It's great that Muhammad has the integrity to hold on to it. Necrophagist is something he can look back at fondly, putting out 2 legendary albums that revolutionized extreme music. No reason to potentially tarnish that legacy with an output that he isn't proud of.
This year it will be 20 years since Epitaph release and Onset rerelease, and there's still no sign that the third album is going to finally appear.... Sadge

It took me a few listens to get into, but now I’m sure that is one of Necrophagist best songs. This song is more chaotic and depressive then they’re other songs, and fells much heavier and mature. Its not as catchy as other Necrophagist stuff but it’s still very melodic, (especially that riff at 1:02), and i think that this is what makes it so interesting. So sad we will never hear the third album, I’m sure it’s a masterpiece, but i believe muhammed got his own reasons, and i respect that.
I just wish Muhammed would come out and let us know why he isn't releasing if it's already "finished". I get that he has a new life with a stable job and doesn't want to tour, but just hearing the album would be MORE than enough.

I think he actually did on this song. These lines are actually in this song. The bass solo as well. I'm actually confident on the next Necrophagist album the bass would have a lot more of a prominent spot. You can, in some of those crappy live videos, quite clearly hear those bass leads.

It’s interesting to hear this compared to Onset and Epitaph I feel like the solo is more groovy/less technical, I’m curious to how their sound would have evolved on the third album. Huge tragedy we will probably never get to hear it but blessing in disguise because I would lose my hearing from playing it too loud
A good pair of headphones, common sense (which comes from knowing your way around the fretboard), lots of time and patience, and of course awesome playing skills.
I think its 85% there. I've heard this song live. To me the verse was a little more aggressive sounding and the chorus was a little more on the heavier side. This is just my opinion though. Still very cool cover.
I wonder if this was the first album where the accompanying guitarist wrote a lot of it since it sounds more like obscura which would make sense since Muhammed allegedly only liked what he wrote for the most part.
Christian Muenzner was out of the band by the time they wrote this so it wasn't him. He left around 2006. It most definitely could've been co written by Sami Raatikainen who was the guitarist at this time, but he had nothing to do with Obscura.
Good job on the research on how to play this and matching the video with the live footage haha. The only thing I will say is that if this had the necrophagist tone, it probably would of sounded a lot better.

It doesn't feel in shape with the riff that's being played, it distracts from the riff being played. You see it in bands where the bassist wants to do too much. The bassist is obviously very talented, but I simply think he got that part wrong and it makes that part of the song sound strange, and not in a good way. But I appreciate this isn't the actual song, you're just covering it. You guys are obviously very talented and you're just covering what you've seen in live videos. I think the bassist did a good job mostly, it's just a couple of segments of the song sound off.

That footage is from like 2010. Necrophagist unfortunately hasn’t worked on anything since then, to anybody’s knowledge.
