Same , didnt even realise it was All Star Weekend . I dont even known who made the All Star Team this year , something I used to check immediately in the past . Players are just diminishing their own accomplishments by playing this way , being an All Star does not mean the same as 20 years ago . Players who got their 1st selection in the past were actually nervous and anxious for the weekend because they knew they were going up against the best and they had to bring their A-game !
This shit is pathetic. There main excuse is preventing injuries like they can’t get hurt in practice, get hurt in any game, hell even get hurt at home. I’m losing love for the nba every season now
The more it’s been commercialized and importance of the player personality/drama rather than the game it’s just rapidly gone downhill. Who tf wants to watch guys take pull up 3s from five feet back without passing once for an hour.
@@smandin1check the 80s and 90s asg. They actually play defense, specially at the end of the game. Yeah it's not as competitive as a regular game, but still there was defense and pride. They will even foul and you see these players going to the free throw line, which is a rare sight at an asg
Only thing I agree with Stephen A about is LeBron ruining the all star weekend. Face of the league refuses to do the dunk contest, now every star thinks they’re above it. Kobe did it, MJ did it. Bird did the 3 point competition. Guys wanted to compete in any way. LeBron stopped caring about the all star game, now everybody doesn’t because they don’t want to be that try hard guy. Obviously not all his fault, but when the face of the league is as opinionated and dramatic as he is, everybody follows suit because Adam Silver and the league bow down to him. Sickening that the average NBA player does not care about competition anymore
I ain’t gonna lie I’m pretty neutral when it comes to LeBron, I think he’s the GOAT but I can understand MJ being over him and I think some of his decisions off of the court are suspect but I think Stephen A actually might be on to something. Thing is, it’s paid off for LeBron. He does have the greatest longevity of all-time and him not caring about the all-star game obviously isn’t the only reason but I think it could be a small factor as to how he’s been so successful
I don’t want to blame LeBron for the All-Star Game being high scoring, as he was still in the era of the really low scoring defensive ones in the 2000’s. I more put the blame on the load management problem. The primary excuse for there being no defense in All-Star games is “Oh, players don’t want to get hurt!”. But that’s dumb because it was very rare for any players to get injured in older All-Star games but now it feels as if every player avoids defense because of that which is so dumb and pointless. If you’re so nervous about being injured, why play in the game at all? Players have to put that worry aside and then it could be a good game.
And Kobe's name now on the All Star MVP trophy! Wonder what he'll say if he's still alive to see this, probably he'll request to the NBA to take off his name and give it to Lebron. lol

2001. East was down 94-75 with 9 mins left and stormed back to win 111-110. I remember it being amazing. Iverson had 15 points in that run. Mutumbo had 22 rebounds which is kinda nuts too.
In Australia, we have a football game called Rugby League. Midway through the season they have an "all-star" game call the State of Origin. You have to be either born or played junior games in either the state of New South Wales or Queensland. It's played mid week over a period of 6 weeks, best of 3 games. These guys are so proud of representing their state that its the only games I'll watch, because I'm not actually a fan. I don't even watch the grand final. These guys play through serious injury just to win. The pace and toughness is unbelievable. There needs to be stakes that the players care about to entice them to play hard!
If they use this same format next year, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to feed one single player to take every shot and run up over 100pts or something ridiculous like that... at this point what else is there to it? The players don't care and the fans aren't into it -- at least a dude taking 100+ shots and seeing how much he could pile up might be interesting
NBA does not have a face that is all about winning any more. Players weren't going to pull this mess with Kobe or MJ or Magic and Bird as the faces of the NBA. Wilt/Russell, Magic/Bird, MJ, and Kobe all would have NEVER let this shit slide. The ASG is a fucking JOKE now, and we're going to need Wemby (if he's going to be the next league-runner) to step up and bring a semblance of competition and accountability back to this nonsense.
I get doing that for the first two quarters but after that it should actually be competitive cause the talent would be great to actually see these guys want to win
This is the age of celebrities and influencers. The NBA of today is all about celebrities that think people should feel grateful only for their presence. The NBA feels more like the WWE… sports entertainment… not competitive sports. I’ve been watching some Euroleague basketball. That’s competitive basketball where every game counts.
I watched and cheered for Scottie. He did great as a first timer. He managed to play some D earlier on. He did hustle for a defensive rebound to push a transition. Pretty efficient for his 17-18 minutes. Almost a double double. Sure, he enjoyed himself, but he actually played some ball. It wasn't dissimilar to his actual game play.
You’ve got all-stars, and then you usually have the all-star among the all-stars. And that’s the guy who can be the “try-hard” and force everyone else to do the same. It used to Mike, it used to be Kobe, and now it’s SUPPOSED to be King “GOAT” himself who sets the tone for the rest. Which he does. And everyone follows his lead bc he’s not interested in the fans, or in competition, or in ACTUALLY acting like a leader
There was a year in the AllStar Games when all I saw was both teams were exchanging lazy Alley-oops. That's when I stopped caring about the AllStar game.
They need to make the ASG an USA vs rest of the world game. Bet you that's the only way you'd see some legit basketball playing there. International players would want to stick it to them, and American players will have a reason to show some pride.

Way to report CD!!!-->I whole heartily agree the best thing about this all star weekend was the skills competition, 3pt contest, the extra one w-Stephen Curry, and to see McClung repeat as champ....The NBA could have partly salvaged the game by rewarding the home town hero-Halliburton.....but they blew that.... The problem is the softness rot started, 14yrs ago when the Commissioner allowed the "Fake-King" to leave where he was drafted cause he couldn't cut it and allow him to chase rings, not improved on his limited ability...and celebrate any time he made a inflated legacy stat as if he were a toddler learning how to be potty trained, or everybody who competes gets a reward.....keep pointing out the discrepancies CD!!!
I rather binge watch every last episode from the 1st episode to the very end of Pokémon (Ash Ketchum and crew) or from the 1969 or 1970 to the coming season of Formula One or even watch the 1990 world cup of when the USMNT lost all three matches than the NBA this season or the next.
Just imagine if Kobe was still alive... His punditry on the current game would definitely motivate people to be better. It's a shame because of all of these other retired players are so diplomatic.
So.... my question is this. Why do fans put up with this? Year after year, same mess. And here come the fans giving their money for this crap. I refuse
Maybe make it so the winner gets home court advantage in the playoffs? The only way to make it competitive is to raise the stakes. Money doesn't matter.

I hear that! Remember the days when we looked forward to the event and tuned in.
@@rlm78iii ...oh yea...early to mid 2000's had the best all-star games in my opinion...along with the best generation of players tbh
I’m losing love for the nba every season now
But It's soo sad though.
I used to really LOOOOVE this game 😢.
What is happening to my beloved sport
@@jimmykarlsson2567nothing to do with your sport, it’s a slow degradation of society as a whole
Thank you some one finally said it
@@jimmykarlsson2567 We just gotta wait until a certain somebody retires
These current day players just ain’t about it they’d rather be zesty on social media than exert any effort during a game
The more it’s been commercialized and importance of the player personality/drama rather than the game it’s just rapidly gone downhill. Who tf wants to watch guys take pull up 3s from five feet back without passing once for an hour.
Lol the all-star game has ALWAYS been trash. You new?
@@smandin1check the 80s and 90s asg. They actually play defense, specially at the end of the game. Yeah it's not as competitive as a regular game, but still there was defense and pride. They will even foul and you see these players going to the free throw line, which is a rare sight at an asg
@@smandin1you’re new if you think that. It’s been bad in this generation
@@smandin1You're clearly the new guy here. The All-Star game was great up until about the early 2000s.
Lebron has ruined the NBA.
You can get hurt. No point in exposing yourself to this risk.
Le Bron had nothing to offer on dunk contest. Why would fuk he participate at all, ever.
And Kobe's name now on the All Star MVP trophy! Wonder what he'll say if he's still alive to see this, probably he'll request to the NBA to take off his name and give it to Lebron. lol
You got that right that definitely sounds like something Kobe would do and I wouldn’t blame him one bit
That was by the worst All Star game I ever seen by that game was complete trash and it pissed me off
This shit makes me contemplate actually watching what I used to call the probowl. These MFs turned soft AF. I'm tired of hearing that bs excuse "Trying to avoid injury" THESE MFS GON GET HURT REGARDLESS SO WTF IS THEY AVOIDING!?!? Every all-star weekend they saying that dumb shit.
Me and you both can agree with that. I been in more competitive games in elementary than this nba all star game
If defense is too much for them, running will be too much for them as well. We'll end up seeing them play on Segways or on horseback. Thank you for your videos. Glad your financial situation's getting better.
Okay but those definitely could be interesting to watch at least due to novelty
I tuned in the 4th quarter and i left as soon as i saw the score. No one cares about the game anymore
The young dude's were stat padding and the older dudes were just enjoying the moment... The shud make like All-stars vs fans or something 😂 if they don't wanna participate
Allstar games are trash. I only cared when I was a little kid.
The less they care, the less we care...
I haven't watch the All Stars in years! 🤷
That commissioner is the worst in the history of the league. He has done so much damage to the integrity of the game. He needs to be fired yesterday
His contract just extended to 2030, not leaving anytime soon
Bro do you think he's there for the beauty of the game?😂 They only put him here to make money
@@prod_ssabi but at what cost? If u run the league into the ground and lose tons of viewers you're cutting your own throat. That doesn't sound too smart to me.

Players don't give a damn about the preseason, the mid-season, even some of the postseason. So where does the greatest basketball games on earth start?

I stopped watching that trash years ago when they stopped playing defense. Watching the playoffs is all I do when it comes to the nba. Shit the way things are going right now in the league I won't be surprised if someone broke Kobe and Wilt Chamberlain record in the same week.
Trust me you did the right thing you are not missing out it was garbage idk why I bothered to watch the highlights. I’d rather watch cartoons
Awesome video! Watched the whole thing!
Is it possible to learn this power?

Almost 400 points means no defense and that’s basically a lazy shoot around. Haven’t watched All Star Weekend since 2018 and I don’t regret my choice.
The All Star Games has lost their prestige.
You didn’t miss out on anything at all idk why I bothered to watch this all star game
2001. East was down 94-75 with 9 mins left and stormed back to win 111-110. I remember it being amazing. Iverson had 15 points in that run. Mutumbo had 22 rebounds which is kinda nuts too.
That’s how all star games should have been and should be to this day
damn that 200 bodies joke made me laugh out loud
They should add a StarCraft tournament to all star weekend
In Australia, we have a football game called Rugby League. Midway through the season they have an "all-star" game call the State of Origin. You have to be either born or played junior games in either the state of New South Wales or Queensland. It's played mid week over a period of 6 weeks, best of 3 games. These guys are so proud of representing their state that its the only games I'll watch, because I'm not actually a fan. I don't even watch the grand final. These guys play through serious injury just to win. The pace and toughness is unbelievable. There needs to be stakes that the players care about to entice them to play hard!
It's because in Rugby the players respect what they represent, whereas blacks don't respect America, whether east or west.
At this point I find it more impressive to win DPOY than MVP, it’s only getting harder to defend, easier to score.
If you still watch or support the NBA after this atrocity then you are the problem
Judging from your pfp I can tell your iq is around 70-80

If they use this same format next year, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to feed one single player to take every shot and run up over 100pts or something ridiculous like that... at this point what else is there to it? The players don't care and the fans aren't into it -- at least a dude taking 100+ shots and seeing how much he could pile up might be interesting
NBA does not have a face that is all about winning any more. Players weren't going to pull this mess with Kobe or MJ or Magic and Bird as the faces of the NBA. If your faces and elder superstars ain't got that competitive dawg in them, than the rest of the 2nd tier stars and young dudes are going to follow their lead.
Nothing healthy about Kobe's mentality.
How
this is why lebron as the face of the league has ruined basketball and its lebron/adam silver and the medias fault

I personaly started losing interest in NBA in 2005-6 but this shit today is just sad.
Kobe and Dirk, kept me interested. It was over for me after 2012.
As a Wade fan I remember seeing the hate he got for "intentionally fouling" Kobe.
That's an example of why NBA players don't try.
Fans want them to semi- try BUT are angry when mistakes happen.
Even kobe who got his nose broken in this game, would put in MORE EFFORT AND COMPETE
@@nine3sevenKobe came back in that game too! He didn’t even care because that’s part of the game. You’re not just gonna get a bunch if easy points against guys that wanna prove something to the other conference. These players don’t wanna prove anything and just wanna look cool

all star weekend is just a joke to everyone including the players 💀🤡
i'm curious to know what would incentivize players besides money or a guarantee for something like homecourt advantage?
i also saw this thing about how it's meant for sponsors to flex and basically spend a weekend partying with stars and chilling. weird how the fans, who should be your target audience, are stuck with the short end of the stick while you cater to gambling companies and sponsors lol

97 3 pointers were attempted by the East team this year. Haven’t watched the all star game since 2016 (Kobe’s last all star game). The league is gonna have to build in another incentive for the players to just compete in the all-star game ffs. WTF is going on 🤣🤦🏽♂️

Wemby is the most mature player in the NBA already which crazy since he is 20.

They really put the BREAK in all-star break
The all star game is basically a what if everyone used the same level of energy on defense as lebron?
Lebron At one point was an elite defender, He’s just got older, conservative with his energy, he’s not going to be Flashy like he once was
Lebron said “I dont understand, I played as hard as I do in any other game” 😂😂😂😂
I get doing that for the first two quarters but after that it should actually be competitive cause the talent would be great to actually see these guys want to win
That's how they used to play. As the game went on the defensive intensity would increase because guys wanted to win.
Its like an nfl game without the defence lining up, but it still takes 4 downs for the offence to score
None of these men are gonna risk injury for an exhibition game.
I didn't watch the game, but judging by the score, I'm assuming that when one team got the ball, the other decided to have a coffee break?
I watched and cheered for Scottie. He did great as a first timer. He managed to play some D earlier on. He did hustle for a defensive rebound to push a transition. Pretty efficient for his 17-18 minutes. Almost a double double. Sure, he enjoyed himself, but he actually played some ball. It wasn't dissimilar to his actual game play.
Happy to see you back man
Happy to be back and at the service of you all. Thank you for watching and the generous donation 🙏
You hit it right on the head
There was a year in the AllStar Games when all I saw was both teams were exchanging lazy Alley-oops. That's when I stopped caring about the AllStar game.

I didn't even bother watch this crap. Better off going to local park and watching some pickup games. 😳
Turned it off by the end of the 3rd Q. Should have just stopped at half time. Lack of competitiveness kills the game completely
They need to make the ASG an USA vs rest of the world game. Bet you that's the only way you'd see some legit basketball playing there. International players would want to stick it to them, and American players will have a reason to show some pride.
These NBA dudes (most) are brainwashed to hate USA so no motivation.
We had that format in the Rising Stars challenge, and the players couldn't give two flying fucks about it, it was the same shit

The NBA in general has becoming sooo bad, its not even funny anymore
Just imagine if Kobe was still alive... His punditry on the current game would definitely motivate people to be better. It's a shame because of all of these other retired players are so diplomatic.
Imagine if Kobe and Wilt were pundits today. They would destroy this garbage. The league despised these two greats anyway.
So.... my question is this. Why do fans put up with this? Year after year, same mess. And here come the fans giving their money for this crap. I refuse
I am so glad I didn't watch it. I knew it was going to be a joke. I rather rewatch the 2003 All Star Game now THAT was an All Star Game.
They should take 10% of the losing teams paycheck and give it to the winner. Maybe that’ll get ‘em to actually play ball.
watching that crap is like getting excited about morning practice
Maybe make it so the winner gets home court advantage in the playoffs? The only way to make it competitive is to raise the stakes. Money doesn't matter.
I'm glad I did not bother to watch 2024 All Star Practice. And I remember the times when ASD meant something...
Haven’t watched an Allstar game live since 2018. Sucks cuz I used to have allstar weekends from the 90s on VHS and watch them on repeat when I was a kid.
Haven’t watched it the last 10 years or so. I’m 58 and remember when they at least tried to play a lil defense. You have guys just walking around the court and shooting 🤣🤣🤣
The nba needs to follow the nfl and replace the actual on court game for something lighthearted that will allow the players to have fun yet be somewhat competitive at the same time. I recommend slamball.
And back in the day they also wanted to make a statement against eachother.
