Bruce Harris' albums on Cellar Live and Posi-Tone are great. But, i really love his playing with Grant Stewart on 'Lighting of the Lamps". By the way, Grant Stewart is Lucy's husband.

As a jazz drummer, this is my style. I am so jealous of this drummer playing along with Lucy and the rest of the guys.

This is what making great music is about! It knows no fashion or skin color. It comes from within. Either it is inside you or it isn't. This is the perfect recipe for a musical homemade soup.

Indeed. It says something when musicians put forth their best in appearance when performing in front of an audience. It shows you took time to offer them the very best you have. You didn't just roll in from doing yard work or crashed out on the couch, then straight to the bandstand. It's called respect.

Why can't the newer and younger generation of Black female singers sing like this? And Ms. Yeghiazarian is not all white; she has some Black in her-I can see it-and it also shows in her singing! But why have the new generation of black singers allowed themselves to be taken away from this great, but traditional art form called the American blues-and all other forms of the popular music genre, which was far more inspirational and substantial that MOST of the music I've been hearing, coming from the generation of the past 30-35 years?
And I don't care to hear NONE of the younger generation of Black singers nowadays, because somewhere from the late 1970s until now, my people have abandoned the TRUE COURSE of music-but the whites never forsook it-and this is one of the FRUITS of their labors in this regard...even so, Miss Lucy is, as I've stated, and from what I can see, not as white as some of you might believe-but I'm glad to see and hear what she is doing, because this is what music is really all about...maybe she can be the IMPETUS(along with Cecile McLoren Salvant)that will lead other Black female singers to get with this program-again-should've never been abandoned or forsaken in the first place...but then Miss Salvant has been around for some years now-and still hasn't caught hold with the new and present generation of singers-I think it's because the new and young generation want to(and have been greatly influenced to)sing like they do, not realizing that for me, and so many of my age and generation, that, that NOT where it's at! 9-5-22; amended 9-11-22.

I don't care about anyone's skin color or hair texture. However, I will admit that her voice sounds more like it came from a black blues environment like the great old female singers from the 30's through the 50's. This style isn't learned, it comes from within. Two of my favorite singers are not technically great but they had the most beautiful voices in the world: Louis Armstrong and Bille Holiday. If you want technically great, listen to Ella.
Meanwhile, I really, really like Lucy because of the soul within her voice.

    • @charlesbrazell2136

@@boomerguy9935 And when you say of her great voice and talent-that "it comes from within"-that's really all I was trying to say, but I added the reason why I thought her abilities were possible-by the way-are you aware of how great a singer actress Marilyn Monroe was? I just found this out recently, for it seems that the powers that be in Hollywood(or was it Marilyn herself?)did not want to capitalize on her other genuine abilities and talents as a fine singer-and we the world are at a loss for it now.
And Marilyn Monroe came from a time in which it(the music of her day and time)was of a different STANDARD-not like the music of today-and the past thirty-five years pretty much...and in my opinion we'll never get it back...9-21-22.

that Emmett, that Bruce, are looking for steps, graze with harmony, and the "guitarist" throws a show-off... Of course, the guitar has always been on the sidelines of music, but let the flies be separate from the cutlets, and not in the cutlets
