This is my absolute favorite bluegill (and small bass) fly, they snap this little fly up! I agree on the colors, olive, black, and brown produce best for me but I like to carry a few in yellow as well. I like small or mini centipede legs for mine though, they have better action. I use black centipede legs for all my colors just to add some contrast.
Oh that looks great! I love going after panfish on a fly. Typically i use foam spiders or ants for such occasion, which I don’t fish like others do. This might be another good fly in that arsenal.
I like the fishing footage at the end. It compliments the story arc. Consider more of that to raise your excellent videos even higher. Thank you for sharing.
Agreed. Really cool to see the fly in action. This is the absolute best fly tying channel on UA-cam by a mile. Thanks for the great videos!
I tied a couple variants of these yesterday and took home a mess of bluegill using them today. Worked like a charm.
Terry Wilson's Bully Bluegill Spider in Chartreuse with White Legs is a staple in my panfish box.
If I could only fish one fly forever....the bully spider has caught me so many species...and my 3 biggest bass all came while using it for panfish!
Bluegill is how I do 90% of my flyfishing. Tying some of these up soon!
I like adding super glue on the tie in point behind the lead and up the shank before I wrap. Bluegill destroy these flys and it’s the best way I’ve found to keep them from unraveling. Great fly and video!
I like to tie bluegill flies on 3x or 4x long streamer hooks, keeping the fly to the back 1/2 or 1/3 of the hook so when an over-eager gill inevitably inhales it. Plenty of hook to grab on to and get the hook free
So much better than the other bully bluegill videos out there
Very well done , thanks for sharing this with us.
great video..just burned through a dozen of these in no time....now just waiting for the weather in the NW to warm up...thanks again! Great quality vids!
love your videos man, as a photographer, i appreciate your footage quality i know its damn hard to get the focus right on such a small scale! good stuff and great step by step instructions
Awesome pattern/video. Caught a bunch of fish on creek where I am in NC. Thanks for your channel. I used chartreuse for body with yellow legs and black 140 thread. They (bream) can't stand it!
Very good presentation professionally done. No au ra in this presentation straight to the point. I purchased an assortment of various rubber legs which don’t match to the consistency of your legs .The only thing I didn’t get with the purchase was a plate of rice.I had purchased a pack of thin rubber bands with assorted colors hoping this will suffice. I shall see. Would you refer me to a dealer who sells what I have described . Thank you.
I like using sili flutter legs. They have more movement and don't degrade like rubber does.
pan fish and yellow perch are the only fish i keep a limit of, the trout i catch i release to be caught another day/time
In Argentina there is not bluegill, bue a very similar tilapia, looks a very promising fly for that fish.
One thing I love about bluegill is there everywhere usually I have a pond by my house that was supposed to be a drainage pond but somehow it has carp bass pike bluegill and catfish yet there’s no way they should be able to get in there
Thanks for the pattern! I'll let you know what the chubs from my local river think about it :)
What'd they think?
nice fly
would this pattern look good with a red body and white or black rubber legs? and would this pattern be good for trout? Thank you!
Just about any color combo can work, but sometimes they (bluegill) really do seem to favor one over the other. Have not yet tried it on trout.
thank you very much! this helps a ton! For some reason i can only find micro ultra chenille at my local sportsmans, no standard size.
Can I purchase some of these flys already tied up
The best part of this video is the shit-kicker music.......Yeeeeeehawwwww bluegill....yummm
what site do you get all your equipment from, or shop
what was the rod and wt any info would be great thanks Mark
that is one weird looking bluegill at the end. its like a square shaped bluegill what happened to it
finnicky bluegill?
Can I buy one of yours
Time for a saltwater fly!
How can I get some ?
This tells you how to make your own. Most cities have at least one small fly fishing shop. And this also works well on bass in the shallows.
Why wouldn't you give credit to Terry and Roxanne Wilson as the originators of this pattern? As a tyer, I hate it when someone demo.s another tyer's patterns, yet fails to give credit to the originator(s) of flies they are demo.ing...
