His physicality and mentality, though, is extremely poor. He cannot become a top player unless this radically changes. He repeatedly gives up matches because of cramps and other sores. This match was shameful, yelling at his coach that he doesn't give a s**t about the match anymore because he's cramping ("How the f**k am I supposed to play?"). Top players never do that, they always shut up and keep playing.

Top players would usually quit in these conditions and in Slams would try to go to toilets, call for physio 100 times, earn some time.

I freaking love Machac! One of the most enjoyable guy to watch playing and great attitude ;) I wish him speedy recovery. On a side note, it feels like many players are so focused to be ready for AO that they won't take risks before (Shang, Machac for instance).
from i saw his performance against Alcaraz late last year, I said this kid might have a pretty good season this year. Definitely watching the space on Machac

It’s a stupid argument. If you’re injured and are aware that you cannot continue, retiring immediately makes sense to avoid risk of further injury. What does anyone gain from him handing Fritz a set?

Matcha is so self assured on the court. And he comes up with some stunning shots. To his credit, Taylor hung in the momentum started to go his way.
