I think you'd really enjoy the show Vikings, if you haven't seen it already. Season 1 is good, starts off a bit slow perhaps, but then it just keeps leveling up season for season, until and including at least season 4. And, while the concluding seasons might be a bit weaker, some of my favorite scenes are in season 5 and 6. I don't think it would be worth the time to edit reactions for Vikings to put up on UA-cam, but the show is well worth a watch if you somehow decide you have a couple of extra hundred hours lying around.. xD
Bella Ramsey was 11 when this season was being filmed. We don't get many scenes with her but we definitely get how impactful she can be. Her face exudes confidence and power
And also, the shield Jon had to block Ramsay's arrows was a Mormont shield. So it looks like Lyanna Mormont's 62 men were useful after all and saved Jon.
This is a masterpiece. I remember feeling like i was being smothered when Jon was trapped. The brutality and speed depicted in the battle is unmatched. I also remember being really pissed that Sansa did not disclose her request to the Vale to Jon. If you loved the score to this one, you're gonna freak over the score for the next one.
That's it, she sent out a request and had no idea if Littlefinger would respond. Would John be prepared to delay for a reply when Ramsey had Rickon, the answer would of been no as he had no reason to trust Littlefinger to bring the Vale knights after what happened to Sansa with Littlefingers deal with the Boltons.
"Ramsay’s the one who lays the trap”, “don’t do what he expects you to do” - Sansa. She knew Ramsey was up to something she just didn't know what so she kept the Vale a secret until Ramsey revealed his plans and then she could counter attack. If she told Jon he would most likely have them in the front which would prompt Ramsey to siege at Winterfell due to the numerical disadvantage. As to how Ramsey wasn’t aware of a mobilized army marching towards Winterfell on horseback in the snow, well he kind of forgot. Happens to the best of us.
Rewatch that One shot again. It's the height of genius camera-work, I swear. Especially for a TV show. And think how well that had to choreograph his entire first few minutes of the battle. Imagine how hard he worked. How hard they all worked on this episode. Amazing. Stellar performances!
This episode is also my favorite. The battle of the bastards’ one take where the sides collide and the camera follows Jon as he fought along the battlefield is a masterpiece in my eyes.
The patience I've had waiting for this haha it's my favourite episode in the entire show and your reaction certainly didn't disappoint at all. Thank you!
I knew you would enjoy this episode! It’s my second favorite episode of the whole series. My favorite episode of the whole series is the finale of this season! It’s a banger. I don’t think I’m giving anything away when I say please hurry up and watch the next episode! Lol Enjoyed your reaction and commentary as always.
This episode was likely the most expensive single episode of any television show, with rumors of it’s budget reaching upwards of $30 million on a supposed $100 million dollar budget for the entire season (and thus an average of $10 per episode).
I love when Drogon lands next to Dani, and you can see that she's pointing at the ground next to her; *that* is how good she is at controlling those dragons.
15:47🤭 This episode has the two most cinematicly beautiful shots of any television show (and most movies). The shot of Davos against the backdrop of the horizon and my favorite, the slow motion shot of Jon pulling off his belt and drawing his sword, facing Ramsay's charging calvary gives me chills everytime I see it.
The captions Crack me up sometimes. When Jon is waiting for Ramsay's army to come slaughter him, "Horses whispering?" I feel like Morgan Freeman's voice pipes in, "This was the moment when Jon realized Sansa was right. He should NOT have done what Ramsey wanted him too." Lmao
One of many great things about this show and this battle is the fact that they seemingly got the physics right for the giants. If you compare giants, or just very large super heroes (cough The Hulk cough), in other movies and shows, they seem to be moving far too quickly for an individual of that size and weight, and it takes you out of the shot and makes them look cartoonish and weightless. We all have an inherent understanding of inertia, and when movie flagrantly disregards that, it just doesn't look right. Not so in GoT, here you can literally feel the weight and mass and inertia in everything Wun-Wun (and the other giants) does, and while Wun-Wun can (and often do) destroy large numbers of men, he can't just plow through them, bobbing and weaving to escape being speared, and the normal soldiers can use his size and the predictability of his movements against him. If he's just swung at a group of men say in the direction of 0 degrees, basically everyone from 90 to 270 degrees gets a free stab at him, since he can't just spin around and strike at them, and he won't be able to for several seconds.
So excited for this reaction! This was the first episode I ever watched because I was convinced I’d never jump on the GoT train and wow. One of my favorite episodes!
A lot of people have an issue with Sansa not telling Jon about the knights of the vale, but honestly their surprise entrance is what won the battle. She laid a trap, just like Ramsey would do. She didn't tell Jon because he already said he wouldn't wait for more reinforcements, and if she told him she was trusting Littlefinger's word then he definitely wouldn't have stalled the battle anyway. I do think part of her was still distrustful of Jon, which I get considering the amount of betrayals Sansa has gone through. Trusting anyone again is a process.
Director is Miguel Sapochnik. AKA, The GOAT. I love when people recognize the directing and the one shot sequences. Anytime I saw Miguel was the Director.. I knew the episode would be amazing!
Can I just say, I appreciate your appreciation for the music so much. Also, the editing is primo. 👩🍳 💋🤌 Specifically, when you fade the music in and out, when your talking, or when the screen is removed, but we still hear the music. It just raises and lowers. Let's you avoid copywright holds, or whatever. And for us, it is Wonderful. It allows us, who've seen this a thousand times, enjoy it more. Because it allows us to really fall back into the moment. We are getting chills with you. Our eyebrows shoot up with you. Our heart rate rises with your's. These are the little details that make you very good at what you do. Thank you for that. You absolutely rock. 🤘
There is something I haven’t seen a lot of people point out (but that might be because I haven’t seen HOTD yet). Daenerys rides her dragon bare back… she doesn’t have a saddle and I think that’s pretty dang impressive
i had to save this aaallllll day so i could watch it on my tv with snacks. love seeing you watch a battle, and i KNEW you’d have something to say about dany’s music earlier. the full-fledged targaryen theme is my favorite in the series. the way it rolls around just…does it for me. can’t wait to see how the finale went for ya. the first bit is a lot huh?? 🤣🤣🤣
Literally my only gripe of this ep which is more of a nitpick, everyone dying the same spots to create a perfect wall trapping them Also rickon running in a straight line
@@jlerrickson Do you see how far Rickon is, of course it would have made a difference. Everyone mentions it because its common sense- he literally could've lived if he'd been smart enough to move left and right
There's a lot more than nitpicking. Some points don't make any sense, like how the Vale army got there in the 1st place. There is only 1 way into the North, thru Moat Cailin, which the Boltons currently hold. The Vale LF has no substantial navy to transport their army either. There's a lot more. 😊
Your point about Rickon is idiotic. Nearly as idiotic as the Starks themselves. The Starks have consistently showed themselves to be the dumbest family in all the seven kingdoms, time and time again. Why anyone would expect Rickon to do something halfway intelligent is beyond me. Certainly Jon didn't do anything intelligent in this episode. He continues to live up to the stupidity we all expect from the Starks.
A fantastic episode but I think Blackwater and Watchers on the Wall are easily superior battles. Battle of Bastards is as great as it is because of visuals, but these other two have so many twists with fantastic writing and way more creativity that this one is kinda lacking
You say that was the best battle sequence in the whole show. I challenge you to name me ONE battle sequence from any show or movie that was better. (cue Jeopardy theme song)
Yeah, the "BoB" episode, as the crew called it, was exemplary! As gory as Ramsey's death was, the censors made HBO cut it down - the original was even worse! EDIT: There actually were some episodes premiered in theaters, according to the cast while at Comicon...
6:54 Well, you appear to have become into the desensitized, bloodthirsty savage all GoT fans eventually become, so I would say your evolution is pretty much complete. 😂

What a face. Absolutely loved her!!
And also, the shield Jon had to block Ramsay's arrows was a Mormont shield. So it looks like Lyanna Mormont's 62 men were useful after all and saved Jon.
Ohh that's a nice catch haha
This is why I love reading the comments. Never realized that
Jeor Mormont's sword gave him the power to fight, and a Mormont shield gave him the power to defend himself. Jon Snow owes his life to the Mormonts.
This is a masterpiece. I remember feeling like i was being smothered when Jon was trapped. The brutality and speed depicted in the battle is unmatched. Sansa telling Jon about the Vale would have been high risk, zero reward. First rule of secret plans: keep them secret.

He mentions in his full reaction, on Patreon, about the awesome one shot camera work
Its damn good for sure, but the 21 minute one shot in extraction 2 which just came out is on another level of superior camera work
This longshot is probably the best medieval battle scene in the history of cinematography
One of the most well done and visually captivating episodes in TV history.
In cinematic history *
Bruh! This episode freaked me out, I loved it so much! The opening sequence is what really got me into this show!
This episode is also my favorite. The battle of the bastards’ one take where the sides collide and the camera follows Jon as he fought along the battlefield is a masterpiece in my eyes.
This one took home major TV awards, including Emmy for Best Director
Last two episodes of this season - the best thing ever! ❤❤❤

I can't wait him to witness Light of the Seven music from next episode, he truly appreciate music, he is about to be gagged so bad 😭😭❤❤

This is by far my favorite battle to have ever been filmed. The next episode is also absolutely incredible.
This episode is on the Mt Rushmore of Greatest TV Episodes.

Oh been waiting for this episode 😊
Alot of people were saying that Jon had plot armour this episode, but I assumed the whole point was the Lord of Light keeping him alive.
The lord of light made everyone around him stupid? Why didnt she make The Hound be a moron when fighting Beric?
Next episode is my favorite of the entire series!!
Luckily he’s already seen it… 😉
"The only two prominent bastards in the show" heheh subbed

The number of us screaming “serpentine!!!” during this episode was outrageous
Never seen someone that shocked for Rickon xD
Great reaction!
I know this was 9 months ago but the irony of "She's not going to go on a rampage killing people" is so funny considering what happens 😂
One of the greatest most intense moments in television history.
They originally planned to show dog ripping ramsay's jaw off, but deemed it too gruesome for tv
Loved this reaction! This is a top tier episode!

The fact that this episode was the best episode of TV for only a week cause of the next episode is mental.
Roose Bolton “The Leech Lord”
Ramsay Bolton “The Flayed Man” (Like Father, Like Legitimized Bastard)
Watched the behind the scenes making of this episode so many times. Really fantastic
in the first part somewhere he says something about someone in Mereen requesting Mister Fantastic's meme to be entered
sapochnik is a master! this episode is breathtaking. too good for tv! never seen any better battle than this!
Kit Harrington actually stood in front of charging horses for that scene. There is a behind the scenes short film of how this episode was filmed.

I have only a few words to describe this episode.
BEST. EPISODE. EVER!!!
Best one in the series by far and nothing can change that whatsoever
Its barely top 10 in got
@@ikoandreas5085 not according to my records (and do u mean on IMDb rankings?)
A lot of people forget that Jamie said the same thing to Robb in season 1 about just them fighting each other and not their armies.
Absolute masterpiece!
Migel Sopachnek directed.
Rickon's run to Jon - did you watch the entire thing without screaming "zigzag"?
Sansa was absolutely not the MVP. She withheld the information from Jon resulting in the death of most of their men and possibly even Jon.
Sam is at the Oldtown, he didn't give that up.
Something this guy said made me laugh out loud. But I can’t say because spoilers. But if you know, you know
