- The fourth Thor movie continues the MCU’s Phase Four trend of being terrible.

Amazing video. I was a huge fan of Taikas earlier work but there is just too much ego here and disregard for the previous storyline of the MCU. A bit disappointing as it was a big opportunity missed on this film. Keep doing your thing, unfiltered honesty!!!
Totally agree. He went way too far. Both he and Hemsworth too
Yessss. I am glad to finally find people who agree with me on this
Thank you Erik, I’m a fan of your channel! Talk about motivation to keep on keeping on with mine. 🙏
Fr I love Taikas early work, boy is a fantastic film. It’s a shame to see him go so downhill. You can tell all the fame has gotten to his head and given him a massive ego
Aren’t all marvel movies pretty much expected to suck and follow the same cookie cutter plot devices that’s seen in literally every marvel movie?
The funniest part of this movie was when the credits rolled in, and the kid in front of me said; "that movie sucked"
I felt that
You supported Disney by giving them your money to see it in the theater? Idiot. 😡
This movie really sucked. I just dot get who they actually made it for, my 8-year old also hated it....
It's too immature and tedious for adults (at least those that are pass their cringey humor phase) but also too inappropriate for audiences that enjoy the vibe/humor of the movie (cue parents having to explain what orgy is to their children)
kinda fkd up
Bless that kid
Did anyone remember Korg talking about his mom in Ragnarök and then mysteriously having two dads in love and thunder ? Lol
I thought I was the only one who noticed that lol!
Mom and her boyfriend right 🤔
My dad caught that too. They're so desperate to insert gross woke bullshit that they contradict their own movies that came out only a few years ago.
Fuck it
They became trans
Ong they want gay representation so bad they forget what they made before them.
In all of the critical reviews I've heard regarding this movie, why have I not heard one person mention how utterly pathetic the "Zeus Lightning Bolt Weapon" looks?! It is by far the most ridiculous thing in the movie. It looks like somebody from props forgot to make the Bolt, so ran out to Target right before they filmed the scenes with it. It's completely stupid.
The entire cg is crappy , so many times it’s looks like Chris Hemsworths head pasted onto a cartoon body
@@AestheticsKartel ong that naked scene was weird af and the CGI was ass.
That bolt looked like a prop from those sixties' movies!
@@Aqu1ls_Curr3nt well mcu sexualizes men a lot 🥱🤔

When my wife and I went to see this movie, a thunder storm knocked out power in the theater with about 45 minutes left to go. At that point, I was already speechless as to what I had witnessed. The theater gave us double free passes and free popcorn vouchers and said we could still stay and watch it from the begining, as the power slowly returned. I don't think anyone did. It was two weeks before my curiosity got the better of me and we returned to see the end. Even with a new attitude towards the film, it still didn't work for me. Truly, a major disappointment! Mostly, I think I was embarrassed for the actors.
Same thing happened to me while watching Wakanda Forever.. it was indeed a sign
Maybe the real Thor and Zeus were so upset that they toguether made the movie to stop? XD
How ironic that situation sounds regarding the thunder causing a power failure for the movie you were watching involving Thor 😆
exactly my thoughts. Seeing Thor (Chris Hemsworth's acting) in Infinity War and Avengers, hell even the Ragnarok, was so both uplifting and painfully heartfelt and there was sorrow in him losing mother, father, brother, almost all his people. He was a GOD for crying out loud! He had that might and power, that eternal vibe about him that showed that he is not from Earth and 1000 years old being. But with this garbage (as well as Endgame)..they completely ruined him and made a freaking comedic relieve (what the heck was that even in What If). argh. It's just so disappointing what they have done with the character that I've loved for a decade. I don't even want to watch the rest of the phase 4.
@@SuperHeedictator To be fair, Hemsworth is a really good comedic actor, it's just that he's trapped in an action hero/Comic book God body. The only actor to survive T:LaT with their dignity intact, was Christian Bale, as you might expect. Russel Crowe, Portman, Hemsworth, and a half-dozen other Hollywood "names"? Not so much.
Gorr 100% deserved to be in a MUCH Darker and much more serious movie He was easily the best part of this movie.
Agree, but MCU can't go that dark
@@farrel_ra Why not? They claim to be "family friendly" but, really watch these movies. They're ALL killing mfers. As opposed to DC and alot of the heroes having a "non kill" policy, Marvel heroes kill a bunch of people and then go out for pancakes lol. Also, Scarlet Witch becoming a homicidal maniac definitely was in the dark side
@@johnstrika9170 Fucking yes! They go to recruit the gods and try to save them and be justice and be the good guys, two seconds later thor and co are massacring zeus guards like chicken and don't give a shit. Like what the fuck
Can't be the last time we see him.
I only watched for Christian Bale.
I've heard this movie perfectly summed up in two ways.
1) This movie is like watching a magician do the same magic trick twice in a row.
2) Christian Bale and Chris Hemsworth are acting in two completely different movies.
its Awsome❤️🥰
@@theodoret4556 🤣🤣🤣
Number 2 sums it up well.
2: sums it up really well, Really well acted serious character mixed in the same movie with haha funni naked god man
I'd be a horrible magician, Cuz i'd fuck a trick up.
The “Disney” Effect is really taking its toll
My theatre went crazy at that scene, the applause and cheers when he lit up and slammed stormbreaker gave me goosebumps. Those days of Impactful scenes in the MCU are long gone.
I know these movies have children as their target audience, but 'super hero needs the help of children to fight' must be one of the worst tropes in super hero movies. I've talked to children and teens about that scene, and their answers ranged from 'lame' to 'retarded'.
it is clearly Garbage, just the idea of female thor.
Don’t they realize that the majority of their audience has grown up or is almost grown up?
@@slamdunker77 I feel like Disney was interfering a lot
‘Children as their target audience’ is right. Like a pantomime. 😂
Looks to me like a movie with subliminal messaging aimed at a young audience.
Watch it again with this in mind.
‘Strong women - weak men’ ‘Fat is fun’ ‘Gay scenes’ ‘Dying parent’ (loneliness - the loss of love)…
My nephews thought Thor 4 was absolutely terrible. I was embarrassed I took them.
Just that one clip of Infinity War makes me miss how badass Thor used to be. And still should be. How sad
this ^^
Thor love and thunder sucked… the new movie Elvis was better
Even in endgame when he was fat was still such a badass more than when he was just plain asssss in love and thunder
@@krtlkid hell yeah. When he did that little thunder clap before confronting Thanos, it was way more badass than anything he did in love and thunder
@@bobc2032 yeah its so sad that after all that,he reverts back to being an ass like how he was in the first film.
Oh my god, I love your review 😂 One of the things that pissed me off though about the movie is the fact that Thor has now become like the laughing stock. The women always treat him like he's an annoying little brother who's stupider than they are.
The thing is.... It's HIS movie.
It's very annoying when I like a character and then in their own movie, they're emasculated or treaded upon very disrespectfully. It would have been the same thing if it were a female character like Wonder woman, and then other female characters or male characters came in and all of a sudden Wonder woman is acting like a freaking idiot.
I don't understand why they feel the need to do that; they feel the need to nerf a male's character to make the female characters feel more strong.
It doesn't make them look more strong. It actually makes it look as though the only way that women can be perceived as strong is if everybody else around them is really stupid, which honestly is a really huge insult to us females.
I saw your She-Hulk review a couple months ago and you were shredding the show for this exact reason. Gosh darnit do I appreciate you and your takes!
@@TheMovieCynic you too 😂 You're way more entertaining
Two Thors, a Gorr, and a Korg sounds like NBC's newest sitcom.
“This movie doesn’t give a shit…”
Absolutely nailed it
Taika was too busy clowning around behind the camera and then shagging Rita Ora and Tessa Thompson around the corner.
It really feels like Hemsworth called up the director and said hey should we get to work on this movie. The director was like nah we'll do it in a long weekend, and let the graphics people do the rest.
It's sad... Jane was never worthy. Thor basically made her worthy by telling Mjolnir to "protect" her. :(
Well... we don't know if Jane was (or could have been) worthy because all that part from the comics was cut out for the film. They needed that extra space for screaming goats.
@@testfire3000 they also needed space for the cringe jokes
@@testfire3000 not just cut from the comics, but also from the first Thor movie
Another freaking turd in the disaster that was this mess
She was worthy at the end.
The saddest part of it is that the very few scenes they took seriously were actually really good, and most scenes could have been like that but they choose to ruin it trying to be funny instead. Jane’s death scene was a very emotional and well written scene, so was the scene where they got back together. The opening scene was pretty good too when they decided to take it seriously. And both post credit scenes were really good too. But other scenes they decided to try to make it funny when it has the potential to be good. Like when Thor’s enchanting the weapons instead of making it a serious moment where it could show Thor being a leader and inspiring some scared kids and showing how powerful he’s truly become by enchanting the weapons they decided to make a joke out of him stumbling over his words and not sounding like he knows what he’s doing and having a kid decide to use a stuffed animal to fight off some shadow monsters. And the biggest issue is most of their jokes are just terrible and overused. Repeating the same jokes over and over again is not funny (specifically Stormbreaker being jealous and those stupid freaking goats constantly screaming)
Screaming goats meet The Rule of Three. Any repeating joke is funniest when it is only repeated no more than three times. This has been an known writing principle since the days of ancient Greece.
@@testfire3000 My roommate kept laughing like a complete dumbass whenever the goats screamed, and I genuinely don’t know why. He was so damn pleased the whole time he had me watch this at home, and I just kept leaving the room.
Honestly, this trash was my MCU breaking point. I’ve heard so many good things about Wakanda Forever, and I can’t even bring myself to sit down and watch it.
That the inheriting Thor was stupid even back when they did it in the comics. The hammer didn't make him thor, he is thor.
I'm 22 but nothing made me feel more like a boomer than watching this film straight-faced while everyone around me was laughing up a storm
🤣 noooo! My entire theater was basically silent the entire movie.
Oh wow I'm also 22 and it was almost the same experience of being nearly dead panned straight faced.
@@TheMovieCynic same my cinema was silent and no lie a few people were asleep that when you truly know it's bad. ☹️
I Almost fell asleep 😴
Eep 😬
The biggest problem I had was that the characters weren’t taking the threat seriously. If they are cracking jokes after children are literally ripped from their beds in the middle of the night, how am I supposed to buy that Gorr is a legitimate threat? Even more laughable is Thor getting angry that Zeus isn’t taking him seriously when THOR ISNT TAKING HIM SERIOUSLY.
Compare that to Top Gun Maverick, which makes a big deal of showing you just how difficult the mission is going to be so that you take it seriously. Top Gun Maverick is a goddamn masterclass of filmmaking compared to shit like this. How dare they waste Christian Bale’s time like this.
Yeah I feel BAD for Bale. 😩💔 What a mess. I think we all know he deserved better. WTF were they thinking?? I guess he wanted to do more... but the studio either said no from the get-go, or cut some stuff out cuz it was "too dark".
I guess there was a part where he screamed out in pain - probably when his daughter died - but they wouldn't allow that version. This is a KIDS MOVIE apparently guys. 🤮🤦🏻♀️
Glad to see I wasn't the only one driving comparisons between this movie and Top Gun Maverick. Both highly anticipated movies backed by big studios, yet one I saw twice in theaters and the other one I'm recommending my friends not to go to. Sad.
I mean they’re like gods idk I feel like being god like being you wouldn’t show too much fear.
Bale made a load a cash and was the only memorable part of this movie. I think he’s doing just fine.
CHRISTIAN should’ve BAILED on this film!!
Something that really gets me is why Mjolnir is back. In the comics it makes sense, since it wasn’t destroyed. It doesn’t work here for many reasons. For one, Thor already learned he didn’t need it. He thought his strength came from Mjolnir and without it he wasn’t a proper warrior. Ragnarok taught him he was strong enough on his own. Endgame taught him he was still worthy of the Hammer, even though he thought he failed and was at his lowest point. So why is it suddenly he’s acting like he wants the hammer back so badly when he already moved on? Why is he “checking” to see if he can lift it when he knows he can? It’s just complete nonsense.
Cos they needed a weapon for their newest overpowered woke character with no explanation for their abilities
Or maybe it's emotionally attached to it... Like it was bluntly explained in Ragnarok...
The REAL problem is that Stanley left his lifetime work and passion for storytelling in the hands of greedy people and a greedy company.
I've realised that Thor may have dropped the Shakespearean speech from the first movie but his character arc was learning modesty and now due to comedy, he's right back to being inconsiderate, vain and rude.
Taika's ego was out of control on this movie.
Espeically after Ragnarok, felt like there was no development to him in this movie
@@Stevepoku Because there wasn't.
@@nexusshark He actually regressed, when you look at Endgame. Sure, at the beginning of Endgame, Thor is a mess. But then he goes to Asgard, faces his failures (having lost Asgard, his mother dying, etc) and actually evolves quite a bit after that moment with his mother. We only see bits of it because the plot had to keep going and there was the fight and all, but when it came to fighting Thanos and all, Thor was again "his old self", like, focused and determined and part of the team. Sure, at the end he had some silly jokes with the Guardians, but he also was level-headed enough to give leadership of "New Asgard" to someone else, someone he felt was more capable than him. So it proved some maturity and evolution. And then that movie comes out and he's a weird hobo cracking jokes and thinking only about himself now??
When I heard about Waititi's tweet saying “I’ll ruin your mythos in a minute, baby.” I honestly said to myself; " Oh man, this movie is gonna suck." It just said to me that he doesn't care about making a movie that fans would love. I wasn't wrong.
Omg me too dude
That gave me the same vibe of Ryan Johnson saying "Your Snoke Theories Suck"
I remember dreading watching ragnarok because he kept tslking about how he wanted to reboot Thor because he didn't care for what came before. And it showed.
For all that people complain about the lack of seriousness in love and thunder, I'm still pissed that Hela taking over Asgard was riddled with silly jokes that undermined her threat and Asgard exploding was immediately followed by fucking korg msking a joke. I seriously hate that character and what Taika did to Thor, but seeing how much people praised eagnarok I'm not surprised he decided to go even further with the irreverence
He is doing to marvel what joss whedon did to justice league.
I hate that guy 🤌
You have screaming goats. You have serious villain. You have Jane that is Thor for just one movie. You have Thor, who is now there only to make fun off. Truly inspiring movie.
Was really hoping the guardians were gonna be part of the journey. Then the space boies would have a small funny realization moment that the increasingly "nonstop" godly threats (that Thor usually goes up against carefree cause hes a god) is a bit above their pay grade, but are now stuck in this Godbutcher case with Thor till the end.
my thoughts. The whole debacle with Jane was just unnecessary in my opinion. They just brought her in, gave her powers that let's be real, the hell she was even given for, she kicked ass, saved Thor's ass (yep, him being 1000 year warrior with mad battle experience, pff what are you talking about, here's Jane that can do better without even trying) and then kicked the bucket. This film disappoints on so many levels
It’s sad that Thor will never be a character the fans could ever take seriously, and he will always be a joke. RDJ leaving was smart, I’m sure he knew they would have eventually ruined his Ironman.
Or force him to pass the torch to better replacement in long boring series. Downey and Evans dodge this beautifully, others were not so lucky and don't tell me, for example Tom Hiddleston, they aren't suffering.
@@ilfirinms great point, kind of sad, like Wanda, then “killed” her off in Dr. Strange.

My favorite point you made is how the WRITING is shitty. Everyone gives credit to directors and producers, but the SCREENWRITERS make the movie bad, good, great, or legendary. Great writing can save subpar directing, but great directing can't save shitty writing. The writers of the MCU are not telling great stories anymore
100% agreement. I hope Kevin Feige reads this and accepts that we are not haters. I liked almost every Infinity Saga film with a handful of exceptions. I have no problem saying that Endgame is a masterpiece. But the quality of phase 4 is....just...bad. It's like comparing the 1st 4 seasons of Game of Thrones with the final season where the characters could no longer even speak articulate dialogue anymore. Tyrion went from being the *biggest* intellect on the show, to an idiot dwarf who keeps telling over compensating cock jokes. That's what it's like watching MCU die.
taika waitititard
Waititi is equally to blame. The director holds a lot of sway and you can tell his influence is all over the script, hence all of the dog shit "jokes"
Sam Raimi's directing of MoM is what really holds up the movie
@@Arrica101 He also wrote the script and directed it, so yes, he deserves pretty much all the blame lol

For me Gorr teasing/spooking the kids in the cage with the beheading gag was the best part in the movie. I really wanted this villain to have more to him as I loved Bale's delivery.
Gorr the pied piper
Gorr the alien psycho
100% agreed. I saw that scene and was like. THIS. this should have been the movie. Bale could have been on par with some of the best sinister, scary, scene chewing villains. Instead we hear everything he’s doing in the background. I chuckled my way through the movie and slowly laughed less and less. Then when I realized we were at the end of the movie my heart broke cause I couldn’t believe what they were doing. Such a waste and such a shame
Before you said Bale, I didn’t know who you were talking about😂
honestly i was cut between if it was him having gone completely nuts and thinking he was being humorous or if he knew what he was doing. Gorr could've been far more compelling, but I liked his interactions with the kids - seeing as his motivation stemmed from his kid and all, it would be interesting to, i don't know, have a conflicted villain?
I also think that they need to stop having villains be corrupt because of some magic object. They're probably too lazy to write a good motivation these days.
Thanos was pinnacle of MCU. He's gone now, so is the ingenuity of MCU
They even turned tobeys villains into that when tobeys movies made clear that even though the serum, claws, venom tempted them they all still had a choice.
The writers are moral realists; they believe contrary to all reason that moral facts exist, so they can't conceive of how people could disagree with their own arbitrary moral sentiments without the influence of psychological pathology or literal magic.
@@ismt101 they nerfed thanos when he went against wanda
@@thecensoredmuscle563 Honestly I find it that way a little better than if they chose from free will because realistic wise ppl irl do get corrupted without it being a choice such as indoctrination, propaganda or simply being raised that way. Also with Green Goblin he has DID so he literally cannot choose because his alter ego shuts him out kind of like the movie Split where Kevin cannot decide his choices so as long as he's shut out from his other personalities.
I never physically cringed during a marvel movie but that scene with the kids had me squirming in my seat
Your description about your expectations about Thor4 are exactly what I felt. Thor 3 had me excited for Thor 4. Then the rest of phase 4 happened and then I had low expectations. I saw reviews about it and everyone I've watched said it sucked. I waited till it was on Disney + to watch it so I wouldn't spend any extra money on it.
Ditto. After the first week in theaters it suffered a huge drop in ticket sales. I don't think it was the biggest one week drop for the MCU but it might have been (and I don't' feel like looking it up, hahaha). I watching it also on Disney+. I can waste a couple hours but not a couple tickets.
Gorr literally looks like a horror movie villain, yet the film makes him a animated kids movie villain. They really wasted making him into a devastating force and made him a villain who has a lower kill count then a character from a Pixar film.
The “Disney” effect
You can’t spoil the film because it has no impact whatsoever in MCU 😂
It’s still hard to think that back in 2020-early 2021 (before Black Widow), we had no such thing as a “bad” MCU movie
@11:18 tht Forrest Gump insert had me dying 🤣🤣🤣 "the cancer & died on Tuesday" lmao
I was so confused on why Gorr would just immediately kidnap a bunch of children from their beds at night AFTER he just lost his daughter who was the same age as those kids. He more than anyone should know how it feels to lose your child and he took the children from all the parents in New Asgard. It just seemed so forced to me and just an excuse for the writers to convince us that Gorr is the bad guy when he actually does have a point and a reason to hate the gods. Also, if Gorr feels that all gods are selfish and narcissistic, then why would he kidnap children as bait thinking that Thor would care? If he *really* thought gods were nothing but selfish, why would he think that they would risk their lives to save some random kids?
Maybe Gorr wanted others to feel his pain? Sometimes villains make sure that nobody else feel the same pain and sometimes they do because of anger and sadness idk 🤷♂️
Gorr believed all gods are selfish, hypocritical creatures who put their own image above the needs of the people beneath them. Kidnapping Children is a Typical Villain Thing, that would be stopped by a Typical Hero, something Gorr believes Thor Believes himself to be. if Odinson doesn't rescue the children, he proves Gorr correct, as he betrays his self image to save his skin. If Odinson does rescue the children, then he proves Gorr wrong, but still manages to provide Stormbringer to him.
Kratos would like to speak to Gorr...
You're underestimating the stupidity of people. It doesn't feel forced at all because people do similarly hypocritical irrational things for revenge all the time in real life.
Your wasting your time even asking that question, they most likely wrote that in the script because they needed a way to have the characters meet up at the end
Unfortunately, Waititi doesn’t feel like the kind of guy that will listen to the feedback, he just does what he wants and only listens to himself
But he did a great job with Ragnarok tho I'm glad I didn't watch this movie I'm gonna wait until it stream on Disney plus

I thing a big problem is that Thor is not great as a lead character but as an ensemble character. He needs contrast to other characters like Loki, Hulk, Avengers, etc. to perform well. It definitely would have been fun to have him stay with the Guardians longer.
Gorr in the comic was so dark so disturbing. Great story. But damn man, they did him bad.
I couldn’t agree more, I’m tired of the Thor character being portrayed as a bumbling idiot like every dad character in an 80’s sitcom. Thor is supposed to be a badass not a punchline.
Enough with the slapstick, it’s gotten old.
Unfortunatelly Thor became a joke.... just like Hulk ! MCU is falling apart.....
I don't mind him being "bumbling". He's strong as shit and he's not from Earth. I liked when Starlord tells Thor you made that word up, and Thor says, "all words are made up". That's that ancient wisdom, genius... They kind of do the same thing with Captain Rogers in Avengers, "It seems to work on some form of electricity" lol. You got have the smart guys, the "dumb" guys, the funny guys, and play on those characters strengths and weaknesses to make it work. You were spot on about the best version of Thor being the one in Infinity War. His arrival at Wakanda is my favorite scene as well - not only is it totally badass, it felt earnt, given all the shit Thor had gone through up to that point (i.e. actual character development). Thor in the sequel felt like they took a giant dump over this for cheap laughs. This was not only continued in Love & Thunder, but they actually dialed it up even further...the characters was a joke, the lore was a joke, everything's a joke now. It honestly felt like watching one of those washed out sitcoms that used to be good at one stage, but has now run it course. Where each scene is just a vehicle to cram in as many jokes as they can, but hardly any of the jokes land, and the whole thing ends up being neither funny nor entertaining. The only thing missing was a laugh track.
It's for people who think 'Friends' is the high mark of all all comedy. When everything has to be undercut with a snarky, sarcastic and 'witty' line..Like their sense of humour never developed past being 14.
Thor hate & thunder
Basically the office seasons 8 & 9 besides the last two episodes but I digress
Thor had no development to that point in Infinity war. He lost a fight to thanos. Loki died. He was sad. Made a weapon. Appeared in wakanda to fight thanos again. There was no actual character development. He was sad. being sad in and of itself is not a development. He was the same character from beginning to end.
Ngl I think endgame Thor was the best a broken man out only for blood if only they did the same with hulk
What's really sad is there was potential here to do a cool Thor/Guardians movie but instead we got 2 minutes of them together and that wasmit. Hemsworth and Pratt have very good chemistry together and they wasted it.

I see a trend with directors like Taika and Rian Johnson where they're incapable of directing/writing a scene that's emotionally charged and just letting it sit with the audience. They feel a need to "subvert expectations" with a "gotcha" moment that undermines the emotional gravity of a situation.
Agree with this completely. They’re quite alike in that way, to the audiences detriment
Yes exactly! I hope disney doesnt fuck over marvel like it did with star wars
Same with the guy who directs GotG. If the only way you can find to get a payoff out of a scene is to cap it off with a laugh, all you're saying as a director is that you don't know how to craft scenes. Killing the drama/suspense of a scene with a joke is fine, if done sparingly. And can even be great when done right. But if it's done in damn near every scene, it becomes a problem. Why should the audience care about any of the stakes presented in the movie when the filmmakers don't.
@@J-Hue I would say that James Gunn, despite his often juvenile humor, is actually more of mature director than Taika and Rian because he's actually able to let emotionally charged scenes sit and settle. Like in GoTG 2 when *SPOILER* Yondu dies and Peter is desperately trying to save him...that scene hit hard. Because Gunn let it breath without (if I remember correctly) undermining it with a cheap joke. And Yondu's death was then mourned and his life celebrated by all the other characters in the film in a show of respect.
Yep
Couldn't Thor just call back the stormbreaker at the end after losing it?
...guess he didn't... think of it
plot armor bro 🤣🤣🤣
Some things about Gorr and the powers
1 Gorr was indeed worthy in comics and was able lift Thor's hammer.
2. Gorr took the necrosword from Knull while Knull was fighting a gold celestial or god
3. The only character who was able to break the necrosword is actually God of Light Venom, he broke the sword and knulls armor with light power and Thor's hammer with silver surfers board metal
3. Gorr maybe a god killer but he isn't someone who gets pleasure by scaring someone, he's a villain who is filled with rage and hatred just like kratos.
4. Gorr actually fought three variants of Thor and three of them looses to him.
Thanks!
biggest question going in - When did they become actual gods?
In the comics there are pantheons of deities, but in the first Thor movie and reinforced multiple times in others, they aren't real gods. They are powerful, long-lived people with a few unexplained abilities, and highly advanced technology.
@@cthulhucrews6602 Well Odin was an old man and a fool so.
The question you should ask is,? in the MCU, what is an actual god?
"God" is an arbitrary term. At most it could be said to mean "really powerful compared to an arbitrary baseline, generally humans".
Yeah, the MCU does flip back and forth on the meaning of this word. In Moon Knight, it seems a god is really a god.
@@testfire3000 or those gods in Moonknight could be just aliens from a different dimension.
It just didn’t make sense to me why they put a villain like Gorr in a movie filled with jokes and rainbows and joy. It’s like if you were to put Freddy Krueger in a SpongeBob movie. He’s supposed to be super serious and a huge threat but no let’s laugh it up even characters die!!
This movie should've been PG16 at best. The Gorr storyline is too dark and intricate to have all this humor and fast pacing. You're better off finding a more funny Thor story if you're going the comedy route. Shit the movie failed miserably at the comedy so probably wouldn't make sense anyway.
@@AmbitiousMuscle Christian Bale apparently told reporters that more scenes of Gorr were cut because they were too scary.

10:00 😆 😆 💀 💀 Bro this shit is too funny. I would watch a whole dub of the movie if it was like this.
It was.... strange. Some parts of the film felt great, but others felt like it was just a movie to make fun of Thor, and make Portmans character as great a fighter as a 2 thousand year old warrior God because she can swing a hammer now. Felt incredibly all over the place, zero consistency, and overall very weird storytelling that doesn't really add up.
Having a fair amount of humor in a superhero movie is necessary, but recently, Marvel has taken this way too far!
The batman worked w/out comedy and is better than most marvel movies. Marvel has cranked up the comedy way too much tho, I agree
No, no it's not necessary. The Batman and The Dark Knight were great. No humor was involved.
@@tumultoustortellini but the batman did have comedy, look at the penguin, he was mostly comic relief. Difference being that they knew how much and what kind of comedy they should do.

This movie is really the nail in the coffin for me. I was already disappointed with the multiverse of madness and all those shows but this one sealed the deal. Now, I have completely lost interest in MCU. I want more movies like Top Gun Maverick now. That one was really great to watch in theatre.
Top Gun being so good has set a high bar for future blockbusters, that’s for sure.
Superhero movies can be made till the end of time and I wouldn’t get fatigued if they were actually good. I’ve seen The Batman 11 times already, 6 times in theaters, because I was buzzing about it so much that I took personally everyone I knew that was missing out on it to go see it in the theater. That’s the kind of power these IPs have if treated with the respect they deserve. These creators see these properties as money only, and not a creative storytelling endeavor anymore.
Same here brother. I was mad that I saw strange 2 because of Sami. Hated it. So I didn't see Thor. Now if I don't hear word of mouth reviews I won't see it.

That line is just as bad as "its morbin time"

Can we talk about how in the finale of the movie, a bunch of kids defeated a bunch of monsters. Kinda made Gorr's powers look weak.
Exactly…… wasn’t he more powerful, in the comics?!???
Lmao I couldn’t believe it. Especially since Valkyrie, Thor and Jane couldn’t beat him themselves.
Thor passed on the his enchantment to the children, pay attention instead of hating drone lol

Thor 4: Not Another Marvel Movie
I and all the other Loki fangirls are thinking right now, "Yeah, it's not so funny when it's *your* favorite character who's being nerfed and deconstructed, is it?"
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love this comment
My favorite character is gorr the God butcher and they ruined him
The only reason Loki was deconstructed is because the fangirls keep demanding more.
@@levischorpioen No, it was because Taika Waititi's self-image is of a Trickster-Hero archetype, and his ego couldn't take threat of a fictional character who did it better than he could.
Why does loki have fangirls?
Thor used to be my favourite MCU character, but now… now, just don’t me started on what they have done to him. It’s just a shame, a real shame
I always thought Jane was a waste of time. She didn't even have chemistry with Thor. These movies should've been about Thor and his stepbrother Loki, since Hiddleston and Hemsworth always had the best on-screen chemistry and a bittersweet love/hate bromance.
But no the moment they killed off Loki in the Thanos saga I knew the upcoming Thor movies were doomed.

The biggest tragedy is in what this COULD have been, if they adapted Gorr faithfully from the comics. (And also, giving him more than 30 minutes of screentime)
* more than like 8 minutes of screentime
personally I think that the MCU have been using a chatGPT alpha version to do their writing
Christian Bale absolutely slayed the scenes he played in (in a good way). I enjoyed his acting more than the whole rest of the movie. I also loved the very first scene and the moment where Gorr reunites with his daughter. So emotional and nuanced. If only the rest of the movie had maintained that quality. I am absolutely not saying that it shouldn’t have had any funny moments (it’s Marvel after all) but more nuanced scenes and better (placed) humor would‘ve done it a huge favor imho
The movie seemed overall too lighthearted and comedic for me to believe that Gorr was a serious threat to New Asgard and the Gods.

The one excuse for Gor I can think of is that he initially began his quest as one for vengeance, he saw gods universally as his foes, and only ever thought to destroy them, over time he just kept sinking deeper and deeper into that mindset, and began to see every problem as a nail, one that could only be dealt with by the hammer.
Here’s what i would have done if i wrote the script.
1. Thor is traveling the universe with the guardians helping the planets who are in chaos because of thanos’ actions. Until he happens to come across lady sith’s body along with a dead god on one planet.
2. Make Gorr so OP that the more gods he kills the stronger he and the necrosword gets. When he finds out about omnipotent city that becomes his goal since that’s where all the gods went to hide from him.
3. Have jane and thor reconcile their failed relationship by giving them some actually screen time alone to add emotional weight to it. Like give thor a spotlight where he regrets his decision to leave jane.
4. After he and thor duke it out Gorr realizes that Stormbreaker can be a way to reach omnipotent city. He goes to new Asgard, subdues thor, uses the necrosword to replicate stormbreaker’s ability to summon the byfrost, and corrupts valkyrie.
5. After finding out thor plans to face Gorr alone, jane persuades Thor to let her help. They go to Eitri and he reforges Mjolnir then thor grants Jane the power to lift it.
6. Gorr finally reaches Omnipotent city, he and Zeus have an epic fight, thor arrives with jane and they battle gorr. Jane is able to break Gorr’s hold in Valkyrie. Thor defeats Gorr and the necrosword goes dormant.
7. Thor and jane spend their final moments together, watching the sunset (because using Mjolnir drained jane so much) and jane dies in thor’s arms. Thor buries her along with Mjolnir in new Asgard. Valkyrie tries to step down as king but thor shares a touchy memory of how odin regrets his failure regarding the valkyries’ deaths and she agrees to still be king. Thor then leaves and reunites with the guardians to continue helping other planets.
8. Zeus handing over the Necrosword to a celestial and then they reveal Knull.
Top 5 things that would've put this movie over the top for me:
1. The initial battle between Thor and company against Gorr should've involved Thor's arm getting chopped off. This would've not only demonstrated the massive threat that Gorr is, but would've given Thor an opportunity to obtain the Destroyer arm like he did in the comics. Instead it's Valkyrie who got injured, but she was only dealt a recoverable wound.
2. After visiting Omnipotence, Thor should've realized that many if not all of the gods are "unworthy." In fact, a major theme of the whole movie (which exists in the source material) is the "worthiness" of the gods. This would've also added to the explanation of why Jane is able to wield Mjolnir - because she became "worthy" out of her great need to fight her cancer (among other reasons). Instead we got a "it just happened" explanation.
3. Building off (2), in the final battle with Gorr, Thor could've confessed his own past unworthiness as the God of Thunder, and could've gained respect from Gorr by telling him that Zeus and mostly all the other gods at Omnipotence were also unworthy. This would've made Thor's appeal to "choose love" much more powerful. Gorr could've then used his wish to bring his daughter back and then ride off into the sunset with her.
4. Building off (3), after Gorr made his wish, the Necrosword could've departed from his hand (sensing that he was no longer "worthy" to wield its power). Rationale: with a lost Necrosword floating around the MCU, this would easily set up Thor 5... which at this point needs to be the Rune King Thor storyline for the character to regain credibility (short version: Thor goes on a quest to gain the same power Odin had). Instead we got Jane sacrificing herself to destroy the Necrosword, which should've also ended Mjolnir's run as well.
5. The whole Eternity thing should've looped in Kang the Conqueror somehow in order to tie-in Loki. In fact, Eternity even looks like a facade of Kang, because the whole "grant a wish" mechanism sounds suspiciously like the same "I'll restore/change any timeline you want" deal that was offered to the two Loki's. If only for a moment Thor saw Loki in the Eternity space, this could even motivate him to seek out magical runes to rescue him.
I agree in all of this
Ahh fuck. You make me even more disappointed in marvel. These are some fantastic ideas.
If only marvel had writers half as good as you.

These are the two things that i got from this movie:
1) i feel like they were trying too hard to make this a comedy movie instead of just making it what its supposed to be- a great and epic marvel movie. Throughout the film they kept throwing in these extreme cringe jokes that had no need to be added.
2) speaking of cringe, that scene where thor gave the little kids god like powers was the nail in the coffin for me. I could barley glance at the screen after that.
This was absolutely horrible. And i feel bad cause chris hemsworth is a great actor but sheesh they really blew this one.
Remember when Jane has cancer and is going through chemo, but still has a head full of hair because reasons? I kept expecting her to reveal she was wearing a wig the whole time and in the 3rd act embraced her condition and we were going to see a bald Jane fighting side by side with Thor. But apparently Natalie Portperson has to keep those flowing locks because shampoo deals yo
I couldn’t even watch Thor desperately trying to convince Stormbreaker not to be jealous of Mjolnir.
That power up girl with the stuff toys should be funny but all i have is cringe
And Thor couldn’t even be the hero at the end of the movie. Female Thor beat the villain and sacrificed her self for him.
It really hit me the other day while I was watching this movie that if this movie didn't have the marvel seal of approval it would've been criticized unanimously. Dude. Usually I wouldn’t agree with you, but this film was something else. The story was so rushed, cringey, and just bad overall. I personally felt like Janes cancer story was great. It was rushed, but it was good. The film also has some sweet moments, such as Thor taking care of Gorr’a daughter, the moments between Jane and Thor, and some more. But it was way too rushed. The CGI was terrible, and too many jokes. Gorr was an incredible villain played by an incredible actor, but the story didn’t allow him to reach his full potential. Marvel has to start doing better.
The cancer story was so good because the scene of Gorr telling Jane that her god will not help her cancer and she'll die was absolutely heavy. They had a great idea, but the details were based around jokes. They forced a horror, deep tragedy around a comedy.
@@GreaterGewd I know right? The idea of cancer that Gorr and Jane both have in common was an incredible comparison. Super disappointed to see such a dark and sad story be covered by unnecessary humor.
The humor missed almost universally. The first half of the film was just awful. The action had no weight, especially that first battle. Just... Wow that was cheesy. I felt embarrassed for the film when I was in the theater, and that doesn't happen often.
Gorr and Jane's storyline is overshadowed by heavy constant jokes every line of every scene. When they went to the city that, was the perfect time to introduce Beta Ray Bill to standup and unite with Thor, because he Odin helped him a long time ago
