  • At Zoom, we’ve been designing Multi-Effects for guitar players for over 30 years. The G11 represents the culmination of our engineering and passion.
In this video, Ryan from Zoom will go over some of the new features of the G11.

I've been using mine since they first became available in the US. I've used it in recording sessions, rehearsals, and just practicing at home. The tone is great, and Zoom's pedalboard functionality is what draws to me to this above other units. Thank being said, I think the UI could be streamlined, and other features should be implemented if you really want this to compete with other high end modeling units.
    1. There are many superfluous edit screens. I can access everything from the "edit all" screen. All of the specific edit effect order, edit amp, etc, all seem like dead weight.
    2. It would be wonderful if there was a way to truly blend the signals of 2 IRs or add in some kind of parallel signal processing.
    3. The 10 effect limit seems completely arbitrary. I have patches that use well under 100% of the processing power of this unit, but I can't add anything else. Is there a reason for this?
    4. There is always an amp block. Even if I choose not to use any amp model, I'm stuck with it taking space.
    5. It would be great to add additional options to edit IRs beyond the hi and lo controls. Perhaps an expanded screen like you have with the amps.
    6. There should be a way to program what pedals are visible on my "board." I'm never going to turn my IR or EQ or ZNR off, but now I need to scroll through everything to get to my delays at the end of my signal chain.
    7. Bring back the picking modulator effect from the 9030. I've yet to hear anyone offer a sound like this in another pedal. Much like Line 6 has their "legacy" options on their Helix, I think there is some value in keeping these old sounds alive.
Most of these features are available on similarly priced modeling units, and I feel that they would really take the G11 to the next level.
    I'm doubtful you'll see this, and I don't anticipate a response. I've also e-mailed Zoom about this.
Shout out to Sam, I went to college with him (though I doubt he remembers me).

@@hanovergreen4091 Hey! Sorry, I wish I had more info for you. I just build all of my own patches. Happy to answer any other questions you have though!

I've had mine for about a year, and my list of improvements is almost identical and I think would be reasonably easy to implement. Blending 2 IRs in parallel? Solution, any two adjacent IRs are considered parallel, use the level control of the first to control balance. Programming what is visible? In each effect, have a toggle to "hide" the effect. This means it wouldn't show up in the pedal blocks but could be accessed through the touch screen parameters. (I think that would really help). Everything else is pretty brilliant.

@@chrisx742 100%!! I really hope Zoom has something planned for this. Or a next generation modeling unit. I bought a Headrush MX5 and the signal routing and processing power make it tough to go back to the Zoom, though I do really love the sound of the Zoom. But parallel processing and up to 4 amps and cabs simultaneously is insane. Especially for the price compared to the Zoom. and now Boss has the GX-100. More power, more routing options, lower price. Zoom has to come with something big to stay relevant outside of the beginner market (I still regularly gig with my B3n)

@@DasherWilcox I think the Zoom G11 sounds better than the Boss GT1000, haven't compared it to the MX5. It works fine for me. I doubt they will release a v3 with these kinds of improvements. It seems the goal was to keep it simple.

@@chrisx742 I love the UI of the Zoom, and I love the tones I get out of it. But at $799, I just don't think it's feature set makes it a competitive option for most players when looking at everything else on the market right now. I'm still using mine regularly. I swap between that and a GT1000 depending on the gig. The processing power and gapless switching on the Boss makes it hard to replace in some situations.

Hi I have just purchased this pedal. Can I connect it to my amp that has an FX loop using the 4 cable method? Great video..

Why did you omit Peavey Amps on the G11 and G3N? Do you any of your latest pedals include Peavey?

Good that you created a new standard for flagship, bad that you decreased your standard for the G6 price range by removing all the bank movement switches and hurting the User Experience.
Coming from the G5N and having supported your previous flagships for several generations, this slap in the face does not make me want to buy the G11 nor the G6, it makes me want to upgrade to one of the competition's flagships.
Hopefully you will evaluate your design decisions more thoroughly in the future and not take features away in a market segment where you have loyal customers.
