    I am in the last category!
    No plan to own an NRX but I will always watch your rod and reel videos (spinning more than casting).

    Great review. I have an older 873 and a newer + 853 and had a similar experience on the water. NRX's are great with noticeable upgrades, but have the same feel on the water. I wasn't 100% sure because I couldn't do side by side comparisons. The best thing from the NRX+'s to me is the addition of the MBR. Love the 844 and can't wait for the 843 to come back in stock. I love the new spinning rod handles so I agree that the upgrades are worth the extra $$$.

    Great review! I would also like to add if you are in the market for an MBR and can’t choose between the new NRX+ MBR or Conquest MBR, go with the Conquest. The conquest still feels significantly stronger on the water. The NRX+ definitely feels stronger because they added the Spiral X to it, but it still has but very slightly, that NRX feel. I own the Conquest 903c and NRX+ 904c MBR, and I can tell you that although the NRX+ is a power stronger, my conquest still feels better and stronger in hand when fighting fish. Overall, the Conquest is just a stronger built rod if you’re looking for a strong gloomis rod to do it all.

    Really like the handle on my 821 NRR over my IMX-PRO spinning rod's handle (similar looking to the old NRX), so I'll probably stick with the + models when I get around to buying more.
    Do you feel like Ben at The Hookup Tackle represented the 872s well in his review vs the Windbuster? My own experience with an 852s leads me to believe the 1/8-3/8 rating is for the jighead/bullet weight and not total lure weight. My IMX-PRO 852s is more powerful than my 7'3" M Victory, and handles 1/2oz Dark Sleepers and 9/16oz Whopper Ploppers better than the Victory.

The + is VERY fast and VERRRRY powerful for 1/8-3/8 rating IMO. Maybe I haven’t fished it enough yet either. You probably have more time on the water

    In my opinion, the NRX was already the best rods on the market and the NRX+ rods address the only things that needed improving. I did find the reel seats on the old models a little uncomfortable. New ones are much better. The balance points are improved. I also owned the old 873c and have new one. The balance is very good. I ventured out and tried the comparable new Diawa Steez models. I was very underwhelmed and sold both of them. I watched your video that gave those rods props for a more major reboot. Side by side fishing with the NRX, the Steez did not look or feel as high end to me. I did not own the old NRX 852s (had Conquest 842s), but the NRX+ 852+ is very fast. In fact, I’m thinking about going with a NRX+842s instead because I do a lot of dock skipping and it seems tougher on the 852s. What do you think?

  • @abuncharandomstuff

    I have an NRX 803S JWR, Conquest 842S SJR, and a Conquest 782S SJR. I just got the 782S and I feel like the tip on it is waaaay too flexible. Sounds weird, but I feel like it's too... bendy? And this is just throwing weightless Senko's. I use my 842S all the time, but find myself grabbing my NRX over the 782S quite often. That being said, I agree with vSaviay - spend the extra money to get the Conquest.

    I don’t think this is a dumb video idea at all, man. In the guitar world, we sometimes compare models that have been out of production for decades. Some of the best NRX deals come when you can be patient and find a gently used model at a good price. Relevant information all the way.

    I was interested in getting an NRX+ as a jig and soft plastics rod but the fact that you mentioned that they were tip heavy made the decision to go with a P5 Dark Sleeper much easier, Ben and Griff express differences in a P5 vs NRX+ comparison but they don’t call it out right tip heavy. I know the NRXs are light but there is know reason imo that they can’t find a way to make basically the most expensive bass rods evenly balanced.

    • @PunchFishing
      @PunchFishing  Рік тому

      I don't think the "tip heavy" nature of the NRX+ is really that bad because the rods are ridiculously light. Plus, I think the balance is only really amplified on their 7'5" rods (894/893/895). I have a 873c NRX+ and it's balance is perfectly fine. I have a 894c with a Steez A on it and it feels pretty good.

      I bought an Orion Black Rose and I LOVE IT. The styling is absolutely sick and it is by far the most well-built stick I’ve ever owned. I really like it for throwing chatterbaits since the taper is more moderate once you hook a fish but it’s powerful enough to get through cover no problem. It’s also still quite sensitive for bottom contact. Over time I will be replacing my line up with Evergreen rods after my experience with The Black Rose. Next pick up I’m thinking about is a Kaleido Inspirare Egoist for a dedicated bottom contact rod.

    • @arnemueller2112

      @@davideakin3372 I have an Orion „The Throne“ for throwing Big Baits (incredible Power/Weight ratio) and several Kaleido Inspirare (Super Stallion GT, Gunslinger, Black Raven Rs ltd). The unique selling point for these Evergreen rods is versatility in my opinion. Compared with e.g Megabass P5 Destroyer or Daiwa Steez (all of them are incredibly well built and really high end), these Evegreen rods are capable of serving a broader range of baits and techniques. The P5 Destroyer on the other hand are outstanding fishing the technique they are dedicated to. If you look for a rod serving bottom contact techniques (jig heads in general) take a look at the Gunslinger. Incredibly sensible, you can feel a fishes fart :) If you want to throw Texas or Carolina rigs the Gunslinger won’t fit as the tip is a bit stiff…..
