    I’ve really been enjoying your videos Shaun. I too started in the old Skurfer days, so I really enjoyed the hydrofoil evolution video. Great job. You absolutely rip and have possibly the best style of any rider ever.

    Thank you for your board explanation. Started looking for a new board with a spine because the landings are too hard with my current design. My shop guy recommended a Murray in a 150 and I thought he was nuts. When I started riding a 144 a few years back it felt like a pontoon, but I'm sold now especially considering they're not made of balsa wood anymore. Going back to the Murray will be fun because the Belmont (the tiki one) was the board I started my progression with.

    Could you do a video on riding different board lengths? I have a Hyperlite Premier 135 from 2003 and have eaten it hard so many times. Probably time for a new longer board!!

    Really love the advice in this one! One guy that really seems to do this well is Conrad McIntosh, if you watch his riding he has some of the smoothest landings I’ve ever seen on a wakeboard! I’ve never ridden anything over a 150, but I’m really looking forward to giving the 152 Pleasure a try and seeing how the landings are on that. Have heard nothing but good things about that one!

    • @Shaun.Murray

      Love to hear that you're enjoying the sport and a PWC works great. In fact, I think it's even more beneficial bc too often people make their wakes huge w ballast tanks set on full when they are working on fundamentals.
      Keep the speed pretty slow, 13-15 and work on surface 180's straight behind it. Then speed up a couple mph and work on the 180's outside the wake or on top of it. Basically everywhere you can. Then turn that into ollie 180's. You can do a bunch more stuff behind one that is done in my instructional videos that you can find here on my channel. ua-cam.com/play/PLzW7auimACTo2jYfsUqGqaP0rUqRG6M1w.html

    so do you want tight rope tension when you land or slack in the rope when you land, to get soft landings? great videos too very educational!!

    • @Shaun.Murray
      @Shaun.Murray  4 роки тому +1

      That's a good question Ex Ax. Just a little line tension gives you support from take off to landing. Too much gives you too much yank and doesn't feel great.

  • @martinwright3039
    @martinwright3039 4 роки тому +2

    Hey Shaun, great video again. And great tips. Line tension on jumps is always an issue for me but I am learning.
    Question from my 10 year old son. He can jump wake to wake heel and toe side, but having trouble getting height in the jumps..... he is cutting hard to the wake but looks like maybe too hard. Maybe he’s absorbing the wake but he is trying to stand tall (your tip) and push the handle down on takeoff (David OC tip)....I struggle explaining that he should stay on edge to the top of the wake and then release and stand tall. Is there any other way to explain to a 10 year old how to get more pop in jumps, or any drills that he could practice that would help......watched your detention vids on getting more pop etc.

    • @Shaun.Murray
      @Shaun.Murray  4 роки тому +1

      Few different ways to go about it w kids but here's a tip as well as a link Martin.
      Slow the boat down a little, depending on where you normally pull him, maybe around 18 mph and let the rope out to at least 65'. Tell him to do a short approach, only about 5-8 feet from the wake. Tell him to jump as far as he can w a short approach. This is the hard part. Tell him to not crouch super low but rather stand tall and lean back against the line while starting his cut and as he gets to the wake, begin to release that line tension by letting the board come under him more (stop leaning so hard).
      This usually teaches the sensation of how to get up higher into the air and not just send the line drive low flyer.
      Check this out as well.

    Hey Shuan, love the videos. Keep em' coming! I just got your 2019 pro model discounted, but the only one they had was a 134. I'm 5'9" 160 and pretty athletic. I do a lot of big wave surfing and backcountry snowboarding. I've only wakeboarded a hand full of times, but I really want to get into it. My boat doesn't create a ton of wake (wake edition jet ski and pontoon boat atm). Do you think I'm totally screwed on a 134? or do you think I'll be alright starting to practice spins and inverts (inverts will obviously be a little forced on my size wake, but maybe eventually). Thanks for all the content and God bless.

    Hey Shaun, I've always heard the difference between the pros and everyone else is handle control? Can you talk a little bit about that in a video and how small movements of the handle really affect the takeoffs and landings? It seems just little tiny things mean the difference between a good and an ok wake jump for me.

    • @Shaun.Murray
      @Shaun.Murray  4 роки тому +1

      Good question Adam. To me handle control means keeping it still. It really shouldn't be moving too much, rather our body, mainly our core, moves in and away from it. This is what I call being connected. When our hips get too far from it we feel disconnected, unless we meant to bc we are doing Raleys or glides. Some people will say to move the handle for 180's and things like that but I think the handle should stay as still as possible for the most part and we move our core.

    Hey Shaun I’m a big guy and I just started riding a 156 on cable and I love it! Would you consider offering your pro model in sizes larger than 150? What do you think about over sized boards (not just sizing up) and do you think boat boards run smaller than cable bc of trend or is there a larger reason?

    • @Shaun.Murray
      @Shaun.Murray  4 роки тому +1

      Yo Andrew! I have a prototype in a 155 but it was a big adjustment for the industry to the 150. It's done really well and people see the benefit but not sure how the 155 would be accepted. I think it would work for people over 6'4" on the boat. Not too many of them but I've ridden w quite a few really tall riders who are pretty good and they don't have a properly sized board for them in my humble opinion. Cable is a bit different bc it's more about rails, riding tips and tails and bending the boards. So the oversized boards are more fun on the cable.
