The New MCU Sucks

  • Phase Four of the MCU has been a misfire. I’ve identified what made Phases 1 through 3 so special, and it doesn’t look good for the next few years of MCU films and television. The issue? There was no one to take Robert Downey Jr aka Tony Stark/Iron Man as the lead character of the MCU.

Doctor Strange was the only possible choice for a new lead. Sure, his character fits the role with his charisma and what not. With Infinity War building so much onto his character. But more importantly, Benedict Cucumber-patch is the only actor skilled enough to take on the full weight of the MCU in my opinion.
It amazes me how shortsighted they are... How do they not understand the damage they are doing to their own franchise? They're just ffing morons.

Not only should Strange be the new lead, but also have Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Ant-Man play as co-leads/major support heroes; similar to Captain America, Thor, and Hulk. Have the next phase be focused on those characters, along with the Guardians of the Galaxy, and AFTER they do that can they introduce new characters (With the quality writers and directors to boost them up. Probably doesn't need to be said, but I felt like saying it).

It also makes sense to have Strange be the new lead since this phase has seemed pretty focused on this whole 'multiverse' direction. He's the perfect character all things considered.
The biggest problem with the current phase in my opinion (aside, but connected to the lack of any real leading character) is the fact that it seems Marvels projects are made completely and entirely independent of each other. Aside from a two second cameo/ad at the end of a movie/show. Feels like each movie/TV show has its own independent story/mechanics going on, and work against each other instead of with each other with each new release.
I swear the rules of the 'multiverse' have been switched countless times since Endgame.

This are literally my thoughts....sadly MCU is hell bent on making Dr strange a clown since his debut...so far only his first movie treated him like an actual character otherwise they just use him as a background character used to kick off plot and then disposed in worst way possible ....even in infinity war he was just there to kick off plot of avengers spitting and set up endgame ....and for that they just made him lose to maw ....like i get it that maw has telekinasis but Dr strange has so much more at disposal and he chooses what a rope to throw at maw ...i mean what is that supposed to do...in endgame we all know that Dr strange was just there to teleport army and then they just literally put him out of movie plumbing..... didn't even bothered to give him a rematch to maw or Thanos ...no way home again kick off plot for stupidest reason like bro you are responsible for whole multiverse's safety and you cast a spell which can affect both known and unknown realities to get somone into mit....then again worst way to put him out of movie ....defeated by spiderman in his own dimension....like writers couldnt think of better reason even i can think a better reason ...if movie showed that spiderman villains weren't only ones to enter MCU and numerous magical foes also entered the universe that would be realistic then only a few selected spiderman villains and Dr strange has do deal with it ...sure it's a spiderman movie and you don't want to lose the focus on spiderman so you could just adress it and keep the fight of Dr strange offscreen to be addressed in future ....or maybe give 2 min screentime divided in 30 seconds clips ......or just show some effects of fight on main earth ....but no they had to make Dr strange a clown ....and his 2nd movie ...i dont even wanna talk about it ...
They will just make him a clown and background character just to kick off the plot and then get rid of him ....and they will surely make one of Marvels as leader of team even if they don't have a quarter of capabilities as Dr strange

The MCU feels very similar to Fast & Furious, Pirates of The Caribbean and the Transformers franchise, how they all pretty much had an ending (Endgame, Furious 7, At Worlds End & DOTM) and instead of letting them rest, the studio decided to milk the franchise because of how much money they made and because of it, audiences are now starting to get tired of it.

Same with Wanda learning she's been getting others with trying to escape to a false reality/alternative universe. Eternals is almost no cameos and very self contained. I feel like they're trying to introduce a "new Tony Stark" with all of these new characters by making them witty and whatnot, but the problem is that it doesn't work. Tony Stark could be witty and arrogant because he was a billionaire playboy philanthropist with one hell of an ego, but over time, his ego began to soften while still remaining outwardly the same. If there was a problem he had to overcome he'd sit down, study, research, experiment, fail, then get back up and give it another go. But many of these new characters seem to skip all that and remain the "witty, sarcastic, strong and independent character". If they fail it's the fault of the other, if they win, it just strokes that ego, and all their ego and confidence only stems from them being "strong". Virtually nothing about them softens and they don't learn anything that sticks with them throughout their future appearances, only how to control their power or something but then master almost immediately.
I also want to throw out that all of the new characters being introduced are the archetypal "strong independent woman", the only male characters are sidelines mentors and Spider-Man, whom everyone in the world forgot. I wouldn't have any problem with a mostly female team, but the only main problem there really other than what hasn't already been said, is that once they all come together, it's essentially a group of people with the exact same personality.
In the first Avengers, everyone was different. Tony was still a little egotistical and rude, Steve was a bit self-righteous, Bruce was anxious and paranoid, Hulk was out of control, Thor was pretty belittling, and Clint and Natasha could only rely on each other and were too formal with the others, and all of them were forced into a room together. But as they worked together all their flaws and preconceptions began to dissipate. While they still had a few fights, they only ever got serious when it came to very personal things, but ultimately they began to be friends and started working together with any new additions to the team while still maintaining similar chemistry they had with their old teammates. Their difference in strength didn't matter in their dynamic, it was their difference in character and principles.
Now that each of these new additions are a cardboard cut-out of the last one, their personalities are simply too similar to garner interest yet create friction for an appreciable dynamic. It's like that one scene from Rick & Morty where Jerry clones himself and some of the clothes are actually trying to solve a problem, while the other more egotistical clones are too focused on themselves to actually do something meaningful.
The fact that only Dr. Strange and Bruce are sort of part of the team yet they're not even allowed to be decent mentors to their successors by the writers, and Spider-Man has been forgotten about by everyone, and most of the other older members are more of a B-team group who we have no idea what they've been up to since or are just doing their own thing, Thor is being Thor, I don't really have high hopes for the next Avengers.
Other than a new Spider-Man movie, I'd say the only film that I know of that would make for a passable watch would be the next Shang-Chi movie, simply because seeing the students of Wong and Strange interact might be funny. Or if they decided to make a whole new movie with Infinity Ultron without plot armor, because Infinity Ultron was badass.

This is spot on. The writing has been pretty bad since Endgame. I didn't hate Hawkeye or Ms. Marvel. Moonknight wasn't awful... Thor straight up sucked and Multiverse of Madness was just a huge disappointment, but I've been able to find some enjoyment from them at least. Certainly not compared to what came before them, but I had to throw in the towel with She-Hulk. It's the worst show I've ever watched personally. Agenda > Story. Looking at who we have going forward it's really hard to imagine anyone replacing the original magic that RDJ and Evans brought to the table. If they'd give the women some actual adversity and a compelling story arc that doesn't just center around their opposition to the men around them it'd be great, but that just hasn't been the case so far. I've seen everything Marvel has put out so far, but unless they pull back the agenda some and get back to actual storytelling, I might have to dip out.

Loki was the first MCU anything that I just didn't finish watching. I knew exactly what it was going to do with Loki, I knew exactly what the "mystery Loki" was, and I knew exactly how it was all gonna be handled. I wasn't interested. I'm still interested in finishing Moon Knight after looking forward to it so much, but based on what I've heard about the finale, a lot of interest went out the window. "Are you an Egyption superhero?" "I am." Cringe... I didn't even bother with Ms. Marvel, a character who has potential to be good, but a character that never will be so long as it insists on a dishonest, sitcom caricature of being a child of "traditional" Pakistani Muslim immigrants to America. She-Hulk is just outright cringe for a plethora of reasons. Shang-Chi was pretty good, Spider-Man: No Way Home was way better than it had any right to be, and Hawkeye was better than I expected. I didn't like that Kate Bishop was the POV character and not Clint Barton, but I appreciated that it didn't disrespect Hawkeye as a character and that they managed to make Kate Bishop into a likable human being. Falcon & the Winter Soldier was mostly fun, but the writers/showrunner didn't have the intelligence to handle these weighty themes with any degree of nuance, skill or tact, and you can definitely tell they cut things out of the story (the manufactured pandemic storyline that was supposed to happen would've been cool and uncoincidentally rather evergreen). Lot of potential and passingly entertaining, but half-baked with weak writing and direction where it desperately needed the exact opposite. What If was radically inconsistent, but all in all, it was solid with the exception of maybe one or two episodes. The Dr. Strange episode is easily the best thing out of Phase 4. Wandavision was really great, but I describe it like a beautiful gymnast that does an incredibly well-performed routine until right at the very end when she face plants or breaks an ankle. All in all, it all comes down to weak, inexperienced and agendas driven writing and direction, where too many of them are just people who want to parasitize off of the franchise's popularity for their own interests and ambitions, they don't care anything about and have little interest in learning about the material they're actually adapting, and I bet they resent the fact that they have to lower themselves to doing cape stories in order to get their voice out there, on top of resenting the fact that a lot of them are diversity hires whose work gets scrutinized by actual fans who have a modicum if expectations for the adaptations they clearly don't care about honoring.

Up until No Way Home, I thought that they're planning for Dr. Strange to fill the void. Him not being the Sorcerer Supreme is actually a good thing since it allows him to do more heroic stuff while Wong being Sorcerer Supreme deal with the more global scale (or should I say, multiversal). Kind of like how Tony and Steve is the figurehead of The Avengers but Nick Fury as the Director of SHIELD is the one that tie them all together. It also fit the theme, as the MCU when Tony at the lead is more on the technological side and now moving to the mystical side of things, Strange is just fit for the role. But yeah, they screw that up with Multiverse of Madness (I like the movie, but they really butchered Dr. Strange character there). They still can fix it, but it won't be easy.
Tom Holland Spider-Man wouldn't really work as a primary figurehead. Aside from the obvious Sony problem, I can't see him standing equally with the likes of Dr.Strange, Thor and Captain Marvel. Tony meanwhile always had an equal footing with Captain America and Thor. In Universe, not popularity as Spider-Man is obviously the most popular Marvel character.
Thor could work if it was Infinity War Thor, current Thor is a joke and I don't think they'll turn the character around anytime soon. I love Ragnarok & IW Thor, there he have a good balance of joke and badassery while LaT just makes him really dumb (Jane was really good tho-). Same for The Hulk but he's already being butchered far back (Not that he's ever have any potency as main character anyway).
Black Panther as you said would make for a great Captain America replacement, but we all know what happened.
Captain Marvel actually would make a good second lead. An opposition to character like Dr.Strange. Instead of a good-natured character like Steve Rogers we get someone who is more antagonistic. It'll make an interesting dynamic. However Marvel desperately need to develop her character first.
All in all, Its also interesting to see a Villain like Doom fill such role. I just don't really know how that will work exactly.

Honestly, after Endgame I was seriously hoping they'd lean into Spider-man knowing he had to help establish the next wave of heroes. He had the pressures of being the next Iron Man, and didn't want to - so why not have him help ease in the new Avengers because like Tony he realized the earth was defenseless and needed a team. I thought this wave was meant to introduce the Young Avengers, i.e. Wandavision with Billy and Tommy - Loki with Young Loki - IronHeart (because it was going to happen) - Hawkeye to Kate Bishop - the then unnamed Hulk related media with Hulking, Ms. Marvel (it's in the title) - and America Chavez somewhere somehow. So I was confused when we went full blown multiverse so fast while simultaneously being introduced to these other other characters (such as the Eternals, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Morbius). The issue is as you said, the direction of everything just seems without focus. If they had wanted us to love any newcomers, then why not built upon a team that some audiences were already familiar enough with and make them better. We could have had a core team similar to the dynamics of the Teen Titans, beloved and all but different enough as to be their own thing outside of our "Justice League" figures (Phase 4). By Phase 5 we could have then had them meet with other heroes from throughout the multiverse (their stories established through their own solo films or shows). That way you can still have your Moon Knight, your Shang Chi, and anyone else - but we could experience this ride through the eventual meet-ups with our established team (which was the essence of everything leading to Infinity War). And if not the Young Avengers, then okay - whomever, just pick a focal point before we start jumping into these huge cosmic events because without an anchor the ship is risking being pulled out to sea and no one wants that.

But they're also hiring writers and directors that have no respect for the prior characters or films. This phase it seems like an intentional choice to tear down previous heroes in order to make the new ones look better.
I definitely agree that they've spread themselves too thin, but there's also a sense of apathy from Marvel studios in terms of keeping their universe consistent, and I think it's because they feel they've gotten to big to fail, and they can just phone it in now. All of this phase has been laden with comments from writers and directors that should honestly have been embarrassing to the studio, but they don't seem to care

5:47, I think the fundamental problem is that now there is an obsession with franchising every superhero movie rather than telling a single self-contained story and that the result is that they refuse to have any of their movies be stand-alones despite the advantages than a stand-alone movie can have. One of the best things about Moon Knight is that unlike the other Disney Plus shows it wasn’t reliant upon the audience having watched virtually every Marvel Cinematic Universe property there was and as such could be independently enjoyed. (Unlike WandaVision which presupposes knowledge of Age of Ultron, Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame or Falcon and Winter Soldier which relies upon hefty knowledge of the Captain America trilogy and last two Avengers movies, or Loki (which at least sums up Loki’s greatest hits in a clip show in the first episode) or What If which is specifically retelling stories based on slight deviation or Hawkeye which relies on Endgame, Black Widow and Daredevil or She-Hulk which is by its own admission a “cameo every week show”.

I know they intended to use him in Wandavision, but cut him because apparently they didn't like the narrative of a guy coming in to fix a problem Wanda created - but ironically, it might have helped bridge Wandavision to Multiverse of Madness and helped this issue, considering he's in Far From Home as well.
I think if you were to watch the films themselves, this issue might not have been as bad, but with the TV shows, it's just broadening the world, making it feel less cohesive. I think the TV Shows are a big problem generally tbh.

Other than seeing 2 more solo movies since endgame, we haven’t seen as much Spider-Man as we would need to even call him the new “centerpiece character”. Now part of this is Sonys fault, because apparently Spider-Man was supposed to appear in falcon and the winter solider and she-hulk, but was rejected by Sony to do so, but again, Marvel is still to blame for trying to make their centerpiece character so hard to put into a ton of projects.

It’s so hard to give a determined answer on who could be the new face because there’re characters I want to see more of/think could have an interesting through line but I’m not sure people would be invested enough in them/I’m unsure what arc they could go through at this point.
My first instinct is to say Rhodey. He’s one of the original side characters who up to now hasn’t received nearly enough attention as a character. He’s connected to Tony in that they were best friends, it’s someone who we are familiar with who could take on the mantle of “new face.” Except the issue is he’s been around since phase 1 and they’ve barely done anything with him. At this point I doubt there’d be enough interest to warrant him taking on the position. But also I’m unsure what arc we could put rhodey through for a through line.
Bucky would be someone who could have the weight of the fallout of Endgame/Steve’s departure which from my understanding FAWS tried to do (I refused to watch that show but maybe I should go back and do so now), but the focus sounded to be more on what Sam felt. Bucky could’ve been the guy who, as Steve’s best friend, tried to continue Steve’s legacy in protecting the world, as well as working through his own demons and past. I’d say no to Bucky though because he’s not charismatic in the way Tony was, he’s more like how you placed Black Panther.
I WOULD have said Dr. Strange until they assassinated him in Multiverse of Madness….need I say more.
Hear me out, and not necessarily as the only figure head at the front more of a side support, but Loki. I think the decision to kill off the main timeline Loki in IW was the wrong choice. Modern Hollywood has a habit of giving a character a redemption arc/partial arc and then immediately killing them off instead of allowing us to see where that character can go from there. Loki at the end of Ragnarok seemed to have mostly turned another leaf, deciding to stay at Thor’s side presumably as an advisor. Then IW happens and they kill him off. And the reason I say all this is because CLEARLY Marvel wanted a “good” Loki to play around with that’s WHY the show exists but instead of a Loki who naturally went from egotistical asshole with a chip on his shoulder to a damaged man who loves his brother and his people despite everything he’s put them and himself through and returns home to be with them, we get a 5 minute scene of Avengers Loki watching his other self’s journey. It doesn’t hit.
What they should have done was kept original Loki alive, either have him end up in space with Thor or send him to earth with Bruce to warn the avengers. The team would be forced to confront a lot of old wounds, a lot of struggles that forced them together in the first place. It also would have made sense to have someone on the team who knew Thanos well enough to strategize a better plan.
My point is Loki could have made for an interesting, prominent figure in the new MCU (which again they seem to want but the screwed it up) as an ex-villain who now has to face the reality of the things he did to the people of earth, to his own people, and to the avengers team. We also could have gotten closure on Loki’s arc in regard to Thanos, let Loki fight in the final battle, let him actually prove to Thanos that he is a true son of Odin, a prince, and someone to not take lightly. IW even gave us the bit during his scene where we call back to avengers 1 when he repeats Tony’s “we have a hulk” line. Yes I know it was a callback but I kinda saw it as signifying Loki’s decision to be on the right side for once.
Point here is, Loki shouldn’t have died and the Loki we have in phase 4 should have been the main timeline’s Loki.
As for a villain character, we COULD have a villain as the face of the MCU in Wanda if they hadn’t butchered her arc. Wanda as a villain could have worked if they’d taken the time to build it. For one, if you want the Westview/WandaVision plot, it should have taken place in between IW and Endgame. Wanda doesn’t get dusted, she lives and still grieves vision. It could also make more sense because in that 5 year span of time, maybe she still does the end, forces the people of westview into her “game.” But she actually gets stopped by the government and taken in, imprisoned for the remainder of time. Maybe Nat and the others offer her a deal to get her out on good behavior if she agrees to help with the time heist. Maybe she agrees but screws it up all to save vision. Maybe she doesn’t mess it up but still harbors vengeance and anger and still gets her fight with Thanos, but by the end still isn’t satisfied and still wants her family back and then we can have more time to build up to the darkhold if they’re that keen on using it. Build up to Wanda’s need for power and her grief driving her. We could have had something interesting if they’d done it right.
That was quite the rant on my part. If anyone made it this far, my apologies lol.

I think 5 things should've happened. 1) Dr. Strange should've been the focal point of the series and Wong could've been the person to represent him if they didn't want to pay for Benedict Cumberbatch cameos in everything.
    2) Television Series should've introduced a cast of characters that would group up like the Defenders in Netflix (Defenders might've sucked, but dammit all if Netflix didn't absolutely kill it in most of those shows).
    3) For Bigger stories that are going to play in the full Cinematic Universe in a big way, they should've been far more contained Mini-Series, instead of TV-Shows. Instead of 8 to 10 episodes, they should've told a coherent, long end narrative, with a full point to launching the MCU.
    4) The timeline should've been so much better. Things should've been released while they were fresh in people's minds. To create this narrative.
    5) I love the representation in the films and shows, but I would've made sure that we don't nerf our prior male leads, so that the women can be strong in comparison. I would've recast T'Challa by using the Multi-verse and setting up a plot structure that has this T-Challa dying a hero's death at the beginning of his movie, working with Dr. Strange to a close a dimensional riff, and a new T'Challa forms, and made the story around them coming to terms, figuring out if they can trust him. Where he still has a familial connection to all of them, they don't know him. But when he saves them from Namor, they come to respect him as king, and Shuri says, I still will not call you Brother, but I will call you friend. And he accepts that.
Here's how my vision of the MCU would've gone.
Loki Miniseries, where the focus becomes who is really in control of this timeline magistrate, and his other selves, all having gone through their redemption arcs (besides him), turn out to be hunted, because each for some reason or another escaped their timelines set out by the director of the timeline magistrate. Pretty much I would've trimmed episodes 3 and 4 and made it 5 episode show and kept Loki at the center of it.
Enter Spiderman: No Way Home as a consequence of all the multi-verses being formed, when the spell goes awry, and things happen, a special book has rewritten itself to alert of the multi-verse, and then the movie plays out exactly the same.
Shang-Chi could've hinted at some multi-versal pull from the rings, causing his father to share life and power with all that use the rings in other dimensions (thus preparing a McGuffin hunt as the MCU moves forward). I really enjoyed Shan-Chi and think it failed because of Covid more than quality (it could've probably honed in on the plot more, strengthened the reason for the father wanting stuff, and like I said, let us see that the creation of a multi-verse has affected our timeline in which these secret organizations now formed, and stuff like that). We get cameo from Wong at the end.
Wanda/Vision, the rise of the Scarlett Witch. Here we could've learned Dr. Strange was no longer sorcerer supreme, and wasn't strong enough to stop Wanda at the height of her mental breakdown. But it's made clear she's the villain. There are some things I think could've been done a little different, but again, I think the show was strong, if they didn't try to make her a victim, or make it like she sacrificed anything. Realizing she can't control her magic, she turns herself over to Dr. Strange, who locks her in a magic prison.
Eternals should've been a Mini-Series that turns into a movie in Phase 5. They could've explored all the plot points and stories over 6 hours, introduced us to a new Big Bad, eliminated all the unnecessary characters, and left us with a small group that could eventually help out in future shows.
Thor Love and Thunder: In search of a cure for her cancer, Jane Foster is called by Mjolnir through Loki reaching through a void, thinking that he could contact his brother. The shattered Mjolnir however causes Jane to fall through the multiverse, risking an incursion, he finds another way to pull Thor into the timeline. They end up in the chambers of the Gods outside of all time, as they have all retreated from Gorr, but their actions and travel will have alerted Gorr. So forth and so on. Playing up the Multi-verse completely, and the risk of Incursion on a small scale.
Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness: This is where the incursion of the entire multi-verse is at risk. A Kang is seeking to reembody himself with his more wicked sides in control, and if he succeeds he will be in complete power of the Multiverse. McGuffin one. And the place where we introduce the complete big bad in the first hint that we know what we're building to. Though Dr. Strange is no longer the sorcerer supreme, he manages with the help of future heroes that will come out in Phase 5 from other dimensions. He now becomes something something of the Multi-verse. Then you have something big happen in the mid credit scene, another major event on this earth, threatening Wakanda, and he appears in Shuri's lab, saying, I need your brother's help.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever: At the opening we see the Black Panther and his full army, fighting some big bad multi-dimensional force trying to get the vibranium. Shuri yells for him to pull back, but he can stop the event from happening, at the heart of an energy, taking all the energy and blowing up his suit and himself. He does it. The suit evaporating, we see his face, as Wakanda is saved once more, and his body tears through the multi-verse. Now weaken without a king, Shuri tries to reassemble her brother, tries to create technology that can access the multi-verse, and a year later she pulls through someone not her brother who says he is T'Challa, king of Wakanda. He's noble, regal, just looks different, but he recognizes Shuri and his mother. His story is one of tragedy in which Wakanda was destroyed and he failed to protect her, his family killed, his people gone. He was not strong enough. They don't know if they can trust him, but Namor, the man who in his world destroyed Wakanda, now comes to Wakandan soil once more. And it's his chance at protecting his country, whether they want him to or not. At the end, they come to trust this new T'Challa, and respect him, but he takes the mantle of black panther, but gives Shuri the mantle of Queen, as this is not his land. But he promises to be the protector of Wakanda, a servant of its shores (not yet ready or prepared to take the mantle of king for his failures in his own dimension... they don't get a risk of incursion because her brother's being went through the dimensional rift.
    For T.V Series.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier could've set up a television team of American protectors, and people trying to destabilize the country.
Ms. Marvel, American Chavez (could've been a way to link the tv series to the bigger stories), Female Hawkeye, She-Hulk, and (I would've chosen another young person story instead of Moon Knight... maybe have used Iron Heart).
Female Hawkeye could've set up she-hulk, with Kingpin going to California, and attempting to assassinate Jen, and then Hulk making the painful decision to save her. Now we have a world big bad and we have Kingpin hire Titania to defend against She-Hulk, and Daredevil can then be reintroduced as he tracked Kingpin down.
American Chavez could've had her story told with Dr. Strange in the background and with Wong.
Moon Knight had his story, but find someway to connect it to American Chavez or to Ms. Marvel.
And then start talking about a Young Avengers, led by Falcon and Winter Soldier, who, not for nothing, are the group that defeat Kang the Conqueror in the comic books.
There were so many opportunities in these franchises and in how they were expanding that was just destroyed by Hubris, Greed, and the need for quantity over quality.

I echo what others have said: it is the writing. The example I point to is Thor. Look at Thor in Avengers Infinity War versus what we are given now in Love and Thunder. Whether you as a viewer enjoyed Love and Thunder or not you can't deny that Thor is no longer the character we saw in Infinity War. I cried in theatres for both parts, was so immersed in each film, that I yelled NO at the screen for the first time in my life when iron Man got stabbed by Thanos. @@TheMovieCynic YES! And that can be good or bad! Having a charismatic character/actor can really mask a trash movie *initially*
But as i always say, if ya go to the doctor and ya have no symptoms, they'll send ya home. These trash movies need all the negative press they can get so we can actually get quality soone rather than later

Having Doctor Doom as the backbone of the future MCU is actually genius.

The problem with new mcu is that there is no evolution with characters. What will be the arc of characters ? I don’t know how those new characters could actually change. Steve changed, tony changed, hulk changed, even smaller characters like black widow and hawkeye changed. But i don’t see where the universe can go now, characters wise. There is a story that is planned but to have a good story, you need good characters. Even a meh movie can be great if it has great characters with great chemistry. I hope the mcu will get better but for now, it’s a lot of uncertainty.

phase 4 was suposed to establish the cosmic/gods side of marvel and until now the best we only get teaser of the cosmology of marvel. Like nova , FF, Dr Doom and this would lead to the anahilation wave event lasting a whole phase

Hopefully Reed Richards can fill the void Tony left behind. It would make a lot of sense because the fantastic four are the cornerstone and first family of the marvel universe.

The saddest part to me is that the same has happened with their tv series, in the earlier shows, daredevil and punisher were just amazing. The fact that a whole tv show was created around punisher because people liked him enough off appearing in a few episodes of daredevil is a clear indication of how well the two characters were written and loved. Iron fist wasn't close to as good, but still a decent show that I would be happy to recommend someone to watch once.
Now they're forcing daredevil on to the big screen, which I can't lie, if they can keep up the writing from the show, I'm excited about it. But given how they're writing the other characters, I'm scared to ruin the show for myself lol.

It's time for a new movie paradigm. Superheros have been exhausted.

Nah I disagree. I think Multiverse, Loki, Wandavision, and No Way Home are more than enough to carry Phase 4. Especially as this is more of an introductory phase to lead up to the new threat which is (Spoilers for Loki)
Kang-who is a multiversal threat and will probably be the ultimate villain before the Secret Wars storyline.
