Low Impact Wakeboarding Good Times

  • Too often people think they need to go for the biggest air they can get to have fun on their wakeboard. There are so many other things you can do to enjoy yourself without even leaving the surface. This is a set where I stay connected to the water nearly the entire time. Whether you think you're too old, too hurt, or just don't want to take impact wakeboarding, this could be for you. Thanks for shooting Emily:)

    Awesome. I’m 47 and I only learnt to wakeboard and wakesurf in the last 2 years. I can forget big air but this was so inspiring

      I'm 47and went really big and won lots of tournaments when I was younger. Do what he did, shorten rope for wake to wKe jumps. A good and impressive trick for you would be start of switch, jump wake and do a blind handle pass 180. You can learn it in flats, he did it in video, then one wake then two wakes. Have fun. I was hear to inspire myself.... I'm still better than my teenage kids.

    Love this! Looks like so much fun! I have been sking/kneeboarding/windsurfing most my life, but at age 39 with 4 kids, we finally picked up a wakeboard. I don't imagine ever doing 1080s wake to wake (maybe the kids) but this looks like tons of fun just cruising around on the flat water. Thanks for sharing.

    • @Shaun.Murray
      @Shaun.Murray  2 роки тому +1

      @@jacobbenton1938 That one's a little tricky, but to learn a flex board makes it easier. And going without fins can help too. Go into a hard cut to get going fast bc speed is your friend and kind of a must. Doing this while the boat is in the turn can help as well. Once you're going pretty fast, shift your weight to the tail by straightening your front leg and pretty much sit on the tail. Your back hip should almost be touching the tail of the board and at that point you can start to push the board out from underneath you by straightening out your back leg. At that point, you should be on the tail. It doesn't last too long unless you're in a gnarly whip so get up on the tail for a brief moment and then come off of it. Hope this helps!

    • @Shaun.Murray
      @Shaun.Murray  4 роки тому +1

      Good question Josh, and I thought the same thing back in 04 when I was doing a simple wake to wake jump on my wakeskate. Landed one foot on and one foot off. Didn't stretch my groin, rather, dislocated my knee blowing my ACL, MCL, PCL, and meniscus. Not saying you shouldn't wakeskate, just telling you that I thought I would "take it easy" and just cruise. Worst knee injury of my history on the water. Few years later I got back on it to say that it didn't beat me. Took a simple fall and as I was coming back to the surface and my head came out of the water the skate was still moving and I took it right between the eyes and split me open. That did it for me. Haven't skated but once or twice at OWC since then. So you could say it beat me.

    If 1/3rd of boarders could do any of this before they got ballast the sport would be so different. Now people just go big get nailed and quit to surf.

      I don't disagree w this Pbg. Too many people think they need to go massive as soon as they are on a wakeboard and many get drilled trying to do so. Then they only wakesurf.
