Benchtop Mortising Machine amzn.to/3xvA6rQ
A mortise and tenon joint is a very strong joint that is not hard to make. There are many ways you can cut the mortise, and using a mortising machine is one of the easiest. I’ve this Grizzley Tools benchtop mortising machine for at least 7 years and have used it maybe 3-4 times, so every time I use it I need to relearn how to set it up, so I figured I would document setting it up this time with a video.
With that said, if you’re not anticipating on cutting a lot of mortises a mortising machine may not be the best investment you could make as there are many other ways you can cut mortises. You can cut them completely by hand with a chisel or use a drill press to bore the majority of the wood and finish with a chisel or use a router, to name a few. It is up to you on how you would cut the mortise.
perfect description on how it works and how to use it. you kept it simple and direct. just what I needed my friend. subscribed.
Thank You. I'm really getting tired of these channels that actually make fun of safety.
Thanks. Safety should always be on your mind, especially in the shop, but I also don't abide by the notion that "safety comes first". If that were the case you wouldn't even get out of bed.
@@AndersenWoodCrafts I completely agree. I always practice appropriate safety. I live in Florida, so of course I'm in the shop with sandals, but I don't encourage it. It just grinds my gears when some very large UA-camrs encourage others to do what they do, like suggesting DIY asbestos removal...without even use of a respirator.
A key part of the set up is the position of the bit relative to the chisel.
Agreed. Thanks for watching.
Whats the difference with that and the Hollow mortising machine
This machine does utilize a hollow mortising bit. Other than high end, high production machines I am not aware of any mortising machine that doesn't use a hollow mortising bit. Thanks for your comment.
How much price
The Grizzly Bench Top Mortiser is around $425.
