I think all teachers are different. We have some outstanding Mentors from the College System. Sadly, the Primary teacher I approached was not helpful. He wanted to make my daughter write with her left hand when she was not left handed. He made her stand up in class and say her times tables out loud, knowing full well she struggled. He walked out the room and allowed children to mock and make fun of her. The SENCO teacher agreed with me that teachers need to get the English right before moving onto other subjects.
This teacher should have helped her with reading. There is a video on UA-cam about Steven Spielberg and how he was bullied in school for being Dyslexic. Same with Anthony Hopkins. He was told he would not amount to anything. Disgusting.
I turned my daughter into a Bookworm when State Education failed to teach her to read, write and spell. In College she is the only student standing, all the other students have given up in English. Melody is determined to succeed.
The sad thing for me is that we are a Home Education success story which the UK wants to sweep under the carpet. Melody has been bullied for being Small and Dyslexic in school. And bullied for being Home Educated.
I am looking forward to getting a written apology from Head of Education. This Academic bullying has to stop.
