tyjo I finished I'll Give You The Sun a couple days ago and by a couple days ago I mean I was crying my eyes out at three in the morning. I cried six times during that book. Probably because I'm an emotional mess but oh well. I highly recommend it.

This is so random, and it’s 2019 - but I’ve been watching Dodie since 2017 now; and recently I’ve been going through some really difficult times with depression etc etc and whenever I watch Dodie’s videos such as these they really remind me to look after myself.
There are so many damaging videos out there, but whenever I come here it feels safe and caring.
I doubt anyone will read this but I just felt like I had to put it out there.
These videos always get to me and tell me to go and make myself a cup of tea and wear something comfy, watch my favourite movie.
Without this I don’t know where I’d be.

lol if I read before bed (which i've been doing every night since third grade, now i'm in tenth grade) I get so sucked into the book that i finish it in one sitting or get halfway through so basically I get no sleep
I find that I'm able to put the book down easier with nonfiction rather than fiction. With fiction I often loose sleep because I'm so engrossed, so I have to stagger my fiction reads.

I come back to this video every once in a while just cause it makes me feel so comfy. I literally let dodie influence every part of my life as a 15-16 year old, and now it feels like she’s my older sister and we’ve both grown up into fully fledged adults and are just figuring out life still. I hope she knows the massive impact she’s had on her audience 🤍

I really love a book called You're The Kind of Girl I Write Songs About by Daniel Herborn cuz it's really cute and sweet and it's based around music so i definitely recommend it if you get your hands on a copy xx

Some people actually recommend reading Carry On before Fangirl, because people who read Fangirl said they skipped the fanfic bits because they didn't care about Simon and Baz, and then people who read Carry On first knew and liked those characters and were invested in both Cath's story and the fanfics :)
But I think you could read it either way. I personally read Fangirl first (Carry On wasn't out yet), and I think that's fine too :)

•Painted Sky (small rape warning- its still a really good book) (realistic fiction)
•Permanent Rose (anything by the author tbh cause its super relaxing and nostalgic it's like reading about a daydream) (realistic fiction)
•Masterminds (kinda makes you question reality but it sticks in your imagination) (if you need inspiration for any kind of like song or book or writing promt its really sparking) (sci-fi/realistic fiction)
I recommend the book 'wonder', its cute and sad and it teaches a good lesson :)

Salicylic acid and Retinols aren't friends! Using them together, especially one after the other, can actually make acne worst!

Something in the acid basically cancels out the vitamins in the Renitol, I believe. I can't remember the exact science! It's fine to use both, but it's better to use one in the morning and one in the evening :)
Also if you're having a particularly bad skin day, it's better to pat-dry your face with paper towels than with a towel. Then throw out the paper towels. Sounds a bit wasteful and silly, but it really does make a difference! :)

just some friendly advice from someone who had acne for a long long time: drying your face by gently patting with paper towels (toilet roll is my paper of choice, keeping it classy always) rather than rubbing dry with a towel has worked wonders for my skin and might be useful for you too. it's such a small change, but towels can harbor bacteria and also rubbing in general irritates your skin, so maybe that could help minimise the amount of acne you have? sending u lots of love
