      Name Explain
      Some things you got wrong:-
      Hindus and Muslims lived in Indian Subcontinent for hundreds of years like brothers.
      It's HINDUS not HINDI. Hindu is a religious and Hindi is a language.How hard is it to understand.
      K2 is officially part of India under the instrument of annexation of Kashmir. You know what I mean.
      And West Punjab pre partition was a Hindu majority state.
      Your first analogy of the name is not correct as Kashmir was a independent kindom till 1947.

    Fun Fact: The name "Blighty", which refers to Britain, has its roots in the Bengali language word "Bilayati", meaning foreign, this is because when the East India Company got Monopoly trading rights in Bengal, they noticed that the locals called British goods "Bilayati" and assumed that it was their name for Britain.
    PS Hindu refers to the followers of the religion followed by 80% of Indians, Hindi is a dialect continuum of languages than are spoken in Northern India, with the Khariboli dialect serving as the lingua franca, and its Urdu, not Urdi, and its not an Iranian language, its Indo-Aryan, otherwise great video.

      In turn, The word vilayat/bilayat in many Indo-Aryan languages (Not just bengali) originates from the Arabic word 'wilayah' which means State/province.

    • @unclepodger
      @unclepodger 6 років тому +2

      youcometome9 In Bengali that word is pronounced more like "Bee-let-ee" (cuz Bengali doesn't have a w/v sound) (বিলেতি), and probably this sounds closer to "Blighty".

      'Bilayati' most probbaly comes from term Vilayati, which is used even in pakistan to denote foreign world(vilayet) or foreigner(vilayeti).
      The term "vilayat" is actually an Arabic one. which comes from word "waali"(governer). So Vilayat basically means "a governorate" or "an administrative division".

    Here is some fun trivia about the "stan" suffix. Hebrew as you might know is a "revived" language so a lot of the vocabulary is relatively new and coined by Eliezer Ben Yehuda, who spear-headed this revival. so the name he came up with for the word "garden" is בוסתן (pronounced boo-stan). Taking בשם (pronounced bossem) meaning perfume, and borrowing the suffix from Farsi, and combining the two to mean "place of perfume".

    Regardless of what you think about the creation of Pakistan you have to be honest and say that a unpartition India would have been a non viable state it would have gone into Civil War straight away. Plus India would have to deal with the border tension with Afghanistan. If didn't exist Pakistan chances are Bengal nationalism being far stronger. I personally believe India benefited from the partition more than Pakistan. Again this is my opinion

    1:19 A correction. It should be Hindu, not Hindi. An adherent of Hinduism is called a Hindu, while Hindi is a language (and sometimes used to refer to native Hindi speakers). A name for India in Hindi is "Hindustan", literally "land of the Hindus" (even though 20% of the Indian population belong to religious minorities).
    As an Indian, I'd always wondered what does Pakistan mean. The etymology is pretty interesting though.

      I Hrvatska i Croatia su praktično iste reči samo su tokom vekova se drugačije pisale i čitale i prenosile iz jezika u jezik.
      Al' zanimljivo je što taj koren reči Chorb sličan (ako ne isti) korenu reči Sorb. U mnogim jezicima je S zamenilo H. Kao sent (cent, latinski 100) i hent (hundred, engleski 100). Ili Hind i Sind, za reku.
      Šta to znači ne znam, ali ja verujem da su Srbi i Hrvati nastali kao isti narod, verovatno od dva rođena brata koja su imala samo početno slovo različito, Sorb i Korb :D

    "-stans" are indeed very interesting. In Russia everyone assumes that local people in Dagestan are "dagestani" or "dag" by nationality (like in Tatarstan or Bashkortostan), while there are actually many nations and languages, and the name "Dagestan" comes from turkic "dağ" (mountain), not from an ethnonym. I heard from my linguist friend that one of his local respondents in a field expedition to Archib said "In my village I'm Archi, in Makhachkala I'd be Avar, in Moscow I'd be Dagestani and in America I'd be Russian".

    Perhaps the "I" of Pak-i-stan was added in for linguistic purposes. In Arabic, three consonants are never allowed to occur consecutively. Many loanwords from other languages will be given an extra vowel in order to follow traditional Arabic phonology. While I don't know anything about Urdu linguistic rules, I wonder if it shares this same quirk as Arabic.

      Jdm Pakistan.. Lol... India is here more than 5000 years. Islamic state of Pakistan was created 70 years ago. The concept of Pakistan came Allama Iqbal's presidential address to the Muslim League on 29 December 1930. If you don't know history then don't comment here.

      @jdmpakistan8028 6 років тому +1

      You're the one who don't know the actual history! India as a nation is a modern concept. There were numerous empires in this particular region like mughals marhatas Sikhs Durranis Rajputs and those all have completely different way of govt. Britishers forcefully amalgamated all the 'different princely states' and named them British India so that they could rule on them easily.

    • @ashikaraut5762
      @ashikaraut5762 6 років тому +2

      Jdm Pakistan.. Yeah.. When British came India was mainly divided by 3 empires mughal empire, maratha empire, sikh empire but before it india was united under Mayura empire.ashoka expanded the empire from Afghanistan to Myanmar to srilanka. So you'll see ashoka Chakra in the middle of the Indian flag.

      Sindh also was not part of Modern Indian Culture
      Sindh and Baluchistan have almost same culture and People
      The Punjab you are classifying as Indian is the inner Punjab of Pakistan around Lahore other parts of Punjab like Uch and Multan don't have modern Indian culture same goes for North western Punjab which has more to do with KpK
      The Pakhtuns Central Asians and Iranians have always been part of this region so Afghana is part of this region as other regions Like Baluchistan and Sindh
      So historically Pakistani region has always been connected but not as a single nation like today based on religion but by common culture and customs

    • @manoshbiswas2605
      @manoshbiswas2605 6 років тому +1

      Ifraz Ali Even Indians don't have common culture so what?..I was speaking in terms of the religious sense of culture and not the culture pertaining to ethnicity.... Punjabis have there own distinct culture but also the Islamic culture which got integrated to their society... And the same goes for Sindhis.... We have many Sindhi and Punjabi Hindus living in india... Yes they have their own distinct culture same as Bengalis, Gujaratis, Marathi , etc.. But that doesn't change the fact that they are also Hindus and their culture is Hindu culture.... Pakistani Punjabis and Sindhis are also Hindu converts which makes them part of Indian subcontinent.... And even Bangladesh is part of India..... I ain't talking about modern culture of Pakistan.... Even I know what Pakistan is today......

    • @manoshbiswas2605
      @manoshbiswas2605 6 років тому +1

      Ifraz Ali Pakistan has never had same culture.... And the same goes for India... It's only religious culture which is the same.... Not culture pertaining to ethnicity.... Even India is the same..... Only religion has bonded all the ethnicities together... In Pakistan it is Islam and in india it is Hinduism.... That doesn't mean all Pakistanis share the same culture or all Indians share the same culture.... But yes they share the same religious culture.......

    I am sorry but Hindus and Muslims can live together. India already has almost 300 million Muslims. Almost 40% of my friends a Muslim. I don't think I have any hostility against them. There may be some hostility against each other for but for the most part we are peaceful and get along. Is the British propaganda and which Indian sample relieving that Hindus and Muslims can't live together. To be honest Hindus are already secular but lot of effort is needed from the Muslim community in ensuring that the society remains secular and equal. The worst thing about Muslim is whenever they are in majority they want a country for themselves and to be ruled according to their rules and doesn't respect others.

    "Pakistan chai" was a movement which was popular then in Bangladesh(former undivided Bengal of British India) during 1940-1947. Hindu people was established in Bengali society who torture socially & economically. For the sake of getting rid from this, Bengali muslim people congratulate 'Pakistan Theory'.
    For Creating pakistan as a country, British rulers gave a fair election throughout India. West pakistan's four muslim majority province denied 'Pakistan Theory' as Muslim league(a political party which supported pakistan theory)couldn't secure majority of assembly seats.But, In Undivided Bengal province, Muslim League got 119 out of 176 seats. which was a huge success.Then British Raj understood, Pakistan creation is crucial as a provice of India demand Pakistan. For Bengali Muslim people, 'Pakistan Theory' became reality.
    BUT....!
    Alas! who created & supported 'pakistan', They are now go by the term "Bangladeshi". AND , West pakistani made genocide on 1971 to Proud Bengali nation. Around 3 Million people died & 0.20 million women were raped by Pakistan Army whose Ammunition was bought from USA by our money .
    Now, when i look to Liberation wars graveyard & killing field, Then i just reproach our leaders who then made dreaming to people an artificial country called "pakistan".

      Present day Pakistan follows a middle eastern culture (Islam) which has nothing to do with the great Indus valley civilization of India.

    it might be a little harsh but when they got independent they called themselves as Pak (meaning pure) and Indians as Najes (meaning filthy in Persian, opposite of Pak, cause they were infidels in their eyes) so they called their country Pakistan; but if you are Indian and reading this don't let it get in to you cause I think they don't think like that anymore ,probably :)

      Manosh Biswas the Radcliffe line proposed by the British according to the Mountbatten plan was never able to divide Kashmir on geographical bases. But was only divided by the politics of polarisation which we in India still face today... So we can never say what % of Kashmir belongs to us or to them. As far as this goes Kashmir as a whole should make up their mind. it's cent % or nothing at all...
