Ms Rivers never fully got the flowers she deserved. Ms Rivers, along with the likes of Mr Carlin,should have been awarded the Mark Twain Prize, Kennedy Center Honors , and much more. Ms Rivers is a true LEGEND, she brought us so much joy and laughter for over 50 years and blessed us with her wit, charm and beauty.
Neither of them got honors and awards like that because they challenged the status quo. The music industry did the same thing to David Bowie, and continue to do it to Madonna. Anyone that tells major institutions to go fuck themselves, or points out how they need to change, is dismissed by awards committees.

If she went after Madonna, a woman who can actually write and produce music and play instruments, then Cher’s glorified drag queen ass was obviously on the table.
I’m a fan of Cher myself (favourite singer ever!) and ironically Cher’s mother lived for longer than Joan did and is still alive today, go Georgia! Joan Rivers had that kind of humour that was offensive on purpose, a bit similar to Tom Gleeson who I do find entertaining with his quick wit.
Joan was good friends with cher . Cher used to get upset if Joan didn't include her in her act.
