We live abroad and are building a hostel in Abuja (close to a university) with a separate apartment for us that joins onto my husbands brothers apartment who will live there as the landlord as he is helping us build it. So when we come to Nigeria we will have a place to stay. Everything you are saying is so true. Very good tips for people. Another way to save money is to not have the crazy high roofs that most Nigerian house have. It is a waste of materials. And make sure the fence and gate is done first so the compound is secure.

This is a great video though i have already fallen to that rubbish of spending all my money building a mansion in the village(as in Nwa-away) putting street lights and extending my borehole outside for my village people,all this things happening when i didn't even have any solid investment on ground. By the time sense started falling on me,the money wasn't coming again as b4. I started regretting not bcos those things isn't good but it shouldn't have been the first thing to be done.i didn't just have who could have adviced me but hmmm..would i also have taken any such advice then🤔. The good news now is that i later got a land in a good gated Estate where i built a 2-storey block flats and handed over to a real estate lawyer who i pay 5%yearly but building that house was a great challenge(i suffered my sister)bcos i lost my first job after building that mansion in the village. So this is a nice video that could help many who haven't made the mistake already👍✌

I Know a guy who built a mansion in the village and only sleep there once every year, December only
Thank you for this video, I am engineer C and recently acquired a landed property and I will be making use of building by stages and first property took us a while to complete and we also lost money and lastly NEVER place relatives in charge of a building or landed property o, my husband and I learnt the hard way.
So sorry to read about your losses. It's sad that some relatives are so greedy! The worst is that such people don't put the money to good use. Good luck in your future projects.

Makes a whole lot of sense, Nigerians prefer building a house themselves, cos the houses you buy might be built with substandard materials. I have acted like Engineer C in the past. Two of my friends acted like Mr. A and they always regret. Best advice ever...shalom😋😁😁
You have said it all Mami,I have little exprience in building materials,you are so on point,If you want ur materials cheaper buy them and dont allow Engineers to buy for you,but you they can go with you to buy them,this is also applicable in hiring labourers
