Ever been in a room where people are having a conversation about you and act like they're not ? And your not allowed to defend yourself? Or a real individual with a little integrity or decency ask you " what happened to you ?" ..... I do not gossip about others . I have learned to empathize with people going through things .... I built a strong wall up against love . I appreciate all the tools you gave me to do it . From my tower I look around what a world we have without trust respect and understanding . That's why I say everything is diluted
Party Griffin never ceases to amaze me. One of the true singer/ genuine songwriters of today. Such ernest and powerful words well blended with her passionate and haunting voice. Love this song, and I love her!
I don't believe in love like that anyway I would have told you that if you'd have asked me The kind that comes along once and saves everything Between a woman and a man But I'd have died trying anyway I might have told you that if you'd have asked me I'd have died trying - tried everything Until the day refused to return I should have seen it from one hundred miles away I should have beaten the odds of it any day But I never could keep all the wolves at bay Snarling and growling It was an exercise in catastrophe It was a dance of destruction It was the daze of futility It was the flight of fragile wings Ambulance drivers and gravediggers Mislaid fortunes grown bigger and bigger Polar ice caps below and above Conquered and claimed and ruined for love As we glide along all the bends of time Falling for little tricks of the mind With memories of Eden now so far behind And the taste of melting snow I don't believe in love like that anyway The kind that comes along once and just saves the day I think of it more like the rocks the waves chip away As they become the sand And I'd have told you that if you'd have asked me We might have saved ourselves the disappointment I might have told you that if you'd ever asked me And the day did not return.
i 've been disappointed in this cd, got to use to greatness from her...i think this cut explains everything if you listen....deep blues,..can stick like glue, when you get older,..but when love reclaims you,..it's all the sweeter when you find your spirit is made for finer things after all
She is a treasure. This is one of the most heartbreakingly gorgeous songs ever written.
She never fails to completely wreck you emotionally.
Patty is one of the most profound songwriters of all time. These lyrics hit so hard, so true. She sure has a friendly way of ripping a heart out...
the lyrics are amazing, but her delivery empowers them by a thousand fold. poet + musician = genius
Now we know what angels sound like. Thank you Lord for giving us this soul to cleanse our own.

amazing song. so rich, so profound, and as alway . .. truth.
The woman is a genius with words and her music is felt deep in the soul. I can't praise her enough for her work! It's amazing!
I could listen to this song every day, and often do. Amazing.
Love this one! One of my favorites from all of her songs.

Goosebumps and tears...
I don't believe in love like that anyway
I would have told you that if you'd have asked me
The kind that comes along once and saves everything
Between a woman and a man
But I'd have died trying anyway
I might have told you that if you'd have asked me
I'd have died trying - tried everything
Until the day refused to return
I should have seen it from one hundred miles away
I should have beaten the odds of it any day
But I never could keep all the wolves at bay
Snarling and growling
It was an exercise in catastrophe
It was a dance of destruction
It was the daze of futility
It was the flight of fragile wings
Ambulance drivers and gravediggers
Mislaid fortunes grown bigger and bigger
Polar ice caps below and above
Conquered and claimed and ruined for love
As we glide along all the bends of time
Falling for little tricks of the mind
With memories of Eden now so far behind
And the taste of melting snow
I don't believe in love like that anyway
The kind that comes along once and just saves the day
I think of it more like the rocks the waves chip away
As they become the sand
And I'd have told you that if you'd have asked me
We might have saved ourselves the disappointment
I might have told you that if you'd ever asked me
And the day did not return.
damn, you are a masterpiece! thank you!
damn! this is just too much! wow!
8.Still so appropriate. :-(
Her words speak of her heartache over breaking up with Robert Plant
think this was her cleansing of rp...
They never do ask....
Some of us learn to ask. Maybe because I feel safe to do so. Sorry for the ones I didn't ask.
"They" aren't a group. There are only individuals. "He" didn't ask and "she" didn't tell him.
It was an exercise in catastrophe...
