@@darkknight_za Yeah but see what makes being CEO of a company so fun is that she can easily hire minions and underlings to do the dirty work for her. That really shouldn't be much of an issue.

There was always a zero percent chance Logan would approve of that in the succession plan-news is the most consistent and reliable media business imaginable, and the sector of Logan's company that he's most proud of, by far.

@@Δ-Δ-Δ-Δ News channels do make money, but it is very expensive and very complicated to run a news channel and the companies that do own news channels could be making much larger profits if they invested their money into other things. But because so many people watch news channels and get a lot of their political opinions from them, these news companies understand that they have a lot of influence over their audience and use this fact to their advantage. For example, if you owned a popular news channel, you could use your influence over your audience to get them to support your political beliefs, like interviewing political lobbyists or endorsing politicians that support lowering capital gains taxes, so you could make more money. Politicians also understand how much influence news company owners have over the population and that would make you a powerful person and you'd have influence and connections to powerful people.
Too bad they cut this scene off too early. I love the moment after she says "Yes." Something like "Of course I wanna do it. You know I'd killing it" or something like that, it was so powerful. Great actress.

When you spend your life trying to get your parent’s approval and they finally give it, well, it’s so easy to let yourself believe they really mean it. She stopped seeing him as Logan Roy, CEO and more as Logan Roy, her dad. And Logan let her believe it because it suited his interests best. When he says, “Shiv, why so angry?” He’s gaslighting her, making her think that she’s out of line for thinking he’s playing her against Ken, when in reality, that’s exactly what he’s doing in the scene: playing Shiv and her brothers against each other.

this is the first of two times she shows her hand too soon. The other being when blurts out to the Pierce family she is going to be the next CEO. Shiv needs to learn to have a better poker face.
Shiv pursues a career in politics as a way to sanitize her public image, but then listen to her talk about how useless things like 'indie films' are to her unless there's a way to merchandise them or turn them into a them park ride. Her motives and belief systems are no different than her family members, but she cares a lot about people thinking she's different.
One of my favorite aspects of Snook's performance is that she deepens her voice when she wants to present herself as an authority, a subconscious imitation of her father.
