This is the most intelligent Funk/ Groove album ever made. I heard it on JJJ Radio Sydney in 1981 and raced out and bought it. Which is out of character for me as I'm into STATUS QUO and THE SEX PISTOLS amongst a plethora of Rock acts. This is virtually a PUNK/FUNK album.
The bassist's name is John Wilson. He's playing it upside down, and his main instrument was rhythm guitar. Clearly a lost genius - this article about the making of the album is fascinating.... thequietus.com/articles/04817-heaven-17-interview-penthouse-and-pavement
Hearing this takes me back to my nightclubbing days in New York City 1978 to 1983
Groundbreaking album from 1981.
Great song to dance to and get lost in the beat.
One of the best 80's groups totally underrated...80's personified.....

Thanks for the article-Huh? He played the bass upside down? I can barely play it right side up...
Only 17 years old.
Does anyone know if at the end of this song is the instrument a bass (which I think it is) or guitar?
Same thing ?
Bass for sure
...and yet only Kubrick named band.
I think the name was used for a fictional band in the movie A Clockwork Orange
Moloko. Late 90s house/pop group with an Irish female lead singer. She's cool as fuck :)
