Indeed, they were a power couple.
Lots of people get nervous being in the same room as them because their energy was intense, and not just because they were Citizen Kane level famous at the time.
Good intense, as in they talked a lot, they're bolder than the rest, they vibed well together, the room's focused on their energy, etc.
      Not bad divorcy intense.

A great thing about youtube is the amount of interesting interview clips, and the like, that can be seen at the touch of a button. At the back of my mind, I still expect to only hear such things "once in a blue moon" either on the radio or tv. How many hours tv could someone spend watching before finding an interesting interview? Oh well. I watched Key Largo last night for the first time in years. It was the last film in which Bogart played the character he is best known for (underdog, reluctant hero type) and the last one he did with Bacall. Good film. But I'm not sure how much Bogart, or Bacall, made the film. I think it was down to the style of storytelling. A lot of those old 40s movies could bear the subtitle "a study in character". And that's what they had: character. Bogart & Bacall were the beneficiaries of that more than its producer, I think. Similar thought hit me watching the John Garfield movie, "Force of Evil", a few nights before. Garfield's movies (including the boxing one) were later remade by Scorsese decades later, but the originals had infinitely more character to them, I think, and even intelligence (amongst the violence). They had a rounded view. Compare an Edward G. Robinson gangster with an Al Pacino one, and what do you have? The latter is played as if an audience literally gets their kicks from violence. The former is played as if audience has the intelligence to see through all the violence. Ditto Scarface (1931) vs. Scarface (1983). That being said, gangster films aren't really made to be edifying....so I guess my whole comment is pointless, lol. More to the point: Bacall's acting in Key Largo & Dark Passage was, on the balance, probably much better than her acting in Big Sleep & To Have Or Have Not; the four movies she did with Bogart. But I'd say the latter two have always been the most popular and most well known. Oh well. My memory tells me that another 40s American hard-boiled drama that I ought to watch again someday is All The King's Men with Broderick Crawford. Good entertainment? Yah.

I dont agree with what she said about men afraid of Bogart. If you take away his money and status. He's just another body. And I be amazing too if I merry Lauren Bacall

Nope, Bogart was well-read, handsome and charismatic. Most people don`t have all these...

Bogie suffered from extreme flatulence and horrific breath because of his excessive drinking and smoking, Lauren really had to love a guy like that 😷

"He had TOTAL INTEGRITY..." she says of a 45 yo man who cheated on his third wife AND children, to run off with a nineteen year old virgin he met working on his film set! What planet does she live on??? I mean, like seriously, how do people rationalize this totally SICK behavior and turn it into something romantic and iconic? Being a popular film actor, doesn't make anything you do acceptable. He was a womanizing creep who preyed upon her as a inexperienced girl, period.

      Over 18 is adult.
It was completely legal what he did.
And he handled the situation with total integrity.
He divorced his wife and he married Lauren and he stayed with her until the day he died.
      That is total integrity, period.

Children? Bogart didn't have any children with Mayo Methot. His only children were with Bacall. Are you spreading misinformation from Russia?

His wife was abusive, so abusive the press called them 'the battling bogarts'. Mayo would hit him and even stabbed him on the shoulder. Even after he fell for Lauren he felt he had a duty to stay with Mayo. But when Mayo insulted her over the phone, he decided to call it a day.

@@Plushiechic He "fell for" a 19 year old he had power over at his job, and made her wife #4? Yah he sure sounds like a poor helpless victim with great ethics! He had issues with his wife because he wouldn't stop CHEATING ON HER AND DRINKING LIKE A FISH! Smh... people are so delusional about their favorite celebrities.
