Do I recall rightly that there are hay combines that cut and rake with the same equipment? At some point, maybe leasing something would be worth it to save on man-hours, fuel, etc maybe?
Here in South Central South Dakota We have cut around 400 acres already and have about 750 acres left or more ............Best of luck during your haying season...
We so enjoy watching you dealing with all the challenges of your Wyoming life. We are 2 retired sisters with a few chickens in Florida. We are also big beef eaters and we now have a whole new appreciation for how this process works. Thank you for sharing your time and family with us. Like the idea of the podcasts.
As a small time producer myself, I'd love to hear the interview format. Even if it's not long form podcasts, some videos on this channel in that vein would be great!
That Hay Cutter you're using must be an antique looks like the same one my Grandfather used to use on his tractor mind you his only came up one side but it used the same cutters all the other places I watched that do hey don't use those ones You're best to cut all night sleep all day wake cooler😁😁😁Very good video keep up the good work and take care
Roll that beautiful hay footage. Good video thanks for sharing . Also enjoyed the music add in. One music reminded me 30 and 30 titled Springing a leak. Weird I know, but thanks for all of the videos!
I'm sure it sounds strange to most folks and ya'll that a 73 year old lady absolutely loves watching your channel & all aspects of your ranch. You guy's work so hard and seem to love that life. I armire that & I wish I could have been raised on a ranch. Hope you dont think I'm too crazy Mike but I'm a big fan of you & your family. God Bless from A Grandma in North Carolina. ❤🙏
I will watch what you put out for us to watch. I enjoyed watching hay making. I use to enjoy it. I worked hard for 1 week . Tired as heck. But i knew that the winter can through us whatever the weather and we will a survive. Beef, pig, chicken, duck, 3 turkeys and eggs in the freezer. Thank you for bringing me along. God Bless you and your side kick Jeff.
Great to have hay abundantly this year. Prayed you would have a bumper crop and by golly you do. At least you can go into the night, here in Iowa Dew sets in and it starts to get wet. And that can very from day to day. Then in the morning wait till it gets dry enough to start. Did you get the feed mixer fixed. I'm guessing you did. I like the drone shots you get. Thanks Mike and Jeff. Look forward to the videos.
Yet again another great video. I don't have much time for watching videos so I play catchup whenever I get a chance. That being said, the idea of podcasts is awesome! I can listen to podcasts while I work or when I am on the road. 🤠🙂
Enjoyed the video. That field makes my 10 areas very small, but we have to go through the same process. Our humidity here in North Carolina is so high we usually have the turn or rake ours twice. Hope all those gents and ladies enjoy.
mike when it comes to cutting corners with a double 9 try turning hard right when the lead cutter bar comes out of the uncut grass and steering the back bar through the corner you wont waste time turning to the left the back bar will always be cutting and will be turning the way the machine was intended to turn it takes a little practice but is very quick
No joke baling into the night. Glad you managed to get the baler fixed. Too much dew here to do that, though they cut the wheat/barley round me late into the night. If you have extra hay, for the winter will you buy some more cattle.
Couldn't be more thrilled for you! I know in your last video, you were pretty frustrated, understandably, but this really makes up for it. Love the idea of podcasts and input from other producers. Better Days and Be Blessed! Janes Dough
If you start interviewing other content creators, I would recommend "Farmer Tyler Ranch". He runs a family owned Beef Cattle ranch In California north east of Sacramento. He has amazing shop skills and can make just about everything he needs from junk around the ranch. I don't think he has a much land available to him but I believe his breeding heard and steer heard are about the same size as yours. He is still taking cows to auction. He is also a one man operation. But he is very good at explaining why he does certain things and has a solid background in agriculture.
Instead of driving so much, why don't you start on the outside of the field and trim the fenceline or outside border, then keep going eventually into a continuous circle....final trimming the 4 corners is a lot less of "dead" driving than what you are presently doing??? Just a thought.
Mike, enjoying your haying videos. Glad you have hay to cut and bale this year. My memories of haying was a lot of work. I do remember that the farmers would come together, and help each other get their fields done. They used a square baler. I did really enjoy the meals that the farmers wives and others put on for the farmers and workers. The other thing I remember is when one of the farmers bought a conveyor belt which we hooked part of onto the square bailer, which would allow us to off load the bailer onto a cart and just stack the bales. A lot easier than bucking them off the ground onto the cart. It was also very helpful in putting the bales up in the hayloft. We use to handle a bale of hay at least four times. It was a good work out though. A podcast would be great. Thank you for keeping ranching alive and help people understand where some of there food is coming from. Thank you also to ranch hand Jeff. Take Care.
Thank you for taking the time to explain the system. When I did the hay season, it was the square bales of hay and was done by hand. We take it from the machine, hand stack and them take it off the wagon and stack it in the barn. Was hard work. I think I like your style of hay much. Thanks for sharing your videos ❤
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Great to see a bail count in line with your needs. Recently watched a video about a movement to try to restore native grasses to the prairie. The one grass they were primarily talking about was called Big Bluegrass. Said the roots are typically 8’ deep compared to a foot or two of more typical non native grasses. Thought that was an interesting idea. Any insights you have considering the positive and negative traits might make an interesting subject. Wishing you and your family the best.
Hey Mike, glad to see haying season is moving along. Yes please on the podcast, I've missed it and would really enjoy having it available again. We reached 93° here in south western Montana today so summer is here. Stay safe and productive. I'll see y'all this fall when I head back South for the winter. Also, thank you for your participation in Harvest Host. I always look forward to staying at your ranch.
Congratulations Mike on a great haying season. Happy to see the baler didn't require a lot of work and more costly repairs. Terrible time to have the baler go down when you already have hay cut and on the ground. Great seeing Jeff in the videos. I have soi much respect for him to come back each year to help out on the ranch. I remember working out in the fields at my uncle's farm in N.D. until midnight and then up at 4:30am to go milk 325 head of cattle. Farming/ranching is a lot of work and nowhere near a Mon-Fri, 8-5 job. Different times of the year it's a 20+ hour day, 7 days a week. Thank you so much for all you do the supply food for the tables of many. Blessings
That is a great idea. Getting different responses from ranchers and farmers from around the country for their techniques, what issues they are having to deal with at the time of broadcast and their outlook for the coming year(s).
Hay Mike and Jeff, Great video! Great drone shots!! It's wonderful to see your baler up and running! Kudos to your JD dealer for getting it fixed quickly. You are already getting a nice amount of bales ready for stacking. It's excellent to have your own hay to feed your animals! Saves $$ too! Thanks for sharing your ranch life with us!! Until your next video ~~~Stay safe, healthy and happy! 🐄 🐃 🐃 🐃 🐃 🐃
I'm so happy for your ranch and the outstanding year you're having with haying, kudos gentlemen. I want to see you and Jeff stay "SAFE" when it comes to baling and the breakdowns. Yes, I hope you do past and present for your Podcast-
I love being the ranch live stream that you and Erin do. Putting it over on podcast form I think would be a super idea. And I could think of several farmers and producers that you could interviews that would give you some great information, such as Cole the Cornstar down Iowa and the Walkers which I think you know. Sonne farms down the Dakotas. So many here on UA-cam that is just a few that I watch. But Our Wyoming life is where I turn to the most because it’s not just informative, but it is fun to watch especially when Jeff, Cary and Erin are all betting their entertaining selfs on the videos. And of course seeing the kids is great as well, seeing how much they are growing, and starting to get out with you to check cattle, and even driving the side by side now, that video was truly a treat and so funny to watch. She drive like she been driving for a few years and not just one time lol. She had no problem knowing where the gas pedal was lmbo. Great video
Mike, I think a podcast would be great. Also getting other people's take on agriculture would be interesting to see what kind of challenges they have. We have enjoyed telling other people about your channel and they have subscribed. Long hrs but solitude is a great thinking time.
I would not listen to your podcast, but I must tell you and Jeff how much I enjoyed this video. I don't know if it was the change in your demeanor as you were talking today, the drone video that I always enjoy, the change of pace with Jeff talking to us, the detailed explanation of what you were teaching us today, along with showing us, or perhaps it was the lack of being inside the bouncy-bounce 4-wheeler zooming over the pastures. Whatever it was or wasn't, great work today!!
Another great video Mike. I enjoyed listening to your podcast. My wife and I would enjoy being guest at some point on a podcast. We have a beef operation in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Hope haying continues well for you. We have just started taking our second cutting off for the year here. Stay safe!
I think a pod cast would be awesome. Especially interviews of other people. Great idea.
Do I recall rightly that there are hay combines that cut and rake with the same equipment? At some point, maybe leasing something would be worth it to save on man-hours, fuel, etc maybe?
I like the idea of you talking to other ranchers and farmers about how things work for them
There is always a lot of hope with hay.
Alot of work. Jeff is a GREAT ranch hand !!!
Burin the Candle~~~~~~~~~~~~~Carry on !!! Hay is a fast forward JOB!!!
Thanks for showing how you cut and bail. I love watching the jobs on the ranch.
Howdy Mike , and Jeff it makes my ❤happy to see the rolling Hay Fields all cut and ready to put up🎉.
HAY🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉.
JO JO IN VT 💞
Great video Mike! I am just so thankful you guys were able to hay this season. Just makes life so much easier!
Thanks Carrie. Having Hay to put up sure takes some weight off our shoulders.
Give it a little time l think you might like it a little better 😮
And cheaper!
It looks like your baler is not picking up all the hay. The drone footage of Jeff raking is awesome!
Running thru a field with headlights brings me back to my days lifting beets.
Thanks for sharing the memory Deb.
Here in South Central South Dakota We have cut around 400 acres already and have about 750 acres left or more ............Best of luck during your haying season...
Our wyoming life I hope you have a great week and I enjoyed the video
That would be great Mike ❤ it's a good thing it would be nice to hear from different farmers
Definitely! I love the content and I’d love to listen when I can’t watch.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Podcasts are good for me. I work early in the mornings so I can get caught up then.
Makin' hay while the 🌜moon🌛 shines
LOL I was thinking the same thing last night.
Good job Mike and Jeff
It is so nice to see ranch and Jeff. He is excellent. I love watching him.👍✝️❤️🥰
Great drone work and clear explanation of the process.
It's good to see all that hay brother from the imperial county California 👍👍🇺🇲🚜
Thanks Francisco.
I would like a podcast . Happy to see that hay . Great video as always .
I like your ideas with the podcasts. I would listen to them.
Yup. Farmers work when the work needs doing.
As a small time producer myself, I'd love to hear the interview format. Even if it's not long form podcasts, some videos on this channel in that vein would be great!
I found your channel by listening to Off the Husk… interviewing other farmers and industry people would be great…I wish Zach could continue it.
Good to hear that you got your baler working again. Thanks for involving us in your busy day(s). 👍🏻
Had to get the Baler fixed ASAP! Our JD dealer got it fixed and back working. Thanks for watching.
I don’t usually have time to listen to podcasts, but I encourage you to give it a try and see how it goes.
Thanks Juanita.
Here in the UK usually farmers are looking for dry weather to make their hay, always a eye out looking for rain clouds.
RIP to the bees that the DJI drone chopped up 🤣
Great Video! I had the smell of fresh hay in my nose (dust too). Greetings from Frankfurt Germany!
Thanks
Would love a podcast from you guys!!
Podcast would be nice n I love tractors n watching ur shows
Roll that beautiful hay footage. Good video thanks for sharing . Also enjoyed the music add in. One music reminded me 30 and 30 titled Springing a leak. Weird I know, but thanks for all of the videos!

As they say, bale out while the baling is good
Podcast sounds like a great idea!
you know I really think you should put those ear rings in your nose it looked much better🤣🤣🤣
I would definitely listen to interviews with other farm/ranchers.

You should put an orange flag on the gator so you can see it from a distance in the field where you leave it.
Great video Mike working the nite shift making those bales and keep those cows happy come winter plus the rest of the livestock, would love a podcast
Sounds good on Perspective
Yet again another great video. I don't have much time for watching videos so I play catchup whenever I get a chance. That being said, the idea of podcasts is awesome! I can listen to podcasts while I work or when I am on the road. 🤠🙂
Great job guys
I would listen to a podcast. Get to hear bout other farmers and Mike to
Enjoyed the video. That field makes my 10 areas very small, but we have to go through the same process. Our humidity here in North Carolina is so high we usually have the turn or rake ours twice. Hope all those gents and ladies enjoy.
Like the idea of interviews from perspective of other producers!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Celeste.
I was wondering if any of your tractors had lights on them so you could bale at night.
Now I know 😊

I like the 2nd podcast idea with the interviews.
Couldn't be more thrilled for you! I know in your last video, you were pretty frustrated, understandably, but this really makes up for it. Love the idea of podcasts and input from other producers. Better Days and Be Blessed! Janes Dough

Thanks

You can have vendors on....Other ranchers... Customers... UA-cam followers (like me!)... and some of the OWL crew!
Just sayin!
Nice to see a successful hay harvest Mike.
Enjoyed watching the video Mìke 😊
Glad ya liked it Randy
So happy you got so many bails today, now get some rest!

So interesting to watch. Thank you for sharing!
Glad ya liked it Anne.
That reminds me of using the Old Ford 501 Sickle Mower back in the 70’s! It was a 9’ Cut but The Newer Disc Mower should be in your Next Purchase!
Thanks for watching John.
Genius Footage. ❤ Congrats on Successful Haying Season🐄🌿☘️🍀🌾🍀

14% humidity. I live 2 miles off shore of Lake Michigan, 44% is low for us lol
Look at the size of those bales!
I was thinking how pretty they are Jerry.
Wow 211 bails is good . Great info about the haying and quality of the hay
Thanks for watching Shirley.

Heck yeah I would love for you guys to have a podcast again. I enjoyed listening to it when you had one.
Glad you enjoyed it. Lets see what we can do.
Hi Mike
Hi Barb
I like the podcast idea. Especially the audio for the lives.
Thanks Jon.
