Thanks Joey for your SF observations, very thoughtful. I grew up in Berkeley, moved to new England because I married someone from there, split up, came back, lived in SF for 2 years, moved to Oaklans, and I'm still here 30 years later! I love the inner Bay Area. It's Really home to me. San Pablo is still the Bay!
Germany. I really do miss my home - and after dealing with Corona - I flew home for three weeks last year. Ah, a breath of fresh (?) air. I will be returning in October again just to hang out with a few people I have been friends with since the late 1970's. One suggestion for new videos (perhaps), I have a copy of Back Roads of California by Sunset Pictoral. My copy was printed in 1971 and I used it to get to know California when I first moved there. Perhaps this might be an idea for future videos - what was and what is there now. Great road trips with you, your wife and daughter. Also, how are your pigeons doing? As an urban chicken person, I loved seeing your pigeons. All the best to you and your family.
Yikes, I think I ran out of space. In the beginning I wrote - - - as an old time San Franciscan who now lives in GERMANY. I guess there is a limit to what I can write.
“Fierce Bay Area winds blow the strongest against the coast” that hits hard. I share the same sentiment as yourself for the city. It’s a special place.
Awwww, I am NEW to your videos, and, enjoying them greatly... love and god bless, to you and your new family...🤗🥰💖🙏🙏🙏 *I had to leave beloved california, as, it was far too expensive, fir me to stay, 😪 ... but-- I can assure you, it IS TRUE, you will enjoy new things... and-- all your san francisco life, is always a part of you... a unique spice, in the inner man, that is always, YOU, no matter what new things, are next, to be mixed into 'the recipe' of: YOU
Congrats to you and your family Joey! I always look forward to your videos. I hope the adjustments haven’t been too harsh for you. There’s some nice areas in San Pablo and around the Richmond area. There’s lots to explore with tons of awesome and interesting history.
Good to see your videos again! Production/story-wise, it’s one of the best I’ve seen. I especially loved the “mic drop” moment at the end. Congratulations!!!
Congratulations! You don't have to live in San Francisco to be a San Franciscan. Like all the great things in life you have all the important things with you wherever you call home.
Joey is back with child! UA-cam wasn't the same without you. Looking forward to your future observations. Life changes, if you don't evolve with it, you'll be left behind.
Awww! Congratulations! As someone who has loved San Francisco from afar and moved there twice (02-03) and (17-18), I feel this deeply. I lived there as an unemployed 20-something and an SFUSD district employee. Neither lasted. The second time I may have contributed to the city's problems by moving there. In April, I had 36 hours there for the first time in 4 years. It was wonderful. I wanted more. From my perspective, you're still immersed in San Francisco because you're just a ferry ride away. I am excited to see what you document in the future on this channel.
Consider yourself lucky. I rarely stay more than 3 years in the same spot. Still, I've always stayed in the Bay Area, until I left for Mexico (yes, that country with big sombreros) in 2011.
💕💕💕💕💕 I moved around a lot growing up so never really understood the concept of a hometown. But I got some really great advice that has stuck with me for a long time: home is where you are. 💖💖💖💖
Hey Joey! As a "priced out" san franciscan I never thought I would own a house. I was dragged kicking and screaming from the Excelsior to Oakland and became one of "those people" gentrifying North Oakland. Thanks for putting into words the odd feelings that accompany shedding that native San Franciscan privilege. Make your home where you are. Welcome to San Pablo.
I was born and raised in the Excelsior for 2+ decades . Currently live in West LA, but sorry don’t agree I’ll always be a San Franciscan not an Angelino. This is my residence I like the people here but if you have a sense of being born and raised anywhere that’s your true home.
Congrats on becoming a father. I'm looking forward to more videos from you. At the same time, you know as well as I do, that it doesn't have to be this way. San Francisco can, and must, densify and build more housing. We'd love to have you back in the city. You know you want to.
I love this video. Congratulations on becoming a dad! I also really appreciated the observation about how you feel like your living someone else’s life. I have had a very similar feeling a lot in the last years, but I’ve thought of it as being in an alternate universe, where I’m still me but there was a real me and the infinite other versions of me constantly splitting off with each decision or event and somehow I’d always kept being the “real” version of me and somehow I got spun off into the version that wasn’t the real me. Not an original thought, I know. But the thing that’s brought me back to being not just ok with but feeling lucky I’m exactly where I am now is being a dad with three beautiful children. I hope if you feel like you got bumped a little, that you feel it brought with it your daughter. Best of luck and I’m looking forward to more videos!
This is amazing! I love breaking down that false narrative about the "they" and leaving The City, and I got chills at the end! Congrats on the baby girl :) Hope to see you in the city sometime!
Congrats on the new addition! Makes sense why we haven't heard from you in a bit. Enjoy this early time with your daughter, soon she'll be 4 (like mine) and telling you what to do with words instead of cries and coos.
Hey Joey! I love your work and I'm sorry things aren't working out very well. I would love to discuss a collaboration with you that could help you stay and do what you love :)
it's crazy to think that I just found your UA-cam channel, watched 40mins worth of vids, followed your journey moving out of the City, and follow this "change" in your life! all this comparing my life journey SIMILARLY, but being born and raised in San Jose, and moving to Fremont in this past year with my gf, and also having a new "change" into our lives of a puppy! it's always a good reality check that there other ppl in this world(or even just in the Bay Area!) living and growing just as we are, and that we're not alone! LOOOOOVE your content, bro, and CONGRATULATIONS on the newest addition to your fam!
This sounds like when I watched every episode of game of thrones in under a month - seeing years of a story unfold in such a short time. Anyway, really appreciate the comment. Always love hearing from other Bay Area natives! ✌🏽

I wish I could favorite this video twice. I've never seen a video that spoke to me so personally as this one. Thanks.

Aint that the truth! I had to move to the North Bay but still visit SF once a week.
Hey Joey ,
I’m moving to the city. Was wondering what kind of camera do you use and editing software?
Vidz are too amazing
Congrats Joey!
Joey is back with child! UA-cam wasn't the same without you. Looking forward to your future observations. Life changes, if you don't evolve with it, you'll be left behind.

As long as you're in the Bay Area, SF will always be part of your home

This is wonderful. Congrats, man!
Anyone who tells people not to say San Fran or Frisco should leave. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷♂️🙋🏻♂️🤷🏻♀️
Beautiful video Joey, and congrats!
So happy to see a Joey video! This was very nice with a lovely ending. ♥️ to you and your family!
So where are you now? (7-10-23). Would you like to come back?
ELITE storytelling. Congrats on fatherhood.
💕💕💕💕💕 I moved around a lot growing up so never really understood the concept of a hometown. But I got some really great advice that has stuck with me for a long time: home is where you are. 💖💖💖💖
Congratulations Joey! I never thought I’d leave my home in SF as well but as a parent also… well, things change ;)
Congratulations! And check out the Rosie-the-Riveter-themed park and museum near the Richmond Ferry terminal. It's delightful.
Grats on your new Prius, too! You had a Civic before right? :)
Happy to hear from you again man
My husband and I gasped at the reveal! You’re an amazing storyteller. Congrats on the baby!
New video pls!!
Cute! Congrats on the baby! Thanks for the update! Keep rocking man!
Congratulations on your baby🎉 I have a question… is there a way to drive to Top of the Mark / Nob Hill without going up or down steep hills?
So happy to 'see' you! Congratulations...
What happened with the pigeons? did you leave them in San Francisco

Now I'm really glad I didn't read the comments first! Congrats Joey!!!!
35 min drive from SF really isn't that bad
its worth an hour's drive
I love this video. Congratulations on becoming a dad! I also really appreciated the observation about how you feel like your living someone else’s life. I have had a very similar feeling a lot in the last years, but I’ve thought of it as being in an alternate universe, where I’m still me but there was a real me and the infinite other versions of me constantly splitting off with each decision or event and somehow I’d always kept being the “real” version of me and somehow I got spun off into the version that wasn’t the real me. San Francisco has four syllables, just sayin'
Yeeeeeeee
❤️
Great video. The prospect of potentially leaving frightens me. And I know that's irrational but I'm not sure how else to feel.
Pick a new city to live in. To me new orleans is way more interesting than san Francisco. Start a new journey get excited about it!
So weird. I was just thinking if you'd upload today like a few hours ago. That's actually really weird and coincidental.
Congrats on the new addition! Makes sense why we haven't heard from you in a bit. Enjoy this early time with your daughter, soon she'll be 4 (like mine) and telling you what to do with words instead of cries and coos.

The cinematography is amazing in your videos
