80 billion and we won’t actually own the hospitals once they’re paid off! They also sold off more social housing than Thatcher’s government did and failed to build enough to replace what was sold.
      The U.K. is in a shit storm, largely than’s to the 14 years of Tories and austerity. But the damage goes deeper than that to the last 40 of neoliberal economics beginning with Thatcher and continued by Blair whom Thatcher called her “greatest achievement”.

I seriously doubt the EU would be 'let's forget the past and let them be as before'. Most of the 'ordinary' people have had it with England, they would rather see the UK fall apart. Basically Scotland, Ireland, NI and maybe Wales, becoming part of the EU. Though Wales might become a problem with their influx of 'English' expats. 😂

      @@Paul_Cthe EU have indicated they would like the UK and NI to join if we can get our politics together. I’m guessing Labour will be aligning through the next parliament, and building towards a referendum manifesto promise in the following parliament. It’s not in Europes strategic interest to be disunited in the world today. The world is moving to super blocs. It won’t be on the same terms, but that’s probably best to knock down some British Exceptionalism ideals. I would not rule out a Trump presidency, or more conflict with Russia accelerating this.
      From your comment, you don’t seem to realise that several key members of the EU are basically moving right, and further right than we have experienced under the Tories. The position of these far right parties in the EU elections in Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium are in similar positions to where we were with UKIP in 2014. The EU is changing. Solar Panels and Heat Pumps?
      The technology for both still have a very long way to go.
      Battery technology needs to be improved dramatically for Solar Panels to be a practical solution for most people.
      With regard to Heat Pumps?
      Simply view the countless videos on-line produced by Heating installation engineers to discover what a shit-show that is in countries with climates like the UK.
      Technology may solve all these problems in time.

    Local authorities have been run into the ground for some right wing public schoolboy project called austerity... central government support for local government over the last dozen years went down by 58%. Obviously this impacts on what local government can do massively, this has impacted net zero policies but, more disturbingly, even with local governments ring fencing essential health spending if you plot life expectancy of local authorities since 2010-12 and look at the subsequent reduction in local authority spending power the shorter the life expectancy in 2010-12 the steeper the reduction in local authority spending power over the next decade, it's as if the government said the sicker the community the more money we will take from them.

Net zero is easy for useful idiots living off the tailcoats of others in London but in the real world of industry it's a disaster that will do nothing to change the weather.

    Dealt with passive hause it is an air tight system that relies on modelling and nominal calculations air source and ground source pumps are expensive to buy install and run if you leave windows open you lose the heat and it takes days you build up it doesn’t respond as quickly as conventional heating systems mostly runs underfloor heating as for the air tight system the filters and re hashing of air keeps bugs in and doesn’t help those with respiratory problems I suggest you take a look at skill builder site and ask plumbers and heating engineers what they think of it there are no banning orders on wood burners in Europe yeah the Germans told us diesel was cleaner than petrol
