It was so delicious and super cheap! Colombian street food might now be one of our new favorite cuisines and we invite you to join us as we learn what to eat in Colombia!

    Have you ever heard of the tradition of eating hot chocolate with cheese in it?? We hadn't.. and I don't know if we would try it again haha. But one of our favorite things to do when we travel is to always try some of the local street food - especially when it's this cheap! Now we want to know, what's the best street food YOU'VE ever had??

    Lo ideal es tomarse el chocolate y de ultimo comer el queso. Tengo que decir que no siempre tomamos el chocolate asi, por lo general va sin queso.

    We love a free/tip based tour, the best way to get used to a new city. You guys had so much food for your money. We’re loving all the Colonial buildings in this part of the world. Your meal between lunch and dinner was the craziest! Dropping cheese in hot chocolate 🤪🤣

    • @RuthandThomas
      @RuthandThomas  2 роки тому +1

      Seriously! Who on Earth thought of dropping their cheese in their chocolate? And we thought it might be kind of tasty - like a chocolate cheesecake or something - but not really .. hahaha it just tasted like we accidentally dropped mozzarella in our hot chocolate 😆

    Nice video. Never, never put the rice inside the Ajiaco.

    We weren't expecting capybara to be on the menu!
    We love chocolate, and we love cheese, but we've never thought of putting the two together. We're intrigued...

      Right?? Yeah, the capybara was definitely something we were unprepared for but it was actually pretty darn good! At least it didn't still look like a capybara or else I don't know if we would have been able to eat it..

    Hot chocolate with cheeese!!!😂💜 well, I do love both. I did not except you to drop it in 🤣
    I’ll definitely give this a try when we go one day 😂 great video y’all!! Hope you are well 💜💜

      Haha it's worth trying, but I can't say as we'll do it again anytime soon hahaha It wasn't bad, but it just seemed bizarre and both the cheese and chocolate are better by themselves hahaha

    this looked so fun! I’m curious what you were doing between stops - just walking around Bogotá?

    • @RuthandThomas
      @RuthandThomas  Рік тому +1

      Yes! Everything was within walking distance of each other, so we would walk to a place, sit for half an hour and eat, and then walk to the next place. We were with a group of like 10 other people and we all walked place to place together. We stayed mostly in the La Candelaria district which is like the historic downtown area!

    Great job finding all the tours! Empanadas are my FAVORITE. So jealous. It does look like Panamanian Empanadas are more similar to Costa Rica, though. They are more of like a pot pie crust with varying things inside. Grilled corn! Yummy! Not sure what to think of your description, though. Interesting! Food tours while pregnant would be heavenly! The soup sounds awesome. Hot chocolate with cheese. I am going to have to try it. Very interesting. I mean, that's two of my favorite things...but together? I'm not a coffee drinker, but still neat to see. Enjoyed your video! Hope you are enjoying being home.

      The empanadas were incredible!! I definitely started to crave vegetables towards the end of our South America trip, but now that I'm home I would pay good money for some more fried doughy goodness! And yeah, we were trying the give the corn a fair shake, but looking back it really wasn't good haha. So dry and chewy and not very flavorful. Thanks so much for watching our videos!! We've been enjoying editing them while being back in the states and getting to relive our travels!

    Yea food tour!!! The corn sounds like what corn in Korea tastes like (and the texture)... The ajiaco looked the yummiest and the capybara sounds the most interesting... I thought the capybara was going to be something else, but just called capybara...but nope...it was capybara... I like how Thomas said it's sadly really tasty😆. I guess it's like eating a rabbit? Thanks for the food tour guys and hope all is well with everyone's health!

      Ayyyy.. How's it going! It's been a crazy few months for us, but we're now trying to get back into the swing of editing and putting out videos again. Everything is great with our health! It was pretty nuts tho, we bought a fixer upper home back in Springfield, IL and have been working on that every evening for the past month and a half (except for a week when we had some rough Covid and had a baby). But all 3 of us are now healthy and eating, pooping, and sleeping as we should!
