I love my SKXMOD black/gold AE1200, and love the anonymity of a full metal premium watch that nobody knows I have. But I have managed to scratch the case though!
When I saw their new faceplates, I have never ordered something so fast in my life! I have the Satin Silver A168 with the full bracelet, and it might literally be my current favorite watch. And it’s exactly what you said. NO ONE knows the watch that looks like a cheap Casio is a $200 Mod. And unlike the A168, it feels like a legitimate and substantial watch. Now if that makes me an idiot, I don’t mind. I prefer the term idiotic enthusiast thank you very much…
I love my Casio A168 SKXMOD Version. Mine looks exactly like their full build #31. It’s literally the only watch I currently own that I want to wear all the time. And it’s not even really a real watch! It’s a kit! John, I bet you dollars to cents that SKXMOD would send you one if you did a review on your channel. Just sayin’… they’re not sending you 6 (or how many ever they sent) like they did for Jody, but surely one…
Also John is about as honest as they come. I don’t mean to imply anyone needs anything sent for them to review something. I’m rarely surprised by anything anymore, and I am genuinely surprised by how much I like this. I’m strongly thinking about buying another kit instead of buying something from the 11.11 Sale.
I think I will stay with my cheeper version and for the reason it’s the real thing if I want a watch for tougher conditions i will where one of my G-shocks which some of them cost a lot cheaper then £150
The F91w is just as tough as any G Shock. If you somehow manage to damage your F91w I doubt you'd be alive to worry about it. The things are bombproof. I mean, how can you damage an F91w???????
@@johntate5050You can scratch it and it will get scuffed. But rather than have a bulletproof one maybe the solution is to just replace it with the same thing. I don't foresee a world where this watch isn't made.

@@ilaserbia I don't think it's about that. A g shock is amazing in its own right, but surely must allow for other alternatives for people who want steel and sapphire and DLC and fkm rubber and a much slimmer profile with modification options.
@watchmewithwatches Yeah. I mean to each their own. This is a stunning watch in it's own right. Just not for me as I'd rather have a G-Shock for less than a modded Casio for more. Again, just my reasoning and taste. Everyone is allowed to have their own. Enjoy this beauty!
@@casioilluminator7966 Good point. I have a modded B5600 with an aluminium case and it came down to about 105€ in total. I know it kind of goes against my original comment against modding watches, but same as our host, I enjoy wearing it and that's all that should matter :)
Hi Dan, this is right up my street, I don't understand why it is so hard to find a digital watch with a metal case and a sapphire lens for a reasonable cost?, Trying to source those specs I wanted turned me to the dark side, and I now rock a galaxy 6 classic smart watch with limitless dial faces to download, I don't use all the fitness crap but have loads of retro digital displays, anyways great vid.
@@rentresna440 I know what you mean, but the spec seems to warrant the cost I suppose. Not cheap dlc coating things and making bespoke parts in relatively limited numbers.
It's Christmas, so perhaps that's the reason but.. and because you and/or others have reviewed this SKX MOD piece recently, they have probably had an increase in costumers so they pay us with increasing the price up to 200 dollars. This shows very much on the bigger watch channels. When they review something that's about to be released , and it gets popular, the stores raise their prices. I think their should be some kind of gentleman's agreement between influencers and those companies, that when you advertise those products, they don't raise the prices for 2 months or something. The information in the video is 150 dollars. Some weeks or days later, the price in the link is 200 dollars. Some reviewers have refused to review for those that do this, so they are not influenced by them. I have seen them raised a lot, the day after release of a video.
@@Man_Ray78 It is normal for me to check the price here. Maybe you can study their purchase method more. The price of a separate kit and a kit with a movement will be very different. The price of a rubber strap and a steel strap will also be different. Their combination is very flexible, and many accessories are not required items.
I was going to reference that model, but then looked more at the lug design and realised nope. It's based on the a168 of course, which is like a chunkier version anyway.
This one is confusing. $180 is crazy but after watching the video, not so much. People like the f-91w because it's cheap, light, and functional. When you take away the cheap and light and rely on the looks with the added bonus of the materials it's made from, then I don't know. I guess if you had one when you were a kid and want another, but you don't want a cheap plastic toy watch, then this is perfect. For me, I never had a Casio as a kid, so this wouldn't be for me. I was a Timex Ironman kid, and I still have a couple that get used to this day.
Brilliant for us who loved and still loves the f- 91w, it's a grown ups version, awesome work Dan cheers.
