Went to see Deftones a few years back, Caspian was the warm up band. I'd never heard of them or their music. Turned out it was the best part of the show and the best concert I've ever been to
Oh for fucks sake, there's a comment like this under every youtube video. The dislikes don't matter, they could come from bots, from babies scrolling randomly, from accidental clicks. Its not worth even focusing on when its such a small number, let it go already
I didn't dislike but I'm a bit bored - it's a tad derivative and repetitive. It's okay to listen to zone out while working but even then, it's a little to heavy. Probably would be fun to see live - huge sound. I didn't really care for post rock when I was young, smoking too much pot and really supposed to like post rock but to each their own.
@@jabjav-c3y We all got the freedom to choose our favorite bands and that's a good thing. How you feel connected to a Band also depends a lot on the circumstances you discover and listen to them
I love comment threads on Caspian videos because all anyone ever disagrees about is how good this band is, usually on a scale of “Excellent” to “Best Ever.”
This and their performances on the tour leading up to this cements them as one of the greatest live bands, period. It's a true shame that the rest of their year had to get cut off completely... Needless to say, this will be the first band I'll want to see again after the madness of 2020 is over.
Get used to it. This madness will never be over, not until we end it. As long as we allow it to the grip of control the powers that be currently have will only continue to get tighter.
I consider myself fortunate to have gotten the chance to see them open for Minus the Bear on their farewell tour. I even had tickets for another Caspian show in March of 2020 in support of their new LP but yeah... We all know how that turned out 😢
I see these guys live every chance I can. They are incredibly talented and so nice. I've been waiting for this video for months and it was worth the wait.
Saw them live 2 times in very small locations in Chur, Switzerland. Both times had only 30 people or so in the audience. These two gigs are still in my memory as considered some of the best live shows I‘ve every attended. The mesmerizing layering gets you in a altered state without using any substances. But! These guys are also the nicest people you can imagine.
Never heard Caspian before, this was the first time really. But damn, I like it a lot. This is really good, and I have a feeling that this is better than the studio version. I actually ended up looping this for like 2.5 hours last night
Like many, I was planning to see Caspian before COVID-19 hit and they were forced to cancel all of their upcoming shows. Obviously I was super bummed, but this live session is a very nice consolation prize. Hopefully the stars align and I'll get the chance to see them live at some point in the future. Fantastic set, boys. Keep 'em coming, KEXP! The content you and Audiotree puts out is truly special.
That closing track, holy hell. Different from the rest of the set. Collapser reminds me of early Caspian, but the music is much more mature and sophisticated. They can still rock hard and heavy. That bass and drums at 29:20 just drive it home so hard.
I need to see you guys live before I die. I still have goosebumps listening to all your stuff, Four Trees, this. I NEED TO SEE CASPIAN LIVE BEFORE I DIE.
Desde Tenerife, Islas Canarias, España..... No consigo un boton de LIKE suficientemente GRANDE para agradecerles por esto... CASPIAN!!!... GRACIAS KEXP
I ALWAYS come back to Caspian. I was influenced by a lot of post-rock and listened to all those bands so much that I don't quite always feel the same when I listen to them, but I ALWAYS come back to Caspian. This new album is great but I encourage everyone to go listen to Waking Season if you haven't yet.
Oh my God!! You guys have the essence of a band I followed in the early 90's. The Catherine Wheel. It's like you are them but now, you've taken it to the next level, How the ef didnt I discover you earlier in my life? Please keep rocking what you are doing. Rock the Planet, boys!
This is the only band I listen to while I'm editing videos or podcasts. I hate myself for not knowing they started back in 2004/2005. So much wasted time. :(
@@joudheus They were the supporting band on a tour back in like 2007ish too. That was how I discovered Caspian in the first place. It was fitting I got to see Caspian with them again on the farewell tour
@@joudheus Saw them open for MTB in Toronto. I always casually followed caspian. I never felt a out of body experience till I saw them live. I was that weirdo with tears down my cheeks, not just because it was the last time I will see MTB live (that happened later). If anyone has the opportunity to see them live instantly buy tickets.
Woaw I love this energy which circulates from one guitar to another .. The bass duo - drums bordering well this alchemy .. thank you very much for this moment
can't wait to see them in october. it's pure art. the gig is always full of emotions, and they don't even need words! love you guys forever, i'm your biggest fan hehe 🤍
So pumped for this! Love these guys. Was gonna see them for the third time before everything got cancelled. So happy for this awesome KEXP performance.
Great performance! Makes up a little for having to miss them, hopefully next year. Thankfully I was able to catch just about every other great post rock band that happened to come through LA in 2019, it was a good year for post rock tours!
Pretty sure he just moved on to other projects. I don't know if the genre was ever really his style, pretty sure all the drum parts are just built around the guitar work of Phil Cal and Erin. I don't think any of the songs are lead by drums so really what needs to fill that role is a personality that works for the band. And their new drummer is a lad of the highest quality. He has done lights and merch and been a backbone of their world conquest.
I absolutely love that one of their few band activities was to visit the Twin Peaks RR diner in North Bend. ☕️ 🍩 🥧💨🌲❤️ 🪵 🌧 🦉 🔥 🔪 🏔 🎶 ♾ 🙏🏽 Caspian is without a doubt one of coolest and most powerful instrumental rock bands I’ve ever heard.
Anyone noticed the one guitar player´s shirt on the second song´s intro? It says "We´re going to built a wonderwall and Oasis is going to pay for it" looool. Awesome dudes
awww man, caught these dudes on Minus the Bear's farewell tour - couldn't help but close my eyes for half the set. Should have asked what his AT trail name was.
Great performance! Would have liked to see Jani on camera a bit more, though. I know there are more guitarists than most bands, but the bassist is a band member too!
Wildblood - 0:15
Flowers of Light - 7:11
Division Blues - 19:30
Collapser - 27:13
Went to see Deftones a few years back, Caspian was the warm up band. I'd never heard of them or their music. Turned out it was the best part of the show and the best concert I've ever been to
That’s a random mix. Deftones with a post rock band. 😂heel yeah though
My beard grows three inches longer with each track. The energy in this small space is such a thrill to watch/listen to.

@@johnsausage What would they be doing here? They have no taste in actual music... =D

I’ve been listening to post rock for years and no bands come close to Caspian for mixing melodies, raw distortion, and dynamics!
so true
I really like Caspian, however I think Godspeed You! Black Emperor will always be my number one for post rock.

So glad to see that Negan and Rick Grimes were able to settle their differences and jam together.
JK, love you Phil and Erin!
DUDE I THOUGHT THE SAME
Eugene on drums.
I’m so glad I picked this video. I’ve never heard of this band but after this performance consider me a fan. Reminds me of Isis and Palms.
if you like Isis/Palms you'll need to check out PSOTY.
Whoever is playing the intro to Wildblood has a literally perfect post rock tone

Great work by the camera guy in the middle who didn't budge for even a second, if I was there, I would've natural forgotten that I have a job to do
The last time I saw these guys was in their hometown at the Cabot with front row seats and it will forever remain an experience I will never forget.
I have come to a point where I admit defeat and acknowledge I now have a favourite post-rock band. A love at first listening with Caspian
my first introduction to Caspian and I have repeatedly watched this video multiple times in two days. Such pleasure to the ears.
