Now we're left with McWidow(Dr.Hays)
Which i like, he is a good character, i see alot of potential in him, he genuinely cares and is an amazing father
I'm so hella pissed. Andrew is one of the best characters on the show right now, his story is so important, he just became an attending, he represents people who struggle with mental health and is such a good, genuine person. Andrew DeLuca deserves so much more
@Anamaria Boholtsameee, they have a great storyline and incredible chemistry
I call that lazy writing. He wasn't even a favorite of mine. But that's just low. His character deserved more and his storyline had just started to to interest me. Mental health is such an important topic to cover. Again that's so low.
Cant have it both ways guys. According to about 3 quarters of the comments on my tablet, maybe more, you people didnt like DeLuca and Meredith as a couple, myself included. Granted, they could have ended his role another way, but you were given what you wanted just not the way you wanted it. Thats what they do. Shock value. Keep it interesting. What I dont get is why. They were okay with being just friends. So he must have wanted to leave. They're not even back on yet, at least here, so why do we know his fate now????? And yes it probably has something to do with Dr. Hayes and Im ok with that , Im just sorry DeLuca had to die. But Im thinking the pairing of Hayes and Meredith would have happened either way. I liked DeLuca, just not for Meredith.
He said so himself playing deluca was an honor and he went down a hero and couldn’t have had it any other way.
I think Grey's has suffered lots of lazy writing because they cannot make their actor's happy. I hope Giacomo has lots of contracts and offers lined up because there was NO reason to murder him besides a real life fat check.
@@thegirl7684 i didn't know dying was a requirement for being a hero. Not all heroes have to die, especially not in such a useless way.
Exactly
They could’ve killed off literally anyone. I never EVER would’ve guessed that they would kill him off. I thought they would kill Richard off before they did Deluca. He JUST became an attending. He JUST went through seasons of person growth and became such an amazing character. I am disappointed to say the least.
Heres the thing that makes what you just said and what happened in the show make a lot of sense, at least to me. You say “he was JUST went thru seasons of personal growth.”, “he JUST became an attending.” But isn’t that how life works ultimately? Most of the time it’s the most unexpected who pass away too soon, that we’re just becoming the things they wanted, etc. While it may be disappointing, it’s pretty much just life.
Dude, let them express themselves. Ha ha.
Typical Grey's fashion. What a pisser. I just don't understand why he had to die.
@@lyricalaltercation Oh I totally agree. This show has a lot of underlying lessons like that. I’m just so upset because he went through some immaculate character development and now he’s just gone. I personally never would’ve thought this was going to happen.

I love the illustration of heaven and afterlife. There's no pain, but peace and you're reunited with all your loved ones you've lost. so beautiful.

Yep. Deluca was my favorite. Meredith didn’t deserve him.
Moral of the Story: Grey's after Shonda Rhimes stopped writing it SUCKS
They usually write a character out once a season. With the temp return of McDreamy and April coming back for an episode it’s not a surprise. We need to be worried for Meredith as she has literally been in this dream sequence for the duration of the season. And considering the episodes are less due to COVID and the season finale being positioned as a series finale, anything is possible storyline wise.
@@sxnder did they announce this as the last season?
@@kamdynhuff5761 nope, but they said the season finale is being written as a series finale just in case they don’t get the renewal.
@@sxnder The show's still doing good so renewal is like as good as confirmed if they wanted it. It's the writer/producers/showrunner's choice to continue it or not.
@@sxnder aww. Yeah. It makes sense. I love Grey's but the show needs to end. The new writers are destroying it and making beloved characters do things they would never do, like Teddy and Alex. Deluca died a hero and at least I am thankful for that but there is no climax in the show anymore. Everyone dies
The moment he says „I have to go“ and Mer says „ok“ you can see the sadness in her eyes because until this moment she still had hope that there is a slight chance he would come back with her. But then she realizes he is not. She realizes this is farewell.
I think you're right. I kinda hoped she'd grab his arm and ask him to stay, but I think she knew she had to let him go.
Why can't this woman ever be happy? Please do not tell me yall killed him just so she can be with Hayes.
you already know.
I’d rather Mer end up a) dead with Derek, b) dead with DeLuca, c) alive and alone raising her children as a capable, single mother, or d) anyone but Hayes.
I’m really not into the whole “2 widows find comfort in each other because they’ve both had a spouse who died” storyline.
The writers have repeatedly torpedoed every single one of Meredith’s relationships, what were you expecting? I don’t mind Hayes though. He’s a nice enough guy, give him a chance.
(Or not. He might end up dead too, or his wife will inexplicably come back from the dead, who knows.)
😂😂😂
@@hkc8544 🤔🤣😂
The problem with this death is that by putting DeLuca in a season long manic state and then having him killed off, it treats his bipolar as a dramatic plot device rather than an actual storyline. He never got a chance to learn to cope and/or how to live with the diagnosis. Killing him off actually does more damage to destigmatizing mental illness than the writers intended.
He did learn to live with his mental issues he was eating right getting rest like he’s supposed to and takeing his meds he even said that , that he was handling it and was takeing control of his life by doing what was best for him now that he knew he had the issues like his dad did . But unlike his father he understood that he had to take his meds and follow the orders of his dr. To be his best self and he could do it.
Also I’m sure the show would have gone that route but the actor wanted to leave unfortunately. His portrayal was amazing however
Andrew DeLuca was a wonderful man. Compassionate and kind, and selfless man for his patient and for the ones he loved. He will be missed. He was one of my faves.
Heartbreaking and i'm glad he and Meredith shared this scene.
"I'll miss you. If I go back and you don't, I'll miss you."
When he saw his mum calling for him. I cried. But then Mer said "I'll miss you" and when he replied with "You'll be okay Meredith, it will be okay", I cried more. But then when she was looking at him with teary eyes, I just started bawling out loud.
Is it healthy too come so close with fiction of a story line? Have a mindset between what is true and what is a story line. Don't be confused about what's real, and unreal. Because in a storyline someone is bound to be killed off in the middle of something good. But knowing the difference between realistic and fiction will keep the mind in a healthy place. This is a late saying!

Straight up bullshit. And the show runners thought that of all the thousand scenarios that they went through, THIS was a fitting end for him? They even admitted that they weren’t going to kill him last season because they wanted him to survive his bipolarity. So they let him survive, only to become an attending and capable of managing his disorder, JUST to axe him 7 episodes later? What in the hell. Lazy ass writing. And such a disservice to not just his character but to anyone suffering from a mental illness. Somehow giving him a “hero’s sendoff” is supposed to make amends for the fact that he died literally trying to redeem himself over a situation that he felt guilty over because he was suffering from a disorder and no one believed him?! BULLSHIT and 100% disrespectful.
@@itshauteoutside I couldn’t agree more. It must’ve been for shock value. I’m used to them killing characters toward season’s end not after winter break. What is my incentive to watch now? Completely nonsensical and a slap in the face to both the character and those with mental illness. If you’re not going to allow characters with mental illness on your show to thrive, then STOP WRITING IT INTO YOUR STORYLINES.
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. Grey’s officially lost me.
I’m not saying I agree with this but I get what they were TRYING to do here. They were trying to illustrate how short life is and that fate (or God or destiny or whatever you want to call it) doesn’t give a shit about your plans. When it’s time to go, it’s time to go. We see patients on this show survive crazier stuff every week. But this was meant to be a shocking jolt (or a total dick move, whatever you want to call that) that shows we’re here today, gone tomorrow. And one day something as simple as a stab wound in the wrong place can stop us in our tracks at the worst time. When we have finally battled our demons and have a future to look forward to. To have plans in life and then in a moment that all can end.
The miscalculation here is that Grey’s has already pulled at this same heartstring several times and have emotionally worn out the fans. Untimely death is something that affects so many people everyday and it’s pain beyond description. This is happening even more now in the middle of a pandemic. We fans aren’t here for the sadism man, especially not right now. We tune in to shut off our part of the brain that worries 24/7 and just want to be entertained for an hour. The writers knew that and exploited our collective weakness to make a “Made for TV Moment”. You got what you wanted writers, I hope you guys are happy. Because the rest of us are devastated.
@@TheRealStunt I get why they did what they did. But shock value deaths this far into the show is pointless. Like you said, they’ve done this so many times before. But the fact that they chose to kill off a character whose entire storyline last season was focused on his mental health and if he could overcome it, then overcomes it, and dies a nonsensical death for shock value is such a disservice. Instead of shining light on how people with different mental illnesses could thrive in their lives due to management and balance, they chose to throw it away because they thought this was a fitting end for the character? We didn’t even get to see THAT much of DeLuca’s storyline this season minus the first few episodes in re: to how he’s managing. It seems like every time they try to write a storyline based on one’s mental health, they completely miss the mark and shy away from covering it fully. Ex) April and her depression. Instead of truly delving into that, they ended up giving her a religious awakening where she found God and happiness with Matthew and somehow was better.
The human trafficking storyline is extremely important and also a difficult one to tackle, but I just don’t see how his death services that storyline. Krista’s interviews make it seem like this was literally the only outcome that would work for that storyline. His death doesn’t help shed more light on the issue. It was truly for shock value.
If the writers really wanted a death that would shock the entire core of the hospital, then they should’ve just killed Webber off last season. He is the string that held that entire hospital together and that death would’ve forced the storyline forward. DeLuca’s doesn’t unfortunately. We’ll see everyone grieving and Bailey/Levi feeling responsible and guilty for not believing him the first time. And then that’ll be that.
Either way, we’ve suffered so much loss this year that I agree with you completely that this was just masochistic and left a bitter taste in many viewers’ mouths. From the consensus online so far, it seems like they’ve lost a lot of viewers too after last night.
I didn’t cry but I knew it was an end of an era when he hugged his mom bevause he’s gone now. But like what’s sad is he’s the first guy Meredith has loved since Derek
This guts me every time I watch it. Best use of the beach. Reminds me of when Izzy and George met in the elevator.
