In this video we show how to test an airbag with a multimeter with a resistance measurement
No need to be scared of airbags they are very safe unless you're being a bellend
Very easy and simple tests hope you enjoy watching don't forget your hands dirty - Авто та транспорт
This is exactly what I needed to know. Thank you very much.
The problem is, there a more then one type of airbag, of if they are defective they might go off, some multimeters have 9v some have 3v, and its the volt that often will be able to activate the airbag igniter, so there is a risk of it going off while you ohm it, cause of your multimeter is sending voltage thru it, and the mount of volts its gets back its can tell you the resistance. Here comes the problem, the airbag will also go off with 10V. i case of low battery on the car, lower then 10v your airbag ecu will turn off, but HOW many volts there will be needed to activate the airbag is not the same on any airbag, so good luck try out :D Remember earplugs!
And the parts about not need to take car battery off.. LIE, IF there is a problem on the airbag system, or the system is build with Capacitors and a small "consumer" then the system will need to be drained. Older cars dont have the "ground" function youre talking about. AND if you belive on it will save you from deployment, keep in mind that deployment takes less then 0,1sec. AND the airbag makes a lot of damage when it deploys in your hands. Google "airbag damage" and think of it in your hands, and i gets hot.
I have seen a lot of damage from working on DEFECTIVE airbag systems, and its first when the system is in error mode people start touching it.
Never car systems often CUTS all power to airbag systems and only sends out power to messure airbag systems on start up.
You can test how much you can safely test your airbag with by testing the plugs with multimeter, if the ecu sends 5v out, to not never but in 9V !!!
You can test how much volt you ohm meter sends out with another multimeter.
Different system, different load. Do not just "Jump in" with airbag systems, find some data on your system and follow the "standard ways" to deal with it, if you do that it will not blow up in your hands and head of you stands in your hands with a defective airbag in a way that can deploy.
AND DO NEVER USE FORCE ON IT!, they CAN deploy from it depending on how its build.
As he said "there are many different types of bags and reading may vary..." In this video he's just sharing the basic procedure and tools to use.
great info, thanks mate. Still haven't managed to get the airbag out the Mondeo, those clips are fiddly
Badgertronix just keep poking around in the little hole believe me you'll know when she's going off lol
hahahaha
I had an old Vauxhall combo van,I had to take the steering wheel off, can't rember why now, anyway didn't disconect battery, put it all back together, and air bag light was on,I was told I should of discoected battery first? ,
John Easton hi mate if you disconnected the battery yes you won't have had the airbag light on afterwards but as you can see from my videos you do not need to disconnect the battery to take the airbag out if you disconnect a battery on a modern car the chances of that car starting afterwards is very slim as you will lose all communication with the modules and the memories will be Whiteout
Great vid mate
thanks mate
HAHA I like Eric's method b/c then you know the squib actually works. Nice video Leon!
lol thanks mate
🇮🇪🇮🇪 Good video enjoy the St Paddys Day celebrations🍺🍺
will do mate guinness guinness and more guinness
I was watching the phone through the gaps between my fingers... just in case the bag went booooom!
I wonder how many people was waiting for it to go bang as I know I was but not in a bad way to hurt bodgit.
Thomas EXOVCDS lol its ok I'm still here I survived the most dangerous thing in the world hahaha
Why is there a blue dot in the middle of the video?
I use an ice cream stick to hold pins back
i presume thats 2.5 ohms ish tks for video
Not generally a good idea to trust someone who writes "a airbag"
is your middle name danger? Do you like to live dangerously mister leggit :D
hahaha yes it is
1.6ohm on my dead Picasso airbag
DON'T EVER DO THIS! YOU NEED A SPECIAL LOW AMPERAGE OHMMETER TO DO THIS. A STANDARD MULITI METER HAS ENOUGH AMPERAGE THAT IT COULD CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you don't need all capitals just shows your ignorance you haven't a clue what you are talking about I've got a video coming up very soon 1 million percent proving a multimeter will not and does not have enough to blow in a bag look at lots of UA-cam videos at all doing the same thing I've been doing this for years I know a lot of people that been doing it for longer than me me being alive and no one has ever heard of an airbag blowing up because of an multimeter
If you actually knew what you was talking about you would know you would need amperage and voltage both together 100 volts with 0 amperage would not blow an airbag and I'm going to prove this cannot wait to see your face when you realise you are completely wrong
@@bodgitandleggitgarage Ooh, look. A video showing how a 9 volt battery can trigger an airbag ua-cam.com/video/D_ir7YNzNk8/v-deo.html
Take it from someone who has triggered an aircraft slideraft, leave this stuff to the experts.
