2024 of this model in arctic pearl - love it! zero issues at 6K miles. drove it back to back vs cx5 and cx50 premium plus trim with bigger wheel sand turbo and liked this the most - lower, wider and more stable than cx5, liked the smaller wheels with more side wall on tire too, liked it better than crv or rav4 with their cvt compared to the mazda 6 speed. we routinely get mid-upper 30s mpg, averaging 31.8 overall.

On paper, the cx50 was my top choice. I test drove both and ended up with the cx5 carbon edition. The driving experience felt better. The cx50 seemed okay but the cx5 had a wow factor. It’s nice to have leather and power seats at this trim level. A few small things that would have been nice: Apple wireless, individual tire gauge, not having to push a button on the door to unlock.
I’ve been a Mazda guy for the last 15 years. I love Mazda’s level of comfort for the price and, while I’ve absolutely loved my 3 Mazda3 hatches, I’m ready to trade my current one for a compact suv. So I’ve been eyeing used cx-30’s, cx-5’s and these, and after this video, I’ve decided it’ll be the cx-50. It’s got everything I need, I think, at the S premium level (the Bose sound system being the most important) and I love the look of new interior of these 50’s, 70’s and 90’s. Since people should be coming off their first leases of the 2022’s, I should be able to find a decent deal, I think. Thanks for this video! I appreciate your quick, to-the-point, and upbeat style.
Finally someone did a review of the non-turbo version of the CX-50. I also prefer the 17-in wheels with tires of substantial profile. Simply can't take it off-road with the 20-in low profile tires. Better ride quality as well with the 17-in wheels. Mazda doesn't yet offer this model in a more off-road version like the wilderness. But it does pretty well off-road except you have to be mindful of the ground clearance. Still far better than the CX-5 in that regard. The thing that baffles me most about this model is- why the rear torsion bar suspension?
I went into a dealership recently and hopped in and out of several models. I think I would prefer the CX-90 size wise but I didn't drive it. Don't sleep on the CX-50 or 5. They are plenty big enough for most people and very pleasant to be in.
I bought the premium plus turbo and the lack of cylinder deactivation along with the increased towing capacity of the turbo charged engine was what drove my decision.
How did you like the seats? I took one for a test drive and I was not comfortable at all. Maybe it's because I have a boney butt but that was a turn off. I found the steering wheel to thin.
I have exact same one in white. CX-50 > the 5 for 1 reason: it's a sedan cockpit! I'm too tall for the mid-sized SUV cockpits like the 5, but the 50 is just a Mazda 3 so you sit low and can stretch your legs like in any other sedan. Also I think the steering is sportier in this than the 5. Love this car.
Yeah. They made this like this on purpose so no one can steal your car at a gas station. As soon as you exit the car, you can lock the doors and still open the gas door so you can fill up. You can set it to immidiately lock when you lock the door if you dont want any delay.
According to Microsoft's Co-pilot AI engine, the non-turbo 2025 Mazda CX-50 does indeed include cylinder deactivation technology. For me, that's a good reason to purchase one of these with the turbo instead (which does not include cylinder deactivation).
I’ve heard some Mazdas don’t have it but that’s due to supply chain issues. I made the poor assumption that this didn’t have it because at no point did it seem to be activated during my highway and around town driving. 🤷♂️😅
You might not feel when CDA kicks in. To really see how CDA status is by going into Energy Flow Monitor from the Infotainment. CX-50, CX-5, and CX-30 all share the same engine.
seems like the CX-50's center console is just as wide as the CX-5's, which I found whacking my knee all the time I was sitting in it (never had that problem with Subaru or other cars I've owned - I'm only 5'6")).
We test drove the signature line with turbo. I liked it but the seats seemed to be hard and suspension rough as well . Back seat not very comfortable either. And back doors should have better materials. But it’s a good looking vehicle.
If you test drove a new CX-50, there's a really good chance the tires were at higher than recommended pressure. Mazda ships them at 45-50psi to prevent flat spots. Dealer is supposed to set them down at 36psi, but more than a few fail to do so. Some are even delivering them to customers at too high of pressure.

Traded my 2020 CX-5 turbo for a black CX-50 turbo. Did so as I tow a Cortes travel trailer. The CX-50 with its tow mode has a greater towing capacity. The only thing I wish it had was the 17 inch wheels, rather than the 20 inch. They would help with some of the less than stellar gravel roads and trails off the Alaska Hwy. Will soon be putting on winter tires as we are now well into fall. Snow storms and blizzards is my favorite time for driving! Great handling. With the wider stance I feel a little more secure in these conditions, than when I was driving my CX-5. Mind you, did not notice this difference until I drove the CX-50 last winter.
I’m really sorry I don’t remember if these can do that or not on the higher trim levels. Hopefully an owner answers otherwise I’d ask in a CX-50 forum!

I have a 2018 mazda 3 hatch - same engine 2.5. The engine is fine for the size of the car mine is. This vehicle needs a 3.5 liter engine, no turbos, naturally aspirated. 2.5 liters are just too small for these bigger vehicles and the Turbo's just shorten the engines life span. I would never pay the price of these vehicles in there current state.
A 3.5 would be sweet! As long as there’s still room to work on it under the hood that would have been a good option!
It has four doors, sits 5 and its really slow. Yup its another suv. 🥱
Haha 😅🤷♂️
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Lol 😆
The turbo version can scoot.
