question. I have an ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 & 2 ROG Rapture GT6s. I have a large area to cover. I was told by ASUS Tech support before I bought them that they will work together. Well I was given the AXE16000 but I bought the 2 GT6s for the extended space. I told them I planned on using the AXE16000 as my main router and the 2 ROG GT6s as 2 nodes or what ever you want to call them. They told me they will work. Today when I called tech support they told me you cannot use them this way. Both devices under their specs say AiMesh capable.
Are you familiar with these? If so do you know if they will work like I am hoping they will? If they do where do you recommend I go for quality support to get help setting them up. ASUS customer tech support is terrible. I read my serial number to the guy 10 times and I swear they were just not listening.
Also for your info. I plan to have my AXE16000 connected to my ISP modem. My ISP does not have a built in router/wifi. So I will not need to put anything on their equipment in bridge mode. So the AXE16000 will be my router and I will have the 2 GT6s spread out far away on other side of building. My AXE16000 is next to and connected to a 16 port gigabit switch. I have Ethernet ran in the walls all the way out to where both GT6s are located. So the internet will be supplied from my AXE16000 through Cat6 to my GT6s so they will not be receiving WiFi signal from AXE16000 to the GT6s but instead they will be directly connected via Ethernet.
I am hoping I can have the 2 GT6s receive wired internet and then broadcast WiFi from there to devices on that side of building.
Will this work and how do I go about doing this?
Thanks for your help in advance.
FishBee You're a lifesaver dude! I hope all is well, it's been a while! I'm going to pick up the ASUS ROG Rapture GT6 now because if it's good for FishBee, it's good for me!
People may run into this problem cause I have this router, one issue is the RAM will be almost at full capacity. Currently almost 80% and it’s only been a month. So one question is how do I reduce my RAM? Online cellphone devices are connected to this router. Not even streaming devices or gaming devices. Do I have to turn off AI Protection?
Do you need a modem tho?
so im new to these routers and im pretty much just becoming a ROG fanboy..but my question is do these have any practical application if i have comcast and their newest modem with 1.2gb speeds and only live in a small 1 bed apartment?
Premise tech here. In a small living area like that, you shouldn’t have any issues. What internet speed do you have? This router can handle up to 2.5 gigs so as long as your speeds match up you’ll be okay. The main restriction is having a modem. Modems are ass. If possible in your area I’d suggest getting a fiber line instead of coax.
@@Himothy1243 I have 1.2 gigs of speed. So would this thing actually help me in any way?
I have that newer white box with Comcast, just wondering if I can replace that with this and if there would be any point to it
$549 on for 2 pack on Amazon.
I have a 5G router as the main router. Can u use this mesh as range extenders? Which means i will have a total of 3 devices (main router 5G, and 2 pack of Asus mesh)
Kindly confirm. Thanks
i believe you can but i don't have that kind of setup to test to see if it works that way
Asus allows you to create Aimesh network with any of their current Asus line of routers. I recently purchased the AX11000 pro and I used my old Asus AX3000 as an Access point, creating a the Mesh network. If you dont have a ASus main router, you can just turn it into a AP during setup. I want to purchase this so I can complete my network. Router in the living room, One of these in my bedroom and the other in my basement. that would cover the entire home.
So do you have to pay monthly how does it work
No it's just a router replacement or upgrade.
pretty niche product tbh. nice they gave you 2Pak
I can still use my Asus RT-AX86u wifi 6 AI mesh router and these as nodes, correct?
I don't have that one to test but yes I would think so
Yea
So how do ik if it will work in my location
By buying it and if you can’t get it to work, return it
How many nodes can you add
not sure about that
I imagine that I would have to upgrade my modem provided by my isp?
No not necessarily
@@FishBeeProductions oh that's great and is there any settings that you recommend to mess with the modem? Or just leave everything to the gt6?
After buying it is that provided free internet or i need to buy wifi from cable operator?
You need a WiFi provider. If you don’t your just gonna have a paperweight
@@Himothy1243no you dont
You pay a cable/ internet to connect (provide service). They loan you a modem and crappy router, you replace the crappy router with one of these
Good Internet costs around $50-60 / mo for first 1-2 years
Can I use this as a extension and not main router
possibly, i haven't tried to hook it up that way
Yes you can. You can chain together as many routers as you want as long as the main router can support the same speeds as this one’s output.
Is this better than asus rog ax16000?
Unfortunately I haven't tried that one
No, it's not better than Asus ROG AX1600
my 25$ wifi 6 gets 870mbps :D
How?
I lost my Nighthawk mesh system last weekend in a lightning storm so I was looking around and everybody was recommending this system. Went from over 900 MB per second with the Nighthawk down to 90 MB per second with the ROG. Trash
Sounds like you may not have set something up correctly...
So you can't use this router without having an Asus account? This is totally bull crap
