    I'm a pastor, when someone says they're too far gone to be a Christian, I ask them "how many Christians have you killed?".
    When they respond with surprise, I teach them about the Apostle Paul who wrote the majority of the New Testament and before he was a Christian he was torturing and murdering the early Christians.

    • @scottbryant6349
      @scottbryant6349 6 місяців тому +86

      And not only that, but the Apostles were skeptical of Paul's conversion but he had a brother go on his behalf with him to the disciples and then they welcomed him. Believers should be skeptical of people who say they converted but that doesn't mean you don't work to disciple them and allow God to work in them to change their hearts and lifestyle.

    I’m a homemaker, wife, mother of 2 (soon to be three) and was a virgin until I met my husband. I knew a SAHM in my old neighborhood who would connected with a lot of- we both baked bread and loved being wives and mothers and believe in traditional, conservative values… and she admitted that between 18 and 21, she made porn. She got pregnant with her oldest at 21 and it changed her life. She changed her whole life, found Christ, finished college, became a teen crisis counselor, married the pastors nephew, and is now in her mid 30s, SAHM, happily married, five kids, house in the burbs, and is every inch a traditional, beautiful woman full of dignity and love. She is my proof that anyone can come back.

      Man, i am happy for you and your husband, and i hope you guys have a fruitfull and happy life together. You sound like the type of person i would love being friends with - and i bet your husband is a great guy too!
      However, i myself could never take a women like your friend seriously for a relationship, and i kinda feel sorry for her husband.
      If i found out my wife did porn, i would feel like i was her " safe bet ", like she settled for me as a man, since in the case of your friend, she was, i imagine, a single mom who did porn when she met the " Pastors Nephew ". Also, given that she did that, i imagine she must be really pretty, so that would contribute to this view. Unless of course the first child of hers was with the pastor's nephew, but that was not what i understood. But them again, english is not my first language, so i might have made a mistake there.
      But even so.
      Imagine if her kid's friends find her stuff online? What will that make for their childhood?
      They would be endlessly mocked for having a hoe mom, and would destroy their school years.
      Or even her husbands friends. Imagine finding out his friends found her videos/pics and now jerk off to her. What would that cause?
      To me it just sounds too complicated.
      I just hopes nobody finds out, and that she appreciates that guy everyday, because that is a lot to accept for any man.

      God can for sure change anyone. However Jesus says in Matthew 5:31 that if you marry a divorced woman it’s still adultery. And people seem to be forgetting that it's all by the grace of God. Grace is defined as an unmerrited favor. Sure, by our standards, this woman is stained by her past and will have to shoulder that burden the rest of her life every time a well-meaning man (graciously and humbly i hope) rejects her. but if there is a man who wants to marry to her in spite of her past, it's because of God's grace on her life that he allowed her to become a wife. and it's on her to honor that grace by never going back to her sinful life of sex work.

Sadly, at that point, they have decades and decades of work in the porn industry that is permanently on the internet. It's a terrible thing that's happening to them. They didn't realize they were putting themselves into a cage when they started making pornography until *way* later in life. Young people make mistakes and I can't fault them for that, but I agree that getting into that line of work is (a) a conscious decision and (b) should not be forgotten easily. There is a person for everyone, and maybe she'll find the man for her that is okay with her past and the things she's said (whether or not they are actually true). But no man HAS to be that person for her. No one is entitled to a relationship, and the more people pretend that the actions they take don't or shouldn't have an effect on how others see and value them, the more they will ruin potential relationships with others.

It’s very sad to hear ppl talk about how a woman’s reputation or life is ruined even if they get out of the industry and, quite honestly, says more about that person than the ex porn star. I see myself as a better mother because I know how predators work and I’m more aware of the love my daughter needs so she’ll never go searching for it from the wrong people. Very well written, Thank You. Yes, we are called to forgive, but we are not called to forget. To forgive is what God wants, but the sinner should not ask you to forget the sin. To forget the sin would leave the sinner free to repeat the sin and expect forgiveness again. The sinner that expects forgiveness and that you forget the sin, has not started on the road to redemption.
      Paul is a wonderful example of this. Paul persecuted the Christians before he became a believer. Did some believers not trust Paul, yes they did not trust him. But God still used Paul. Paul while completely changing his life had to suffer through the distrust and those that would not work with him. Paul's entire life was a redemption story.

    "But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." I live this way and truly believe that - "all the old has passed away, and behold, all is made new" praise Jesus for His redemption.

      The prophet Hosea did. I am not saying that men are obligated to ignore a woman's past. But then neither are women. Maybe something we aren't acknowledging is the other side of the coin. Many Christian or professing Christian men are caught up in porn. Should a woman ignore that when preparing for marriage? What I am talking about is not the occasional use of Playboy from years past, which my husband gave up when he converted to Christianity. Today's point is ever present and hard core. I have seen it break up Christian marriages. Should a woman refuse marriage to a man who has engaged in that? Well, it's up to the woman. But I think it is true that even though there is a certain number of women who have these pages, there are a lot more men who are consuming them and worse pages. So yes, not many men want to marry a prostitute, but then not many women want to marry a john who practices daily. Who can get married then? With mankind it is impossible but with God all things are possible. The answer will vary from couple to couple.

      I get it. You aren't afforded any kind of deniability. But you don't get onlyfans girls without a huge number of men watching. It's like in a village. Ok, so people can say 'Jane is the village bicycle', but all of the men who shared her bed get anonymity. She's treated as akin to a disease but the people whose arms wrapped her get to denounce her. When you look at the stats around viewership, men (and a surprising number of women) are morally complicit. So in terms of the stigma, I think there's some fairness to the idea of 'let he who is without sin cast the first stone'. The Christian view is that everyone is worthy of hell, so might as well have an ounce of humility.

      @YeshuaSaves726 6 місяців тому

      Amen and to repent means to have a change of mind but sadly many think it's turning from sin which isn't Biblical,you turn from your sin as you change your mind. Jesus always said he who believes in Me has everlasting life,not he who turns from their sins and believes in Me. Jesus is definitely for us not sinning,when He heals somebody or saves,He always says go and sin no more but He also knows we fall short and isn't demanding us this religious path and giving us heavy burdens to bear. Once Jesus said there's more joy in Heaven over one sinners who repents than over 99 righteous who need no repentance and if repentance was turning from sin then they wouldn't be called righteous by Jesus and He wouldn't say they don't need repentance because there's always something to repent of,we do sins we aren't aware of even. Therefore it is only by God's grace through our faith we're saved as Paul told us. This sister is saved,i think she received the gift of salvation and Holy Spirit by believing in death,burial and resurrection of Jesus and then went to baptise to show her dedication to Christ,that she loves Him. If one decides to turn to Christ and repent of their sins, one cannot change their mind but keep living in sin, and neither can one not change their mind and stop living in sin. These are one and the same action. To split the smallest of hairs over “repent means change your mind, not turn from sin” seems unnecessary. Obviously if you give your life to Christ, you’re going think differently, engage with people and reality differently, and this will naturally lead to a reduction, and in some cases, an elimination of certain sins.

      The solution to that is strong families with humble parents and open lines of communication. The women who end up in these industries don't tend to do so because it seemed like a really positive decision for their future. They usually come from a lot of dysfunction and almost never have a good relationship with their father. So long as divorce remains a socially acceptable solution to marriage difficulties that industry will likely not want for participants.

      Interestingly, no, they’re not biblically. Several times throughout the Torah there are commands requiring someone to be “cut off from his people” if transgressed. We don’t know if that means exile or death. To the ancient Hebrews, that was more or less the same fate.
      There’s no debate, however, what it means in Christianity. St. Paul was murderer of Christians. He had authority in the church as an apostle, and not just an apostle, but the apostle to the gentiles. If the Christians of the day could forgive him THAT past, then there’s no reason at all for any Christian man to say that a woman should be shunned because of her sexual past when she’s trying to change.

    The argument was never about denying her right to turn to Christianity (though obviously many doubted her sincerity). It was people pointing out that while she can be saved spiritually that in the real world most men would still not be interested in marriage with her due to her past. This is not the same thing as saying she can't be forgiven or become Christian. It's pointing out a social ramification that is independent of her religious journey.
    What was interesting to me was how many traditional, Christian women went to bat for her and were angry that men were saying she still wouldn't make good marriage material. I would think a Christian woman would agree and for example be bothered by her own son bringing a girl like Nala home. Though it seemed like quite a few didn't want to agree to the premise strangely.

      That’s a fair assessment and what I like about your comment is that you see the nuance. There are many saying she isn’t entitled to a relationship but the fallacy is that anyone is entitled to one. Some guys may see it as a no go, others may see only the here and now and as long as she is honest about her past, I see no issue with her pursuing relationships. Not all Christian men have families to answer to and some men might consider her worth it. I would not choose to engage with a man who was promiscuous, although there is much less stigma around it, so I don’t know why any woman would expect men to just ignore her past. In truth, we all have our own interpretation of the Word, a truth evidenced by the sheer number of denominations just within Christianity. Unless you are God himself, we cannot Know, especially when people pull stuff out of context. The way I see it: this woman should absolutely be accepted if she wants to change her life and follow Christ. ALSO, no man should ever be shamed for not wanting to date or marry her. Both of these things can be true. Jesus accepts everyone where we are at, and he is overjoyed to have her in the Kingdom. He never said there wouldn't be consequences for our past actions.

    • @pukupuku
      @pukupuku 6 місяців тому

      Why would someone shame a random man for not wanting to date someone he doesn’t know? If you’re saying she doesn’t deserve to experience the joy of family life and a committed relationship because of what she did in the past, then you would deserve criticism.

    • @bigman9490

      @@pukupuku I didn't say that. I wish her the best and hope she finds what she is looking for, but I do know that she will come across many men in the church who will treat her with respect but not want to date her.
      My guess is it will turn out like this: After sometime in reflection and pursuing Christ, she will slowly get back into the dating scene, and she will likely try to get the attention of men that she has come across. She has made herself fairly widely known on podcasts, Tiktok, instagram, etc as a former onlyfans and adult entertainment actress, so she will likely be recognized in some capacity. Many men will not want to date her and just treat her as nothing more than a friend or good acquaintance. It may even come to a point where she asks a man out and he says no; or a man later finds out after a bit of time dating about her past and it doesn't sit well with him and can't get over it. These are the men who should NOT be shamed.

      @@xa1551 I was just saying a way that she could have dodged all backlash. Maybe her “testimony” did help some but her public stating her change is what opened her up to public scrutiny. That being said comparing Paul and appointed apostle mentioning some of his past in small spurts while also writing dozens of inspired letters that have way more content then just his “testimony” is a big stretch in reference to a woman who was just putting her butt online for attention. Paul was a religious zealot he was never an unprincipled man he was just on the wrong side. A lot of modern Christian “testimonies” have always seemed performative too me. No other apostle gives their “testimony” we don’t know any of their past misdeeds. In fact I don’t think the word testimony is used in that context much if at all in the gospels.

    One of my favorite things my church does is every month, after the sermon the pastor would introduce a person or couple and they would give their testimony to redemption.
    These were testimonies from people of ALL the walks of life.
    These same people are volunteers within the church making up staff, members, pastors etc. That church is a place full of broken people and a great reminder to me that if they can change so can I.
    After seeing hundreds of testimonies and seeing them lived out I do believe that ANYONE can be saved if you truly repent and turn away from your old life.

I just retired from 23 years in law enforcement. Do you know how many offenders told me that they were done? Do you know how many substance abusers get clean and swear they are done? As a man looking for a wife I would not gamble my minute fortune or my emotional well being on that miniscule chance that the conversion is permanent.

    But Pearl is correct that from a societal standpoint, an ex-porn star is going to struggle to find a quality man who can overlook such a past. It's hard to overlook something that's still online someplace, able to be found to humiliate the woman's family at any point in the future.
