He never said he hated the idea. He also knew about the Kamp Koral series when it was in development. The outrage is based on assumptions.
unless Kamp Koral was in development for literal years before he became too disabled from ALS to do much of anything i think you're talking random bs. There hasnt ever been any mention of Stephen knowing about Kamp Koral or the Patrick Star Show

I like your video. Just a couple of things I'd like to point out : -Post movie spongebob isn't just one big bad era that has its moments. Season 4 and 5 are pretty good. Seasons 6-8 were terrible with a couple of good episodes in them. And the first half of season 9 (that was pretty middle of the road) was before the second movie. And no the animation wasn't expressive at that time. That was after the second movie. -the second movie isn't bad AT all. You might think it tries to be a couple dozen different movies at once but it's all a big adventure about teamwork. Not to mention how funny and witty the humor in it is in comparison to the first movie which the humor in it was a bit infantile and leaned more towards being childish. It's arguably better and funnier than the first movie. The only thing that probably feels out of nowhere is the superhero stuff. They should've foreshadowed that earlier in the movie (it was supposed to be in a deleted scene) Stephen Hillenburg worked on the movie and then returned to the show and the quality of the show improved alot it had a lot of good episodes until his death halfway through season 12.
@Itskaidaorangeguy2017 it pains me to see people sleeping on that movie. Even though from a movie making standpoint it's alot better than the original in a lot of ways.
@@isomericgamer6644 saying that the first has infantile humor compared to the second is so weird considering every single scene with the seagulls in the second movie
While the 1st movie was meant to be the finale, most people get It confused as the canonical finale even though it has been disproven several times. People use the argument that the Krusty Krab 2 Isn't In any other episode but It's not like Spongebob was ever a series that cared about continuity all that much.
Plus people don't seem to see the idea that the episodes aren't shown in canonical order, so the movie can still be at the very end of the timeline even if there's episodes being released after the movie was released.
I have hope for the fourth theatrical movie because several key pre-movie crew members are returning, including Derek Drymon as director. Nothing will ever top the first movie but I hope bringing back the old team will help. Drymon was basically the show runner alongside Hillenburg in pre-movie so he should know what he would have wanted.
I have a bit of a soft spot for Sponge Out of Water. It was the first movie I saw in 3D. I remeber going to McDonald's afterwards and getting the coresponding Happy Meal toys. :)
Genuinely, in some regards I think Sponge Out of Water surpasses the original. Not completely, both movies have their faults. The original sidelines most of the supporting cast (and Squidward feels like the biggest snub given the dynamic he and SpongeBob share) and Sponge Out of Water has the problem of feeling disjointed and stuff just happening sometimes. But it also has moments that feel like they shine in ways the original movie didn’t. I think it’s a fine sequel since it feels like it succeeds in some regards, even if it fails in others, which is better than a sequel that just kinda doesn’t do much of anything. Speaking of, Sponge on the Run. Like, I won’t act like I hate the movie- I enjoyed it when I watched it. But I can’t really speak in defense of the movie much beyond like, a moment or two I really liked. Since, even if the flashbacks are cheap marketing or cheap attempts to get sympathy from the audience, Roger Bumpass gives a darn good performance as Squidward when speaking in SpongeBob’s defense. It’s genuinely one of my favorite moments for the character. And a bit of the same praise for Clancy Brown and Mr. Krabs’ speech in the same scene. But I genuinely don’t remember much about the movie and it just is an empty movie. About the only thing I will say in defense of the movie is the controversy, from hindsight, over Kamp Koral wasn’t warranted. I mean, when the main voice actor for SpongeBob himself says Hillenburg knew about the spin off, I’m willing to believe that. Doesn’t mean the spin off or the movie marketing it are GOOD, obviously. But for what it’s worth, it’s not a cash grab disrespecting Hillenburg. It’s just a cash grab, which is a problem in and of itself that deserves to be critiqued, but for the right reasons. And obviously, the original is great and was a near perfect cap to the original series. I can speak up about what I think did and didn’t work with the sequels, but I don’t need to or have much to say on the original. It was written in the show’s prime and was an excellent crowning moment for the show. Also, I thought Sandy movie was just okay when I saw it through totally legal means on Twitter. But like the third movie, I retained nothing, and felt not much more than that. It’s not bad, but I’m not gonna say it’s good, either. It exists, and that is the most factual statement I can offer… since I can’t really offer even the passing compliments I gave the third movie.
I thought sponge out of water was two different movies... Even though I watched the movie I thought it was two separate movies the time traveling part and the hero part
The third movie kind of just wraps up like a Family Guy cutaway. "Hey Lois, remember when I met SpongeBob at a camp used only for marketing and ruined all continuity of the previous twenty years?"
So funny story about Sponge Out of Water: Because Nickelodeon plays movies in the evenings, and the only interesting channels on hotel cable channels are kids' channels, I have seen Sponge Out of Water around 5 times, cuz they played it for a week straight while on vacation. Same with Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.
I hope they dont mess up mark hammil as the flying dutchman. I heard things about the plankton movie, and if its as good as they claim it is, we'll be fine
15:27 to be honest reason why sandy or Squidward are barely in the movie cause it's not focused on them the main focus needs to be on SpongeBob and Patrick and their relationship if they did include the rest of the cast it would of been too crowded and loses it focus which 3rd movie sponge out of water is lacks focus
While I always thought the first SpongeBob movie was good and wouldn't argue against it still being one of the best Nickelodeon Movies, I've actually found myself to enjoy Sponge Out of Water just a bit above it now for various reasons I can list: - Main thing to get out of the way is that the second movie uses the show's well-established Krabby Patty secret formula as the main MacGuffin for the characters to get back while it was King Neptune's crown for the first one, with the quest to retrieve said crown driving much of the plot of the first movie. There's just one thing though: the King Neptune we see depicted in the movie is clearly not the same guy who appeared previously in the series, which I'm sure must have always been to the confusion of fans even back when the movie first came out (there is a behind-the-scenes explanation for the change but the movie itself doesn't explain it). Truth is it's only because they changed King Neptune to be bald that a lot of the first movie even worked at all, while Sponge Out of Water doesn't have as many obvious inconsistencies with the show to ask fans to look past. - They went to the trouble of introducing a brand new character to be the main villain after the first movie just used Plankton, leading to a more interesting scenario where SpongeBob and Plankton have to put aside their usual differences on the show and work together as a "te-am" to get the formula back. - Squidward, Mr. Krabs, and Sandy all get to have larger roles in the second one and be more involved in the story as they join SpongeBob later in the film. It pretty much goes without saying that Krabs' role for most of the first movie was being frozen in ice while Squidward and Sandy later ended up just becoming part of Plankton's mind-controlled army. - SpongeBob and Patrick only got to be up on the surface briefly for the first movie while it was obviously a major part of the second movie. Even with the biggest gimmick and selling point of Sponge Out of Water being that the characters become 3D in the live-action world the majority of the film itself is in actuality the same traditional 2D animation as the first movie and main series, and the general idea of the characters changing into a different medium in live-action is really not that far off from what was seen in episodes like "Pressure" when they were stick puppets. - The fact that Plankton's whole driving scheme in the first movie was listed as Plan Z was one of the strongest implications that the movie is meant to take place at the very end of the series timeline-wise, and I do know that Stephen Hillenburg did intend on ending the series with the first movie originally before Nick wanted it to continue. Sponge Out of Water on the other hand is a SpongeBob movie that feels like it could be watched at any point during the series. - A magical talking cosmic space dolphin named Bubbles who watches over the universe? C'mon, how could you not love a concept like that? One so perfectly absurd and fitting for SpongeBob SquarePants. Overall I do think of Sponge Out of Water as a perfect middle ground out of the SpongeBob movies we currently have, between not feeling as inconsistent with the show compared to the first movie and still being a mostly 2D movie when the movies to follow it like Sponge on the Run just seem to be wanting to go the completely 3D route for the foreseeable future. Now is "Goofy Goober Rock" something that the first movie still has over all the others? Yeah, sure.
I think the three movie's we have are great, the second being my favourite for it's artstyle...But we definitely don't need anymore... Also, the second half of Sponge Out of Water was meh.
I feel like Sponge out of water is better in its first half, the 2d part. I never went to see the movie when it released, but when it played on TV after years, I didn't understand that this was the movie with the 3d "Marvel" heroes. They kinda just threw them in the last 20 minutes. Only then I realised that "hey that's the Sponge out of water movie, I saw an ad in the TV about that". Seriously, before watching the last part, I thought they were two different movies.
Considering Sponge out of Water bad *TODAY* is crazy. We took good spongebob for granted. And unfortunately, it's only getting worse... I'd probably move SooW to good and then the original movie to The Great. Everything else can just be the bad and ugly
I don’t hate Sponge on the Run, but I don’t love it either, i could take it or leave it. The gimmick that the movie is sold on kinda feels like an afterthought at best, tacked on to the end so they could put it in trailers. However it’s way better than Sponge on the Run I’ll give you that
Sponge on the Run and Kamp Koral are unforgivably bad, and im pretty sure a youtuber summed it up best the only reason why they even happened, was because Nick waited for Steven Hillenburg to die before greenlighting a spin off, and a movie to advertise the spin off
Thing about Sponge out of water is that it has good stuff and it does have “nautical nonsense”. It’s so stupid, it’s funny. you’re supposed to turn your brain off for these types of movies

Sponge out of water is my guilty pleasure
It’s not a guilty pleasure , it’s a good film !!!! WTF , don’t say that
What?
Why feel guilty? It’s not even a so bad it’s good movie it’s just str8 up good.
And it sucks you have to call it that when id personally say for most of the part, its a pretty good film!! But, I would say me too for sure
honestly, sponge out of water is my favorite of the trilogy (yes, even over the first one)
has alot of nostalgia for me as well as the same reasons I like the Wii U
35:03 Yeah, REPORTEDLY. In actuality, all he stated in regards to spinoffs is that he didn't see them happening, well over a decade before the 3rd movie even came out. He never said he hated the idea. He also knew about the Kamp Koral series when it was in development. The outrage is based on assumptions.
unless Kamp Koral was in development for literal years before he became too disabled from ALS to do much of anything
i think you're talking random bs. There hasnt ever been any mention of Stephen knowing about Kamp Koral or the Patrick Star Show
@@woobgamer5210 You're literally speculating that he became too disabled to stop spinoffs from happening when there's no proof of that, meanwhile you can verify what I said by looking it up. Vincent Waller, a co-worker of his, said he was aware of Kamp Koral. The interview to see his exact wording on spinoffs is from 2009. There, made it easier for you.
The biggest highlight of this video, is that you actually rather watch Out of Water than Sponge on the run.
I love this video. It deserves more views. You deserve more subscribers
I like to believe SpongeBob & Patrick are teenagers who act like kids. Fits the first movie’s theme of maturity & how it relates to teenagers.
Edit: I personally think Season 4 was the last season of the “Golden Era” of SpongeBob. While it’s clear the season was the show started to have some cracks, it had a lot of good episodes like Have You Seen This Snail? Krusty Towers, and even one of my favorites… Patrick Smartpants.
Hey, you're sound like the guy who complains about Squidward's house
You not you’re in this context also his name is Squilliam
@@AlexsAdventures-j4s Not him, i meant there's a meme on the internet when this guy rages about "Squidwards House" and how security System takes control of Squidward's house. It was like rant video of episode "Good Neighbors"
Oh the meme lmao
I like your video. Just a couple of things I'd like to point out :
-Post movie spongebob isn't just one big bad era that has its moments.
You can't correct an opinion
Finally… some justice for sponge out of water. Hard to find that nowadays
@@Red-jl1qr I just did. Pointing out things for people to realize might change their opinion on something.
It appears in as seen on tv
Just a couple more hours of mental preparation and I’ll be good to watch this video!
Help I *LOVED* hearing you say the "MARCH 14th, wait thats not right" Line *AUGHHHHHHHHHHH*
19:44 “if you were around” there’s people watching this video who weren’t around in 2015?? 😭😭
Spongebob first and second movie are both bangers. Everything after that is trash.
Let’s not forget that SpongeBob technically sweared twice in Sponge on the Run
16:02 the plankton voice actor was building up that scream for the tape scene
I have hope for the fourth theatrical movie because several key pre-movie crew members are returning, including Derek Drymon as director. Nothing will ever top the first movie but I hope bringing back the old team will help. Drymon was basically the show runner alongside Hillenburg in pre-movie so he should know what he would have wanted.
26:53 The episode name is "Have You Seen This Snail" [S4 E3 Goated Episode] and the song name is Gary's song.
The swiftie joke made me instantly subscribe
glad to see another the spongebob movie enjoyer (the first)
I watch it 24/7 lol
they did shell city and king neptune dirty bruh
edit: in sponge on the run
I remember seeing the first movie in theaters like it was 5 years ago. TWENTY?!? Wow.
I’m glad this video blew up, I remember this channel ever since the TDI 2023 Season 1 vid
12:24 wait holy shit I watched this movie all the time as a kid for YEARS and I never noticed the numbers in the lava 🤦♀
ME NEITHER
i looked at the channel and was surprised, not even 1k??? this is quality content!
You need waaaaaay more subscribers. I loved the video :)
I have a bit of a soft spot for Sponge Out of Water. It was the first movie I saw in 3D. I remeber going to McDonald's afterwards and getting the coresponding Happy Meal toys. :)
you the type of person who would have framed pictures of spongebob and merch everywhere like patchy the pirate
This is so underrated, what the heck.
This guy is defo going places, his content has so much potential!
This is such an amazing video, you'll totally be famous some day, since many people will definitely love it! Please keep doing what you're doing ❤❤❤
This is a cool video! I think the first 2 movies were great but the recent one was ok. But hey i love an opinion. Btw im your 600th sub!
2:50 The Krusty Sponge really predicted the future.
I love Goofy Goober Rock so much that I lip sync it and I cosplay as sexy Patrick
After the second movie SpongeBob went down
damn i’m honestly surprised by ur sub count, should be much higher imo, keep up the content bro fr
I thought sponge out of water was two different movies... Even though I watched the movie I thought it was two separate movies the time traveling part and the hero part
The third movie kind of just wraps up like a Family Guy cutaway.
"Hey Lois, remember when I met SpongeBob at a camp used only for marketing and ruined all continuity of the previous twenty years?"
jesus this dude only has 200 subs i clicked on his channel and expected like 100K or less this video is really good
19:08 was the order the same as the spongebob patrick blink 182 meme on purpose?
I mean the second SpongeBob movie is not that bad and has it's my favorite SpongeBob movie in the trilogy
the cosmic shacke ost playing
30:50 They explain that later in the spinoff, Kamp Koral is an alternate timeline, so is this movie.
Sponge out of Water acts like 10 different movies and does it.
Omg same bro, we had the same childhood
I hope they dont mess up mark hammil as the flying dutchman.
I heard things about the plankton movie, and if its as good as they claim it is, we'll be fine
Something tells me I know exactly how this video is gonna play out.
am I the only one who likes every movie and episode of spongebob LITTERLAY EVERY EPISODE WILL MAKE ME CHUCKLE
late reply but me too lol
15:27 to be honest reason why sandy or Squidward are barely in the movie cause it's not focused on them the main focus needs to be on SpongeBob and Patrick and their relationship if they did include the rest of the cast it would of been too crowded and loses it focus which 3rd movie sponge out of water is lacks focus
Love this video. Remeber when when your fameous
Can the diabled fish beat the bubble blowers too?
While I always thought the first SpongeBob movie was good and wouldn't argue against it still being one of the best Nickelodeon Movies, I've actually found myself to enjoy Sponge Out of Water just a bit above it now for various reasons I can list:
- Main thing to get out of the way is that the second movie uses the show's well-established Krabby Patty secret formula as the main MacGuffin for the characters to get back while it was King Neptune's crown for the first one, with the quest to retrieve said crown driving much of the plot of the first movie.
Yeah, sure.
sponge out of water time machine scenes went hard asf and i also love the apocalyptic bikini bottom idea
OMG??? ALL HAIL SHADOW BY MAGNA-FI??? IN A SPONGEBOB VIDEO???
subbed. i love Shadow the Hedgehog (2005)
I actually really liked all 3 movies
I think the three movie's we have are great, the second being my favourite for it's artstyle...But we definitely don't need anymore...
Also, the second half of Sponge Out of Water was meh.
20 YEARS?!?!
This is a rlly good video! Keep it up and you’ll blow up in no time :)
imagine what the world would have been like if the first movie ended the show
Considering Sponge out of Water bad *TODAY* is crazy.
We took good spongebob for granted. And unfortunately, it's only getting worse... I'd probably move SooW to good and then the original movie to The Great. Everything else can just be the bad and ugly
The first movie was the only one that didn’t feel like a cash grab IMO.
I don’t hate Sponge on the Run, but I don’t love it either, i could take it or leave it. The gimmick that the movie is sold on kinda feels like an afterthought at best, tacked on to the end so they could put it in trailers. However it’s way better than Sponge on the Run I’ll give you that
you said the same movie twice
@@woobgamer5210 I meant Sponge Out of Water for the first one >.
so underrated
Ive seen the spongebob movie 458 TIMES on how good it is
Sponge on the Run and Kamp Koral are unforgivably bad, and im pretty sure a youtuber summed it up best
the only reason why they even happened, was because Nick waited for Steven Hillenburg to die before greenlighting a spin off, and a movie to advertise the spin off
First look:Nice thumbnail,😀
:Watch some of your videos,Never mind😒
That’s not what happened, it was just rlly bad timing. With that being said they both suck tho
I feel the same way felt like they just waited tell he passed then went all in on doing something he didn't want and why ? For money accursed
BRO SPOONGEDBBOB IS SUCH A LLEGEGEND LIKE LSETS GOOOOOOOOOO
Thing about Sponge out of water is that it has good stuff and it does have “nautical nonsense”. It’s so stupid, it’s funny. you’re supposed to turn your brain off for these types of movies
Spongebob movie suffers the same faith as the Balto movie, if you've seen Saberspark's Balto Video.
